** The following events in Beatles history all took place on November 16. **

------------------------------------------------------------------------
[B] Beatles * [J] John * [P] Paul * [G] George * [R] Ringo * [O] Other
------------------------------------------------------------------------

[B] 1957
The Quarry Men perform at Stanley Abbatoir Social Club, Old Swan,
Liverpool. This is a dance for the social club members of a large
slaughterhouse company. The performance is alleged to have been
poorly received.

[B] 1960
The Beatles perform at the Kaiserkeller Club, Grosse Freiheit,
Hamburg, West Germany.

[B] 1962
The Beatles travel to EMI House in London for their second
appearance on Radio Luxembourg, for the program "The Friday
Spectacular". The Beatles are interviewed and their songs are
played in front of a live audience. Both sides of their single,
"Love Me Do" and "P.S. I Love You", are played. The program is
broadcast on November 23.

[B] 1963
The Beatles, on a tour of Britain, perform two shows at the Winter
Gardens Theatre in Bournemouth, Hampshire. With news of
Beatlemania spreading overseas, three US camera crews for the major
US television networks (ABC, NBC, CBS) film parts of this nights
performances and also footage of the audience goings-on. The
reports showed up on American television on the nights of November
16, 19, and 21, and also on December 7. The US coverage was quite
condescending, with reporter Alexander Kendrick trying to be acidly
witty by saying of The Beatles, "They symbolise the 20th century
non-hero, as they make non-music, wear non-haircuts and give
none-mersey" (Lewisohn).

[B] 1964
The Beatles, at Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, London, record a
television appearance for the BBC TV program "Top of the Pops".
They lip-sync to their songs "I Feel Fine" and "She's a Woman".
Broadcast on December 3.

Who Loves Him [John]/It's Alright [Sean]" (Polydor).

My Feet" (Parlophone). "Once Upon a Long Ago" was previously
released on the UK version of McCartney's compilation album "All
the Best". The flip side was co-written by McCartney and Declan
MacManus (Elvis Costello). Neither song released in the US. Also
released this day as a CD single with the songs "Once Upon a Long
Ago/Back On My Feet/Don't Get Around Much Anymore/Kansas City"
(Parlophone). The last two songs will later appear on McCartney's
album "CHOBA B CCCP (Back in the USSR)". Also released this day as
a 12" single with the songs "Once Upon a Long Ago (long
version)/Back On My Feet/Midnight Special (Prisoner's Song)/Don't
Get Around Much Anymore" (Parlophone). First release of the long
version of "Once Upon a Long Ago"; "Midnight Special" will also
later appear on the "CHOBA B CCCP" album.
