Концерт был великолепен.
В Питере в Мюзик-Холле, народ был согнан с балконов и бенуаров в партер, где с удобством и разместился. Сидел в результате по центру на 9 ряду. Звук был нехорош. Не знаю, чьи там звукорежиссеры, но зал они отстроить не сумели. Но в принципе это было и неважно. Временами возникало ощущение, что музыканты не слышат друг друга. В некоторых сложных ритмически риффах группа разваливалась. Джексон опять же делал страшные глаза, но по моему световикам, которые его ослепляли. У него не кларнет, а сопрано саксофон. Ну и альт и тенор, в которые он дул одновременно. Это конечно зрелище!
Органист играл на 2-х Roland HP-7, это самый лучший цифровой эмулятор хаммонда. Тоже хотел себе такой, но оказалось он стоит 1800$. Как он бас партии ногами играл, супер!
Барабанщик монстр, джазовый замок, 1альт и 2 напольных тома, очень интересная манера игры, классический рок 70-х.
Ну Хэммилл - тут можно вообще ничего не говорить. Главный. Плохо играет на гитаре, но так плохо, что кажется так и должно быть! Гитары 2, Guild и Gretch. Вокал удивительный. Баритон, хрип, фальцет, все очень драматично. Подача всем телом. Супер!
Понял наконец-то, как они все это играют, как думают и общаются на сцене. Очень интересно!
У нас они Killer не сыграли, а жаль, очень хотелось! Сыграли Refugees.

Review

The music of Van der Graaf Generator is complex, intelligent and inspired. It can also be obscure and unapproachable, but it is undisputedly an art form in itself.
The main part of this film was recorded at Charleroi, Palais des Expos, on 27th September 1975, this legendary gig captures the classic Van der Graaf line up of Hugh Banton, Guy Evans, David Jackson and Peter Hammill on their 1975 French tour.
Although the band only recently reformed following Peter Hammill¿s solo projects, Van der Graaf immediately create their own unique levels of intensity and vision as they take us through the entire Godbluff album. Complimenting this stunning performance, is rare continental studio footage from the early 1970s featuring incendiary performances of Theme One and the whole of A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers.
Also featured are two rare tracks from German television which completes the round of of just about all of the survivng Van der Graaf footage.

В прошлом году легендарные Van Der Graaf Generator воссоединились для проведения серии концертов, на котором исполнялся и новый материал. В итоге, в марте увидит свет абсолютно новый альбом группы. На нем записано девять композиций, причем только одна из них длится более десяти минут (что нетипично для коллектива). Тем не менее, Van Der Graaf Generator остались верны себе, и можно с уверенностью сказать, что это совершенно уникальные музыканты, которых ни с кем невозможно перепутать.

Following on from the 2005 album 'Present', Van Der Graaf Generator have put together a brand new album that will be released on 17th March 2008 titled 'Trisector'. Van Der Graaf Generator now a stripped-down trio of original 1968 members Hugh Banton (organ), Guy Evans (drums) and Peter Hammill (vox, guitar, piano), made a storming return to live performance in the spring of 2007. The band started recording their new album in July 2007, after a period of mixing and overdubbing 'Trisector' is now ready for release. There are nine pieces on the album, one of them instrumental. Unusually for VDGG, only one of these is more than ten minutes long - indeed, five come in at under five minutes. There are, of course, passages of great complexity but there's also a confidence about the group which allows them to leave some simple things as they are.

А последний альбом VDGG- вобще улетный. Я думала, что без Джексона они поубавят, но Питер взял соло гитару....

Ужасно приятно, когда афишами предстоящего концерта VDGG заклеена вся Москва.
