Сейчас выходит серия дисков Роя(1965-1973),я прикупил первые четыре диска...Ну что сказать???Я был плохо знаком с творчеством Роя именно по 60-ым годам,теперь я восполнил этот пробел,Рой рулит!!!!! :)))
Кстати Рой исполнял околобитловскую вещь(т.е "чужая" песня,но исполненная битлами)-догадаетесь какая???

Короче Рой поёт Money(That's that I want)!!!Интересная версия получилась,не жёсткая как у битлов :)))

The Big O, Roy Orbison, would have turned 69 years old today (Saturday April 23).

The Orbison estate is marking the anniversary with a new release, a concert filmed at Festival Hall in Melbourne, Australia in 1972.

"Out of the tiny oil town of Wink, in West Texas, he became a worldwide superstar, topping the charts around the planet for four decades. He toured with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Eagles and Patsy Cline, and made a tremendous impact on every single soul that heard his sound. Elvis Presley called Roy "The Greatest singer in the world.""

"Roy Orbison was born in Vernon, Texas on April 23rd, 1936. He got his first guitar for his 6th birthday, had his own radio show at the age of 8. At the age of 13 he formed his first band, the Wink Westerners, and they became local heroes. By 18 he had his own television show and one of his guests was Johnny Cash, who pointed him to Sun Records, the home to Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash."

"From there he went to Monument Records in Nashville and a tremendous string of hits followed. First came "Uptown," followed by "Only The Lonely," "Blue Angel," "Running Scared," "Crying," "Dream Baby," "In Dreams," "It's Over," and one of the most popular songs of all time, "Oh, Pretty Woman.""

"In January of 1987, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Later that year, he recorded the archetypal Black & White Night, the Coconut Grove performance featuring artists Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, James Burton, and Bonnie Raitt, to name a few. During that year, Roy was recording two albums at the same time, one with the Traveling Wilburys, Vol. 1, and his solo effort, Mystery girl. FANS CALL FOR ORBISON STAMP HONOUR

Fans of rocker ROY ORBISON have launched an internet campaign calling for their hero to be depicted on a commemorative US stamp.

The creators of Roy Orbison's official website are calling for fans to sign a new petition which they hope will persuade postal bosses to honour the CRYING singer.

And the fans who have launched the drive have been given a boost by U2 star BONO, who was one of the first people to sign.

The organisers hope to get the stamp approved to mark what would have been Orbison's 70th birthday next April (06).

Orbison died in 1988 of a heart attack. He was 52.

The following interview with Roy Orbison has never been seen before. Desmond Duffy did the interview in April 1969 from Belfast N.I.

The story behind the interview is very interesting. Desmond meets with Roy Orbison several times in the 60’ties and 70’ties.
At this meeting Desmond had planed to do an interview with a tape recorder and had prepared himself with a written list of questions a brand new tape recorder and everything. Unfortunately Desmond was not allowed to use his tape recorder at the hotel – the hotel manager. And even though Desmond asked Roy to help him out on this there was nothing Roy could do. But surprisingly Roy then asked Desmond for the paper with the question and said to Desmond that he would look in to this. The next day Roy handed over the list with question to Desmond. And to Desmond big surprise Roy had handwritten answer to all 20 questions.

This is the first time this special interview is being published ever and I am glad to be able to bring it here. Desmond had brought it to the Orbison meeting in Copenhagen august 2005.

Q1) Roy what way do you feel if your new single or album doesn’t hit the charts?
A1) It Doesn't bothers me but I would rather have a hit.

Q2) I have read "that you have give your life to song but the last 2-3 years have been bad, if this happens do you try to get a better song next?
A2) No, I try to do what I've always done.

Q3) Roy the car you are in on the lp cover is this your own and what is the car on "Cry Softly Lonely One"?
A3) An Excalibur (A reproduction of a 1927 Mercedes)

Q4) Roy Orbison at the Rockhouse & Exciting Sounds Albums are all the tracks Sum records?
A4) Yes.

Q5) Roy what about the unissued recordings, I see you have none at Sun but were are these "How Are Things In Paradise", "Black Dalton" and "Blue Teardrops are Falling" and more?
A5) They probably won’t be released.

Q6) Roy do you have any say about some singles been on 3/4 album and new albums?
A6) Some, but I try not to chose everything my self.

Q7) Roy what sort of a Rocker were you in the great Sun years 1956-58. What songs did you sing in places like "Richmond, Virginia" 1956, and the "Hillbilly Show" in 1957?
A7) I was shaking Rocker and I sang songs that were popular.

Q8) You said you did sing live "Shake Rattle And Roll" what can you remember singing with this? (Roy give's a few bars of this)
A8) Nothing that was R+B.

Q9) Did you hear of Sam Phillips on Sun Records saying "You sued be heard but not seen, why was Sam quoted as saying hits. What do you think of you Sun recordings - today’s?
A9) Sam is a sympathetic case. Sun today is very little.

Q10) Do you know if Sun Records have Conway Twitty singing "Rockhouse" and Elvis "Down the Line"?
A10) No they do not.

Q11) Ooby Dooby was your first record with Sun, did you recorded it before Sid King in 56?
A11) Yes I did at Columbia & Columbia stole it for Sid King.

Q12) Will we ever get to hear the Album of Standards which was in the club mag April 1967?
A12) Only in part.

Q13) Did you come from a musical family, and who influenced you most with Rock 'n' Roll?
A13) Yes Chuck Berry.

Q14) You had a great write up on your first visit to "London's Talk of The Town" would you be making a return there soon would you like to?
A14) Probably not, but I wouldn't mind.

Q15) How did the recording of "Cast Iron Arm" sung by fellow Teen Kings Peanut Wilson become? I have only heard this rocker once and I' after a copy.
A15) I wasn't a hit. I played guitar on the session.

Q16) Who are your favourite Country singers and favourite writers of all?
A16) George Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis - Don Gibson + Bill Dees.

Q17) Roy what will you do when you finished in the record Co, do have other business?
A17) Yes I have some land & things.

Q18) Do you receive the "Texan Star" from the fan club, what do you think Mick Perry News?
A18) Yes & Micks the greatest.

Q19) What are the names of the people in charges, like recording manager, personal?
A19) Personal Mgr. Wesley Rose.

Q20) When will we see you next film, the successor to "The Fastest Guitar Alive.”?
A20) Maybe within a Year.

First Class Roy Orbison

Barbara Orbison, widow of the late Roy Orbison is organising an online petition to get her late husband a commemorative stamp.

Roy, who would have been 70 next year, is often cited as one of the greatest voices of all time and provided music fans with some fantastic hits such as Pretty Woman, Only the Lonely and Crying. The petition has been supported by thousands of people so far including U2 singer Bono and Olivia Harrison, widow of the late George Harrison.

Я уж думал, что потерялся топик, хотел новый создавать, но он здесь, к счастию:)))

Вопрос в слудующем: какой период из творчества Роя Вам больше всего нравится, а их несколько:
"The Teen Kings" - период с 1955 до 1957 года
"Sun" - в общем "Ooby Dooby" и прочие ранние околорокабилльные вещи с 56 до 58
"RCA" - всего 7 песен в 59, песни не самые плохие, но малознаменитые.
"Monument" - период считается "золотыми днями", 1959-1965. Записаны тогда были "Oh, Pretty Woman" и "Only The Lonely". Раскрываются способности орбисоновского голоса
"MGM" - По правде говоря, этот период мой любимый. С 1965 по 73 было записано более 13 отличных альбомов (один из них саундтрек к единственной главной роли Роя), так же смена имиджа - Орбисон состриг "дактейл" и кок стал челкой:))) Но в это время были и неприятные вещи: смерть Клодетт и низкий рейтинг продаж записей (за сравнивнение не убивайте).
"Mercury" - "Monument" - "Asylum". С 74 по 79 Рой сменил аж 3 студии и выпустил всего 3 альбома. Радует в это время факт возвращения на "Monument" в 76 году и выпуск там альбома с многообещающим (правда, это потом было ошибкой) названием "Regeneration" (большая-большая редкость! на CD не издавался!), в 74 "I'm Still In Love With You" тоже отличный альбом, но вот в "Laminar Flow" в 1979 уже звучит диско - менеджеры пытаются спати положение по средством исполнения Роем современной музыки. А в 1986 Рой на вышеупомянутой "Mercury" вместе с Перкинсом, Льюисом и Кэшем записывает "Class Of '55".
И наконец, "Virgin". Сотрудничество с "Virgin" в 1986 началось с перезаписи 19 своих старых хитов и записи нескольких новых песен к фильмам, из них "Wild Hearts Run Out Of Time" и дуэт с К. Д. Лэнг "Crying". Кроме этих замечательных событий стоит отметить "Travelin' Wilburys", "Blak & White Night" и записи к альбому "Mystery Girl". Так же очередная смена имеджа - у Роя в ноябре 1988 появился "конский хвост". К сожалению этот период был последний.

Да, кроме Притти Вумэн он и не создал ничего толкового!
Его можно смело причислить к исполнителям с одним хитом!

Хоть Вы и Бугор, позвольте с Вами не согласиться. С таким же успехом можно заявить, что кроме "естедей" Битлз ничего не создали, "Сэтисфэкшн" единственная толковая песня у Роллинг Стоунз, а Элвис - кроме "Лав ми тендер" не записал ни одной стоящей песни.

По существу вопроса. Я как поклонник творчества Роя Орбисона не вижу ни одного провального периода. Могу лишь сказать, что по поводу лучшего я не оригинален: "Монументальный" период первой половины 60-х. Все его хиты оттуда.

Возможно у него есть еще много хороших песен, но я и большинство людей их просто не знают!

Давайте не будем в качестве показателя таланта исполнителя использовать количество передаваемых по радио песен. Тем более речь идёт об исполнителе, который лучшие свои вещи записывал 40 лет назад.
"Вы хочете песен? Их есть у меня!". Вот только несколько:
Only The Lonely, Blue Avenue, Crying, Blue Angel, I'm Hurtin', Love Hurts, Loneliness, Working Tor The Man, Dance, Lana, All Ihave To Do Is Dream, Claudette, I'd Be A Legend In My Time...
И ещё очень много хороших песен, которые и по радио крутят.

Я по радио еще "You Got It" неоднократно слышал.
