Noel Gallagher Unveils New Oasis Album

Upon returning from Los Angeles where Oasis have been completing the follow up to ‘Heathen Chemistry’, Noel Gallagher has been talking about his favourite tracks on what he describes as his favourite album since ‘Definitely Maybe’.

As previously reported, the new, as-yet-untitled 12 track album is scheduled to hit shops on May 16 and for the first time features soungwriting contributions from both Noel and Liam Gallagher as well as guitarist Gem Archer and bass player Andy Bell.

"The finished album is my favourite one of the last four,” Gallagher explained, “Because we're all contributing to the songwriting there's a different feel to it. In fact the only songs that sound like Oasis are Andy Bell's funnily enough.

"I've been listening to a lot of Bob Dylan last year, Liam was obviously some guy who used to be in a band in Liverpool, Gem's a very rock and roll, but not in a Jet way if you know what I mean. Andy's just sound like Oasis, which is great."

"If I had to pick one [favourite] it would be ‘The Importance Of Being Idle’," he explained to Radio 1, "That sounds a bit like The Kinks, a bit like The La's, a bit Liverpudlian. I think it's got the best lyrics.

“I'm getting quite fed up with London at the minute, there's one song called ’Part Of The Queue’ which is about living in London and how you always seem to be queuing up for things in that city and how it almost … when I moved to London about 12 years ago it blew me away but the novelty has worn off. It's become so overcrowded over the last three or four years that we're upping sticks and moving."

Despite being forced to reject one track the Noel sang on as a possible first single as Liam reportedly “threw his cans out the pram" the guitarist, is impressed with his brother’s songwriting contributions to the album.

"The most interesting thing will be when you hear Liam's songs,” he continued, “They are very, very good. A song called ’Guess God Thinks I'm Able’. The end 30 seconds will blow you away. It's great."

HOLD BACK FROM THE WHOLE 'TRUTH'

NOEL GALLAGHER has said OASIS planned to release a double album – but they decided against it to piss off their record company.

The album, which is rumoured to have a working title of ’Don’t Believe The Truth’, is now nearing completion and is set for release in mid-May.

Speaking in the current issue of Nuts magazine, Gallagher said they had "66 songs" for the record, but have decided on 11 or twelve.

He said: "The album’s finished. We recorded it three times. It’s been a major pain in the arse but it’s come out really good. We’ve written 66 songs between the four of us and I think there’s 11 or 12 on the album. We were going to do a double album, but we don’t want to give Sony too much ‘cos it’s our last one, so fuck ‘em."

Top Story: Oasis Announce New Single And Album

After months of rumour and speculation, Xfm can announce that Oasis new single will be ‘Lyla’ which will be released on May 16. It will be the first track to be taken from the band’s new album which will be entitled ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’, which follows two weeks later on May 30. Both releases are out on Noel Gallagher’s Big Brother Recordings record label.

Describing the track ‘Lyla’ Noel Gallagher said, ''It's The Who. ‘Lyla’ was specifically designed for pogo-ing. We wrote 66 tracks and ‘Lyla’ was one that we revisited late on and it's ended up on the album. I’m happy with every track on the album.”

While the identify of the ‘Lyla’ in the song is as yet unclear, the official release statement claims; “‘Lyla’ is ‘Sally’s sister…” possible drawing refereence to the Sally mentioned in the Oasis single ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’.

‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ will be the sixth Oasis studio album – and their their first since the number one selling ‘Heathen Chemistry’ back in 2002.

Oasis will also be embarking on an extensive world tour that includes nine huge shows in the UK, including seven stadium gigs. Tickets for these dates sold out in record time, and the band have recently added shows in Newcastle and Ireland due to the huge demand for tickets.

Xfm can also reveal that further UK and European dates are expected to be announced soon, while rumours continue to circulate that the band will be headlining the V Festival alongside Franz Ferdinand and Scissor Sisters.

OASIS - THE WHOLE 'TRUTH'!

NME.COM has uncovered the tracklisting for OASIS new album ’DON’T BELIEVE THE TRUTH’.

The album will be released on May 30, preceded by a new single ’Lyla’ on May 16.

Speaking about first single ‘Lyla’, Noel Gallagher said the track is “the Soundtrack of our Lives doing The Who on Skol in a psychedelic city in the sky (or something!)” adding, “While ‘Part Of The Queue’ doesn’t sound remotely like anything we’ve ever done before. Legendary Cuban percussionist Lenny Castro shuffles up a storm. Amazing.”

Noel Gallagher Talks Through New Oasis Album

Oasis helmsman Noel Gallagher has given a track by track description of his band’s new album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ and has revealed that Martin Duffy from Primal Scream guests on the highly anticipated new release.

In a new interview featured in next month's issue of Q Magazine, Gallagher talks through the band’s new 12-track album ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’, describing some of the inspirations behind the songs and what fans can expect.

‘Turn Up The Sun’ - “A bit like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, A stomper”
‘Mucky Fingers’ – Imagine Bob Dylan singing [The Velvet Underground’s] ‘Waiting For The Man’ with that frantic drumbeat.
‘Lyla’ – Our poppiest thing since ‘Roll With It’ Annoyingly catchy. A bit like The Who.”
‘Love Like A Bomb’ – ‘One of Liam’s. It starts off acoustic and Martin Duffy of Primal Scream plays this kinda country piano solo.”
‘The Importance Of Being Idle’ – “A cross between The Kinks and The La’s about being a lazy f**ker.”
‘The Meaning Of Soul’ – “Like Elvis on crack. We played it at Glastonbury like The Stooges.”

GALLAGHER DESTINED NOT TO MEET STARR

OASIS rocker NOEL GALLAGHER still hasn't met his BEATLES idol RINGO STARR, even though the legend's son is currently drumming for the British band.

The LIVE FOREVER stars - who are self-confessed worshipers of the Fab Four - jetted out to America last year (04) in a desperate bid to finish their troublesome sixth album, and they were hoping Los Angeles-based Starr would pay them a visit.

However, much to the band's disappointment, Starr - whose son ZAK STARKEY is temporarily filling in on the drums for Oasis - was back in England.

Gallagher says, "I've never even met him. Because he lives in LA, we were hoping he might show his face. But he was in England when we were recording there, so it wasn't meant to be."

В интервью NME певец группы Oasis Лиам Галлагер бросил взгляд на популярные нынче группы и в свойственной ему "любезной" манере высказал свое мнение о них, одобрив, как это ни странно, только Шарлотту Черч.
Вот что он сказал:
Franz Ferdinand – "Их певец (Алекс Капранос) напоминает мне гребаных Right Said Fred. Ставишь "I'm Too Sexy For My F**king Thing" рядом с их пластинками и даю любые деньги, что это один и тот же человек. Тот же чел! Просто он сел на диету Эткинса и отрастил волосы. Совсем не мое. Не люблю всю эту странную придурочную музыку."

NEW OASIS ALBUM APPEARS ONLINE

OASIS’ new album has appeared online ahead of its May 30 release date.

According to fans emailing NME.COM, ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ appeared on the German iTunes site yesterday (May 3), allowing users to listen to snippets and download it legally.

The full album was not hard to find on the site, and although only German users could buy the record, samples from each song on ’Don’t Believe The Truth’ could be accessed from any computer.

NME.COM contacted Apple but they declined to comment. A spokesperson for Oasis is currently unavailable.

The album was eventually removed from iTunes at around 6pm on May 4.
