The Beatles perform at the Kaiserkeller Club, Grosse Freiheit,
Hamburg, West Germany.

The Beatles perform at the Cavern Club - a night show.

The Beatles perform at the Star-Club, Hamburg, West Germany.
[B] 1963
The Beatles tape two interviews for Irish television. The first,
recorded at a spot between Dublin and Belfast, is for Ulster
Television's "Ulster News". The second, recorded at the BBC's
Broadcasting House in Belfast, is for the BBC's news magazine
program "Six Ten". Both are broadcast that evening.

The Beatles, their British tour extending into Ireland, perform two
shows at the Ritz Cinema in Belfast.
[B] 1964
The Beatles, on a tour of Britain, perform at the Empire Theatre in
Liverpool, their first home-town concert since December 22, 1963.
[B] 1965
The Beatles in the recording studio (Studio Two, EMI Studios,
London). With time rapidly running out for the completion of
"Rubber Soul" and the need to record a Christmas record for The
Beatles' fan club members, George Martin deliberately records The
Beatles as they rehearse George Harrison's song "Think For
Yourself". Martin had hoped they would say something witty that
would be suitable for the Christmas record, but it didn't turn out
that way. Nonetheless, the recording is kept anyway, and it did
come into use during the production of the film "Yellow Submarine",
when a six-second snippet of John, Paul, and George practicing the
vocal harmonies for "Think For Yourself" is used in the movie. The
Beatles, at this session, work on "Think For Yourself" (originally
titled "Won't Be There With You"). After rehearsal, one take is
all that is required to get down the basic instrumental track, and
overdubs are recorded. Around 3:00 am The Beatles record a bunch
of unrehearsed material for their Christmas record, leaving it up
to George Martin to make some sense of it all.
[J] 1967
The Richard Lester movie "How I Won the War", featuring John Lennon
in the role of Private Gripweed, opens in the US in New York.
[J] 1968
Cynthia Lennon is granted a divorce from John, following an
uncontested suit. It is announced that John has made 'generous and
proper provision' for Cynthia and their son Julian.
[G] 1968
George Harrison's songwriting contract with Northern Songs expires,
and George does not renew it.
[G] 1976
US release of George Harrison compilation LP "The Best of George
Harrison" (Capitol). Songs: "Something", "If I Needed Someone",
"Here Come the Sun", "Taxman", "Think for Yourself", "For You
Blue", "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", "My Sweet Lord", "Give Me
Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)", "You", "Bangla Desh", "Dark Horse",
and "What is Life". 15 weeks on Billboard chart; highest position

US release of John Lennon compilation LP "The John Lennon
Collection" (Geffen). Songs: "Give Peace a Chance", "Instant
Karma", "Power to the People", "Whatever Gets You Through the
Night", "#9 Dream", "Mind Games", "Love", "Imagine", "Jealous Guy",
"(Just Like) Starting Over", "Woman", "I'm Losing You", "Beautiful
Boy (Darling Boy)", "Dear Yoko", and "Watching the Wheels". The
cassette version contains the additional songs "Happy Xmas (War Is
Over)" and "Stand by Me".
[G] 1982
UK release of George Harrison LP "Gone Troppo" (Dark Horse).
Songs: "Wake Up My Love", "That's the Way It Goes", "I Really Love

A long-standing suit (20 years) between The Beatles and EMI/Capitol
is resolved. Although details are not revealed, it is widely
reported that EMI/Capitol will pay The Beatles approximately 100
million pounds sterling in back royalties. The Beatles also obtain
greater control over the use of their recordings, including record
cover artwork.
