In a Federal Court in Manhattan, John files a suit against former Nixon administration attorneys and the officials from the US Immigration and Naturalization Service. The suits charges that John was singled out for selective prosecution for deportation because of his political views, not for his 1968 drug conviction in England.

Slim Whitman, the American country and western music singer/songwriter and instrumentalist dies. He was 90. George cited Whitman as an early influence and Paul credited a poster of Whitman with giving him the idea of playing his guitar left-handed with his guitar strung the opposite way to a right-handed player's.
The exhibit Linda McCartney retrospective is displayed at the Kunst Haus Wien in Vienna, Austria. The new exhibition is the first comprehensive retrospective of Linda McCartney’s work featuring 190 of her iconic photographs.
