А мне кажется, что на "Вечеринке во дворце" выступление Оззика было одним из самых ярких и зажигательных. Даже было задремавшие до того юные принцы оживились и можно считать, даже колбасились в меру возможностей, насколько это позволяла королевская ложа. Сразу видно, насмотрелись "Семейки Осборнов" по телеку. Только, вот, Оззик ни разу не ругнулся и жвачку выплюнул посреди песни. К чьему башмаку она потом пристала, интересно? Рок-н-ролл!

Bush/Hitler Image Removed From Ozzfest Video Montage

There's something a little different about Black Sabbath's performance at Ozzfest nowadays, and if you blink you might miss it.

removed from the video montage that accompanies the song, which usually kicks off the band's headlining set. One image that juxtaposed Bush and Adolf Hitler was captioned "Same sh--, different a--hole," while the second superimposed a round, red clown nose on the president, along with the words "White House Clown."

The edit comes days after Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, who claimed he was unaware of what was showing behind him, distanced himself from the images and the sentiment they implied.

"It has been brought to my attention that the widescreen portrays President George W. Bush with a clown nose appearing with past warmongers, including Adolf Hitler," Ward wrote on his Web site. "I wish to say this video structure does not represent my personal views towards President Bush. This video was made without my prior knowledge or consent."

The Ozzfest camp said it did not create the inflammatory images, but only compiled pre-existing footage to accompany the anti-war song.

"The Ozzfest 'War Pigs' clip is a video montage of conflicts and war protests from the last century to today with stock footage secured from third parties," read a statement from festival organizers. "The image of President Bush and Hitler is taken from a CNN news feature that shows a protestor holding a sign with President Bush and Hitler. The video is part of a musical performance and the images should not be taken out of context."

An article in Wednesday's USA Today alleges that the Bush images were removed due to complaints, though an Ozzfest spokesperson denied the claim. Instead, the spokesperson said, the montage was edited because too many media outlets were taking the footage out of context, and it steered attention away from Black Sabbath's performance.

Two years ago, Bush met Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne at the White House Correspondents Association dinner. Osbourne and his wife, Sharon, attended as guests of FOX News host Greta Van Susteren.

Ozzy merchandise hits $50m mark

The popularity of Ozzy Osbourne has seen sales of his merchandise hit the $50m (£27.2m) mark, a record for a heavy metal artist.

Sales of T-shirts, accessories and action figures have rocketed since TV show The Osbournes hit screens.

Merchandising sold at concerts including Ozzfest raked in $35m (£19m), according to licensing company Signature Networks.

Ozzy vintage clothing is even available in US fashion store Bloomingdales.

"I think the Ozzy for President and the Passion of Ozzy shirts we just released will be some of the best-selling and most popular among his fans," said wife and manager Sharon Osbourne.

"Of course, I love Ozzy so much I sleep with one of his shirts on every night."

Signatures Network, who hold the worldwide merchandising and marketing rights to 125 music artists including U2 and Madonna, said an Osbournes slot machine would be one of the next products on the market.

Ozzy recently returned to performing after suffering serious injuries in a quad bike accident in December 2003, lining up alongside other metal acts at Ozzfest.

Meanwhile, the Osbourne family, including siblings Jack and Kelly, have returned for a third series of MTV show The Osbournes, ensuring the marketing rollercoaster continues apace.

На протяжении всей трансляции Оззи был явно "на воздусях" (по-просту пьян). Вообще, передача- и главным образом сам Оззи - оставила гнетущее впечатление - несмотря на наличие юморных моментов.

Никоим образом не принижаю его личность - более того - ценю и уважаю но...
Лучше бы я не видел этого действа.

SHARON OSBOURNE - "Thank God I Didn't Have A Gun"

A tearful Sharon Osbourne said on Thursday that she would have shot her husband, rocker Ozzy Osbourne, when he tried to strangle her in 1989 if she had had a gun in their English home. While interviewing female inmates who had killed abusive boyfriends or husbands, Osbourne told guests on her U.S. daytime talk show that she had been a victim of domestic violence.

"He (Ozzy) was drinking and he was taking drugs and it got to the point where he got violent with me, and he nearly choked me to death and I called the police on him," Osbourne said, on the verge of tears. "He's a gift from God but if I'd have had a gun I would have used it," she said.

Ozzy Osbourne was arrested in 1989 at the couple's home in Buckinghamshire, northwest of London, on charges of threatening to kill his wife, and for a time he was barred from the family home or from contacting Sharon, then 37. The couple, married in 1982, and two of their three children star in MTV's popular reality show "The Osbournes."

Sharon Osbourne said on Thursday that after his arrest, former Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy "turned his life around."

"Thank God I didn't have a gun, that's why I'm so against guns or knives or anything like that, because I know if I'd have had one I'd have probably tried to defend myself," she said.

IOMMI/HUGHES: 'Eighth Star' To See Official Release In The Fall - Aug. 4, 2004

Former DEEP PURPLE/BLACK SABBATH singer Glenn Hughes has posted the following message on his web site:

"I had dinner with [BLACK SABBATH guitarist] Tony Iommi on Sunday night. We are pleased to announce that the album which was originally bootlegged [issued under the title 'Eighth Star' and featuring material originally recorded back in 1996 for what was then to be Tony Iommi's first official solo release and later abandoned for what eventually did become Tony's first official solo album, 'Iommi' — Ed.] will be officially released with an extra track called 'Time Is the Healer'. It has been re mixed and mastered. It will be out on Sanctuary this fall. I will be going to the U.K. in October to write with Tony for a future project.

"Manne Guitars and myself are working on a signature bass guitar. The first prototype was used last weekend in Iowa. The bass is designed by myself and features a classic funk rock sound. BLACK SABBATH Bassist Says The ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Is 'Meaningless' - Aug. 5, 2004

BLACK SABBATH bassist Geezer Butler spoke to the San Antonio Express-News about the group's decision to embark on a reunion tour as part of this year's Ozzfest.

"I don't think Ozzy was sure what he was going to do this year," Butler explained. "It was hit or miss with him after his [all-terrain-vehicle] accident [last December].

"I was around his house and he was playing me his new musical thing he's been writing. The next day he phoned me up and asked about doing Ozzfest this year. I said I was fine with it. Then he phoned up [guitarist] Tony [Iommi] and [drummer] Bill [Ward]."

Regarding Ward's recent health problems, which caused him to be replaced by OZZY OSBOURNE drummer Mike Bordin for a number of SABBATH dates several years ago, Butler said, "[Bill] did the last tour with us, but he missed the beginning of (another) when he had a heart attack. He's been fine. He stopped smoking and has a healthier lifestyle, and he felt up to it. Me and Tony didn't want to go out as SABBATH with a different drummer. It can only be the original four."

Geezer also spoke about the group's recently released box set, "Black Box". For Butler, who is SABBATH's chief lyricist, the chance to package the ultimate "Black Box" was an opportunity to settle a score.

"The major thing I did was make sure the lyrics were properly written this time," he said. "The lyrics that have been printed on the albums in the past have never been right. There's always been loads of mistakes, so this time I had the opportunity of correcting everything."

Asked about SABBATH's glaring omission from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Butler said, "I've got no thoughts on it. It's not up to us. We can't vote ourselves in. I don't really think about it. We'd probably accept it, but I don't think we'd turn up there. It's just meaningless now. I think we've been nominated 10 times so it doesn't mean anything anymore.

"To me, I think it should be THE BEATLES, the STONES and ELVIS — and that's it. When everybody gets in, eventually it just makes it meaningless."

Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program Established

LOS ANGELES — Cedars-Sinai Medical Center announced today the establishment of the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program in honor of "The Osbournes" matriarch who has battled colon cancer that is now in remission.

"I am passionate about making it my personal mission to do what I can to make sure that all colon cancer patients are empowered with the same resources and receive the same level of treatment I received," said Osbourne, who starred with rock star husband, Ozzy, and two of their children on the hit MTV unscripted MTV series and also hosted a syndicated talk show.

In a written statement, Osbourne noted that colon cancer is a "particularly insidious disease that strikes both men and women," and that the treatments can be highly effective but "out of reach financially for too many."

"When I saw people taking the public bus after a chemotherapy treatment, I knew I had to get involved," she said, adding that the program is "the embodiment of a dream of mine and partnering with Cedars-Sinai allows me to touch the lives of so many others."

Osbourne was diagnosed with colon cancer in July 2002 and treated at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and is now fully recovered, with the cancer in remission, according to the statement.

"Sharon's strength, conviction and determination throughout her ordeal have inspired numerous people and have brought colon cancer awareness directly into our community," said Osbourne's surgeon, Dr. Edward Phillips, who is the director of the Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery. "Sharon boldly allowed the public into her private world, and, in the process, inspired us with her candor and positive outlook during a tumultuous time in her life."

The program -- which is accepting donations -- will fund three initiatives, including sponsored care and direct financial assistance to those in need, specialized care and treatments for colon cancer patients at Cedars-Sinai and elevated awareness and education for patients, families and the community, hospital officials said.

IOMMI/HUGHES: Official Version Of 'Eighth Star' Will Be Significantly Different From Bootleg - Aug. 8, 2004

The Tony Iommi/Glenn Hughes album recorded in 1996, heavily bootlegged as the much in demand "Eighth Star" (not the project's official title), will be quite markedly different to the version currently on the underground market when it is officially released through Sanctuary Records later this year, according to RockDetector.com.

Strengthening the BLACK SABBATH connection is bassist Neil Murray, from the "Headless Cross", "Tyr" and "Forbidden" eras, who revealed his participation recently. "I spent one afternoon replacing the bass on two songs, one of which only had to be replaced because Tony Iommi had altered the riffs used in the song, or the original Glenn Hughes bass track would have been used," he said.

It is commonly known that Don Airey, himself a man with BLACK SABBATH connections and now a member of DEEP PURPLE, supplied some of the keyboards on the record. However, also involved in the sessions was BLACK SABBATH keyboard veteran Geoff Nicholls.

The biggest change though is a complete overhaul of the originally recorded drums. In 1996 former JUDAS PRIEST man Dave Holland put down all the percussion work. However, Jimmy Copley of TEARS FOR FEARS, the PAUL RODGERS BAND and a colleague of Murray's in M3, has re-cut the drum tracks.

Neil Murray has been active on the live front both with M3 and performing six days a week in the blockbuster West End stage musical of QUEEN's "We Will Rock You", a role he has been engaged in for well over a year now.

You Can End 'The Osbournes,' But You Can't Tune Them Out

The fourth season of "The Osbournes," slated to start on September 13, will be the show's last, but the Osbourne family is hardly done with television.

Kelly, of course, is starring in the new ABC drama "Life As We Know It," and Sharon has revealed she and Ozzy are in talks to host an evening show. "That's going to be happening later on next year, not for a while," she said recently. (Her spokesperson had no additional details on the show.)

Sharon, whose talk show was canceled earlier this year, has also lined up a few TV gigs in England. She's hosting her own late-night show there this fall (see "Sharon Osbourne Hired For TV Job, Fired From Decorating Gig") and will be a judge along with Simon Cowell on his new singing contest "The X Factor" (see "Simon Cowell Meets His Match: Sharon Osbourne").

"I'm slapping him around a bit, keeping him in line. You know, that's what you have to do with him," said Sharon, who said she is enjoying the experience so far.

Kelly is also happy with her new show, except for one small struggle. "I have to be on set at 6 a.m. every day, which was a little bit hard to get used to," she said. "But it's great. I work with really great people and I like doing it because it's really controversial and I think it's going to push a lot of buttons. It's a show that's in kids' language, so they'll be able to get it. I'm excited."

"Life As We Know It" centers around three teenage guys coming of age in high school. Osbourne plays the girlfriend of one of the guys (see "Kelly Osbourne On The Tube Is No Longer Must-Bleep TV" ).

"My character is an overweight teen, who is a little insecure and nervous when it comes to boys, but at the same time is really confident and really doesn't take any sh--," she said.

As for "The Osbournes," a cultural landmark that has spawned dozens of imitators, Sharon said "the time was right to call it a day" with the upcoming fourth season.

"Now, without the camera crews, soundmen, directors and technicians roaming the house all day, the dogs are all we have left," she said in a statement. "And, with our schedules this summer, it's positively quiet. But we Osbournes always have something up our sleeves."

This summer, Sharon and Ozzy have been busy with their annual Ozzfest, which Ozzy is again headlining. The tour hits Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on Thursday and wraps up September 4 in West Palm Beach, Florida.

"We're doing fantastic business," Sharon said. "We're really, really blessed."

OZZY OSBOURNE Replaced By ROB HALFORD At BLACK SABBATH's Camden Gig - Aug. 26, 2004

Ozzy Osbourne was forced to sit out BLACK SABBATH's performance at Thursday night's (Aug. 26) Ozzfest in Camden, NJ due to an attack of bronchitis. He was replaced at the concert by none other than JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford. Halford had previously joined SABBATH for two gigs to support Ozzy on his last shows for the "No More Tours" tour in November 1992 in Costa Mesa, CA after SABBATH's singer at the time, Ronnie James Dio, refused to take the stage.

TONY IOMMI Hopes To Begin Work On New BLACK SABBATH Album Next Year - Sep. 11, 2004

BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi has told GibsonCustom.com that the possibility of a new SABBATH album has not been ruled out. Asked point-blank if there will be a new CD of original material from the heavy metal pioneers, Iommi responded, "We would hope so. I'm hoping we will do another one. One of the major problems, of course, is Ozzy's been doing a lot of other stuff with his MTV stuff. Hopefully within the next year we'll be able to do something. I'm wrapped up at the minute doing my solo stuff and still writing, but I've got some stuff in hand if we do another SABBATH album."

BLACK SABBATH Once Again Snubbed By The ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME - Sep. 13, 2004

BLACK SABBATH have once again been snubbed by the voting members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Ozzy Osbourne-fronted band were a glaring omission from the list of the nominees for induction in 2005 in the "artist" category, which were announced earlier today (Sept. 13).

VAN HALEN, who became eligible in 2003, also have yet to be nominated.

The nominees for the 2005 induction class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame include U2, GRANDMASTER FLASH & THE FURIOUS FIVE, RANDY NEWMAN and the O'JAYS.

They are joined on the ballot by the PRETENDERS, BUDDY GUY, WANDA JACKSON, THE J. GEILS BAND, CONWAY TWITTY and PERCY SLEDGE.

The SEX PISTOLS, THE STOOGES, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and the late GRAM PARSONS were previously nominated but remain on this year's ballot.

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria considered includes the influence and significance of the artist's contribution to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.

The foundation's nominating committee, composed of rock and roll historians, selects nominees each year in the "artist" category. Ballots are then sent to an international voting body of about 700 rock experts.

Five years ago, Ozzy Osbourne attempted to take BLACK SABBATH's name off the Hall of Fame's 1999 nomination list, deeming the institution's nod "meaningless."

In an October 1999 letter to the Hall of Fame, Osbourne said: "Just take our name off the list. Save the ink. Forget about us. The nomination is meaningless, because it's not voted on by the fans. It's voted on by the supposed elite for the industry and the media, who've never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives, so their vote is irrelevant to me." He says, "Let's face it, BLACK SABBATH has never been media darlings. We're a people's band and that suits us just fine."

TONY IOMMI AND GLENN HUGHES RELEASING 'THE 1996 DEP SESSIONS' ON SANCTUARY:

When monumental musical talents collide, the result is magic. Tony Iommi and Glenn Hughes offer proof in the form of the album The 1996 DEP Sessions set for release by Sanctuary Records on September 28, 2004. The album is being released under the banner Iommi with Glenn Hughes.

The 1996 DEP Sessions features eight electrifying songs recorded by these two legends. Iommi is the lead guitarist in Black Sabbath, the groundbreaking originators of pure heavy metal; he has led every lineup of the band. Iommi is one of the most influential and widely recognized guitarists in the history of rock music. Hughes was a member of Trapeze before achieving worldwide superstardom as the co-lead vocalist and bass guitarist in Deep Purple in the mid-1970s. He has enjoyed a prolific and diverse solo career.

The two friends had worked together a decade before on 1986's Seventh Star album, which the record company at the time credited to Black Sabbath Featuring Tony Iommi for marketing purposes. The underrated Seventh Star certainly had its highlights, but it featured a then-contemporary 1980s sound. The 1996 DEP Sessions has a much grittier, forceful, timeless sound.

The eight tracks on 'The 1996 DEP Sessions' are: "Gone," "From Another World," "Don't You Tell Me," "Don't Drag The River," "Fine," "Time Is The Healer," "I'm Not The Same Man" and "It Falls Through Me."

The story of how this project came together began when Iommi was working on a solo album and he asked Hughes to collaborate with him as a singer and songwriter. They worked on demos and recording for most of them commenced at DEP Studios in Birmingham, England. DEP is a renowned facility owned by the British reggae band UB40. Among those joining in were joined by keyboardists Don Airey (a respected veteran who has played with Rainbow and Ozzy Osbourne and is currently a member of Deep Purple) and Geoff Nicholls (who played on many Black Sabbath albums in the 1980s as well as 'Seventh Star').

No mixing was done at the time and Iommi and Hughes pursued other projects. They still kept in touch personally and occasionally brought up the subject of finishing and releasing those songs recorded in 1996. Unfortunately, a poor-quality bootleg CD made from an incomplete cassette surfaced.

Earlier this year, Iommi reviewed the tapes at his home studio with the idea of completing them and releasing the songs so that fans could enjoy this music in finished form. New drum tracks were recorded by Jimmy Copley, who played on Iommi's acclaimed, all-star-laden 2000 solo album Iommi. Original engineer Mike Exeter and Iommi mixed the 1996 tracks and stripped them down to the basics to help add to the clean, raw feel.

These songs have percolated and ripened over eight years. Now collected as The 1996 DEP Sessions, they are taking their rightful place among the finest, most exciting work Iommi and Hughes have ever done.
