The Quarry Men perform at the Casbah Coffee Club, West Derby,
Liverpool. Ken Brown, suffering from a heavy cold, is unable to
perform. After the show, an argument erupts when Paul McCartney
takes the position that Brown should not get a share of the
performance fee since he had not performed. McCartney gets John
Lennon and George Harrison on his side. Brown quits and The Quarry
Men decide not to play for the club again, due to their objections
over Mrs. Best paying Brown for his non-performance. However, they
resume playing the club in December 1960, after they'd become 'The
Beatles'.

The Beatles perform at the Kaiserkeller Club, Grosse Freiheit,
Hamburg, West Germany.
[B] 1962
The Beatles perform at the Cavern Club at lunchtime and then again
at night.
[B] 1964
The Beatles, touring Britain, perform two shows at DeMontfort Hall,
Leicester.
[B] 1968
The Beatles in the recording studio (Studios Two and Three, EMI
Studios, London). String overdubs are recorded to complete both
"Piggies" and "Glass Onion". In Studio Three, "Why Don't We Do It
in the Road?" is completed with the overdubbing of Ringo's drum
track and Paul's handclaps, bass, more vocals, and electric guitar.

George Harrison forms Singsong Ltd., a music publishing company.
[R] 1975
Ken Russell's motion picture "Lisztomania", starring Roger Daltrey
of The Who as Franz Liszt and Ringo Starr in a cameo role as the
pope, premieres in New York. It will open in London on Nov. 13.

format.

A poem by the late John Lennon is sold at auction for 3,352 pounds
(5,700 dollars). The poem, which consists of the phrase "Fuck You"
repeated 104 times, was sent to fan Susan Baker in 1969 after she
wrote to Lennon asking him to send her a poem. The poem was signed
by both Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono. Lennon's cover letter to Ms.
Baker, telling her that she could publish the poem if she wished,
was included with the piece.
