12th July 1966 - St. Louis, Missouri, Kiel Convention Hall

"...The Stones arrived with a police escort just before intermission. Jagger, who was dressed in a white blazer with brown stripes, a blue button-down shirt, white pants, white socks and white loafers, chatted with reporters before the group went on stage.
"St. Louis is a funny town for record sales and promotions," he said. "The ratio of singles to albums they sell a lot more singles here."
"There's a lot of young money here," someone said. "There's a lot of young money everywhere," Jagger said.
When the Stones started to play, the audience surged forward, up to the orchestra pit where the Kiel Auditorium guards linked arms and held the youths back. On stage, Jagger was going through a series of fantastic gyrations. A few persons threw coins.
Mike Gruber, a member of the Stones' retinue, was backstage, a khaki bush coat thrown cape-style over his shoulders. He held a cigarette by the filter between his teeth. The size of the audience disappointed him.
"The trouble," he was saying, "is the audience. Listen to them."
The Stones sang for 30 minutes, closed with "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" and hurried off stage without an encore. They went immediately to their black limousines, which were parked in the Kiel garage, and, with police cars in front and in back of them, set off again for the Chase."

Кото или японская цитра — японский щипковый музыкальный инструмент c более чем тысячелетней историей. Он был завезён в Японию из Китая в качестве инструмента для дворцового оркестра и использовался в музыке гагаку. Свой инструмент Брайан купил на Виргинских островах. Кото можно услышать на "Cool, Calm And Collected" ("Between The Buttons", 1967) и в "You Got The Silver" ("Let It Bleed", 1969) - тот самый загадочный инструмент "autoharp" в аннотации к альбому.

In memory of Charlie ...

"I've never been interested in doing interviews or being seen. I love it, and I do interviews because I want people to come and see the band. The Rolling Stones exist because people come to the shows... For 20 years, I never did an interview, you know? I did one with Ray Connolly and I didn't like the quote. I did say it, it wasn't Ray's fault. But I thought "that's it!" and I never did an interview. Then Mick got fed up with having to do all of them and I was roped in."
"...I became totally another person. At the end of two years on speed and heroin, I was very ill. My daughter used to tell me I looked like Dracula. I nearly lost my wife and everything over my behavior. I went mad, really. I nearly killed myself" (about of the early '80s).
"...I've never filled the stereotype of the rock star. Back in the '70s, Bill Wyman and I decided to grow beards, and the effort left us exhausted. I wasn't really a rockstar. I don't have all the trappings of that. Having said that, I do have four vintage cars and can't drive the bloody things."
