Doting Macca sure can pick 'em






It was a case of easy pickings for doting Sir Paul McCartney as he gave his little grandson a flower.

Sir Paul, 64, spent a few happy hours in the sunshine in London's Hyde Park with his daughter Stella, 35, and her two-year-old son Miller.

The trio walked around together, sat in the sun, had tea and watched the swans before the former Beatle wandered off for a stroll by himself.

The loving grandad saw the flower, picked it and gave it to Miller, to the youngster's delight.

But there is a chance Sir Paul's generosity could put him in hot water - picking the flower meant he had broken Royal Parks regulations and could face a fine.

But with an estimated £725 million ($1.5 billion) fortune and sitting 102nd in the Sunday Times Rich List, perhaps he should just let it be . . .

Having seen Heather Mills become American TV's newest sweetheart, Sir Paul McCartney could be forgiven for shutting the curtains and brooding over his lot.

But the former Beatle showed it was Good Day Sunshine after he chased the blues away with his daughter and grandson.

The 64-year-old pop legend spent the day in London's sun-blushed Hyde Park with two-year-old grandson Miller and fashion designer daughter Stella, 35.

After all his recent divorce woes, Sir Paul seemed in a relaxed mood as he enjoyed an afternoon in London's Hyde Park with daughter Stella and grandson Miller.

Sir Paul, who pushed toddler's pram along, even plucked a flower from a plant he was passing by to give to little Miller as a keepsake of their day out.

Sporting open-toe sandals and slacks with a jacket casually slung over his shoulder the rock-star grandad looked like he didn't have a care in the world.

No-one could blame the star if he bore a frown at the moment.

Last week it was revealed that his predicted wealth on the influential rich-list had nosedived amid expectations that he will have to pay out £100m in his divorce settlement to Heather Mills.

Experts have shunted him down from being the 65th richest person in Britain last year to 102nd this year. He is now valued at £725 million.

Meanwhile his former wife has become a reality TV star in the US after a string of performances in the U.S. version of Strictly Come Dancing. She is still in the contests and has won rave reviews.

Toddler Miller is Stella McCartney's first child by her husband of three years, magazine publisher Alasdhair Willis, 36, after the couple wed in 2003.

In December, Stella, gave birth to her second child, naming the child after her late mother Linda - Bailey Linda Olwyn Willis.

Sir Paul has four grandchildren in total. His other daughter Mary having two sons named Arthur and Elliot.

After his first wife Linda died in 1998, McCartney began a relationship with Mills which saw them married in 2002 and the following year she gave birth to their daughter Beatrice Milly McCartney.

U2, McCartney Auction Raises $2.4 Million For Hurricane Charity

A fundraising auction of music memorabilia from Jimi Hendrix, The Edge, Bono, Paul McCartney and others smashed expectations and brought in $2.4 million, some of which will go to a charity that replaces musical equipment lost to hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

"It was the best sale we've ever done," said Darren Julien, president and CEO of Julien's Auctions, which ran the event benefiting Music Rising.

A guitar owned by Jimi Hendrix was sold for $480,000.

Other highlights included a pair of sunglasses donated by Bono that went for $24,000, a guitar from Bob Dylan that sold for $192,000, and a guitar from Paul McCartney that brought in $81,600.

The event Saturday night at the Hard Rock Cafe was so popular that bidding went on for three hours after the scheduled conclusion, Julien said.

The final amount going to the charity had not been tallied yet, he said. For some items, the total selling price goes to Music Rising, while other items designated a portion of the proceeds.

Has the Heather diet taken it's toll on Sir Paul?

The suit is apparently the same. But it is still remarkably easy to spot the difference.

Just one look tells you Sir Paul McCartney is a little less of the man he was.

Strolling in Central London, he looked in good spirits, smiling as he chatted animatedly on his mobile phone and waving to passersby.

But his grey suit told a different story.

It looked enormous compared to the tighter fit of an identical one he was pictured in with estranged wife Heather Mills in those happy, early days of their marriage.

Photographed at Heathrow Airport with the former model three years ago, the Beatle was a fine figure of contentment.

Now his face looks gaunt, his jacket hangs from his shoulders and his trousers look a little too roomy.

Sir Paul, 64, appears to be showing the strain of his divorce from Miss Mills, which is currently going through the courts.

It has been a difficult time for the pop legend, whose four-year marriage to Miss Mills broke up last May.

He has been supported through the split by his close family and friends, but the legal wranglings are believed to be fierce.

They have involved arguments over the care of the couple's three-year old daughter Beatrice.

Although no divorce settlement has been agreed, it emerged last week that Sir Paul has fallen out of the top 100 of this year's Sunday Times Rich List because of the amount it is predicted Miss Mills could receive.

He plummeted from his ranking as the 65th richest person in Britain last year to 102nd this time round.

He now has an estimated fortune of £725 million ($1.5 billion), thanks to the predicted £100 million ($200 million) divorce settlement experts believe he will pay his estranged wife.

Miss Mills, 39, has been winning friends in the U.S. with her apperance on reality show Dancing with the Stars.

She was eliminated earlier this week, leaving the show with a plea for viewers to follow her lead and become vegans.

(May 1) - A man who worked as a security guard for Paul McCartney and Heather Mills is giving an insider's view on their messy split.

Sean Ghent, who until recently was employed by McCartney, told the British tabloid Sunday Mirror that while it is Mills who has been vilified in the split, he sees her as a victim of his cold and cruel behavior.

He told the paper that he was present when Mills learned that the Beatles great had cut off her bank and credit cards; she was buying a train ticket and her bank card was rejected. McCartney also cut off her account at a local market.

Ghent, a former soldier, also claims that McCartney was frequently depressed and the former Beatle's abuse of alcohol and marijuana was a key factor in the marital split.

Mills "is one of the most impressive people I have ever met and has been a huge influence on me," Ghent told the paper. "I want people to understand some of that. I don't get why the British public are so down on her. She's made a success of herself against all the odds. She just wants to influence change and to inspire people.

"You don't see her shopping on Bond Street or dressed in designer clothes. But she seems to be a hate figure just because she married a British icon."

However, British celebrity columnist Neil Sean told CBS News Correspondent Mark Phillips that he remains skeptical about Ghent's claims.

"This guy has come out of the woodwork. We didn't know that much about him. If you look at the period of time he's actually worked for the family, it's amazing the things that he's claiming … slightly dubious, I think."

Mills has enjoyed some good press in the U.S. lately as the most recently-departed contestant on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars." Although she has a prosthetic leg, Mills amazed American viewers with her graceful -- and sometimes acrobatic –- moves.

But benevolence towards Mills, who was described on the show as an "animal rights campaigner," apparently does not span the Atlantic.

Ghent "talks in his interview about [McCartney] being depressed," Sean said. "Wouldn't you be, living with Heather?"

You'd think Sir Paul McCartney would be sick of the sight of his ex-missus - but he's been bowled over by someone who's the spitting image of her.

The former Beatle has been smitten by the ample charms of opera singer Natasha Marsh.

He couldn't take his eyes off 31-year-old Natasha - who bears a striking resemblance to Heather Mills - at the Classical Brit Awards on Thursday night.

As she sashayed past his table at London's Royal Albert Hall, 64-year-old Macca was overheard telling a pal: "She is very sexy." And he sat enthralled as soprano Natasha, wearing a long, figure-hugging gown with a daringly plunging neckline, took to the stage for her duet with British tenor Alfie Boe - even swaying his head in time to the music as she sang.

Clearly her uncanny likeness to Heather - with whom he is locked in a bitter divorce battle over his £800 million ($1.5 billion) fortune - didn't dampen his ardour.

Macca, whose new CD, Memory Almost Full, is out next month, asked to meet her backstage.

Our spy reports: "Macca's jaw hit the floor when Natasha walked past in her slinky dress. He sort of nodded as if to show his approval and whispered to his friend that she was very sexy. He couldn't take his eyes off her and was smiling when she went up to perform. He looked smitten."

Sir Paul, who won Best Album for Ecce Cor Meum, his "labour of love" for late wife Linda, was in a great mood all night - cracking jokes and posing for pictures. He even rubbed Myleene Klass's baby bump, telling her: "It's a good luck thing!"

I'm A Celebrity star Myleene, who is due this autumn, said: "I can't believe Sir Paul McCartney just felt my baby kick. He must be a very good father, he is so gentle."

Natasha's spokeswoman, Alexa Pentecost at EMI Classics, confirmed yesterday: "Sir Paul asked to be introduced to Natasha afterwards, he was very impressed by her.

"They met in the dressing room area and talked for ages. He took away a copy of her album, Amour."

But did he take her phone number, too?
