John and Yoko fly to Ann Arbor, Michigan for the benefit concert to aid John Sinclair.
1973
A petition is organized by Radio Luxembourg to grant a pardon from the Queen for John's 1968 drug conviction. John is interviewed, via telephone, by DJ Tony Prince.
1974
US album release: Dark Horse (Apple SMAS 3418).
In the US, Ringo is awarded a gold disc by the RIAA.
In Los Angeles, John makes a surprise appearance on the ABC TV program "Monday Night Football". John gives a brief interview to Howard Cosell, giving his thoughts on American football, the crowds, an up-in-the-air answer on a Beatles reunion and ends with a plug for his album Walls And Bridges and Ringo's album Goodnight Vienna.

The Lennons buy a Renoir valued at at least half a million dollars.
1977

In the US, the ABC TV program "Midnight Special" airs the promo video for Paul's "Mull Of Kintyre".

Wings perform in concert at the Empire Pool, Wembley, England ("Wings UK Tour").
1980
12:10am. In New York, Dr. Stephan Lynn faces the press to inform them that John was dead on arrival. Extensive resuscitative efforts were made with no success.
2:00am. Twentieth Precinct. Chief of Decetives, James T. Sullivan, holds a press conference.
5:00am. At Friar Park, George receives a call from his sister Louise that John has been shot.
In Poole, Dorset, Aunt Mimi wakes up when she hears John's name mentioned on the BBC World Service radio brodcast. Neil Aspinall phones her but can't bring himself to tell her. She returns to the radio and learns the shocking news.
In the US, Richard Lester, director of the Beatles' first two movies, appears on the NBC TV show "Today".
Ringo and Barbara arrive at the Dakota to comfort Yoko and Sean. As they leave the Dakota, John's first son Julian arrives.
UK TV is rearranged to broadcast tributes to John. BBC1 airs the "Nationwide" tribute and the Beatles' film "Help!". On BBC2, the Radio One DJ Anne Nightingale presents a special "Old Grey Whistle Test" tribute.
