"Melody Maker" publishes a story that the Beatles are searching for a new bass player. Klaus Voorman is the leading candidate of three choices.

In the UK, BBC1 broadcasts the Beatles' film "Help!" during their annual "Boxing Day With The Beatles". BBC2 transmits a 16mm film of the Beatles, performing at the Cavern Club on August 22, 1962, on the music program "The Old Grey Whistle Test".
1973
In the UK, during BBC1's "Boxing Day With The Beatles" slot, the film "A Hard Day's Night" is broadcast. Later BBC1 airs the program "Disney Time, introduced by Paul and Linda.

The first night of a series of concerts held at The Hammersmith Odeon in London for the People of Kampuchea, featuring Queen, The Clash, The Pretenders, The Who, Elvis Costello, Wings, and many more artists. The events which were organised by Paul McCartney and Kurt Waldheim were aimed to raise money for the victims of war-torn Cambodia.
