Вот, что об этом концерте пишет мой знакомый из Англии: ... this was a VERY good show with a few surprises > ... three songs from the standard set were not played > because Paul lost his voice earlier in the week -- we > were delighted with three acoustic songs not played on > the tour before (and, as far as I know, the first time > Two Of Us has EVER been performed in concert by Paul). > > His band is very good, sound quality was excellent, > especially in the acoustic songs, and the images on > the video screens helped to fill a huge venue (18,000 > seats!) > > Merchandise was very expensive -- T-shirts ?25 (1,200 > rubles), programmes ?15 (750 rubles), jackets ?70 > (3,500 rubles) -- and this after paying ?105 (5,000 > rubles) for two tickets! > > Here's the set. > > * electric set * > Hello Goodbye (Paul on bass) > Jet (Paul on bass) > All My Loving (Paul on bass) > Getting Better (Paul on Les Paul) > (Coming Up not played) > Let Me Roll It (Paul on Les Paul) > Lonely Road (Paul on acoustic) > (Driving Rain not played) > Your Loving Flame (Paul on grand piano) > > * solo acoustic set * > Blackbird (Paul on acoustic) > Every Night (Paul on acoustic) > We Can Work It Out (Paul on acoustic) > You Never Give Me Your Money / Carry That Weight (Paul > on stage-front synth: electric piano setting) > Fool On The Hill (Paul on stage-front synth: piano > setting) > Here Today (Paul on acoustic) > Something (Paul on ukelele) > > * band acoustic set * > Eleanor Rigby (Paul on acoustic) > Here, There And Everywhere (Paul on acoustic) > Things We said Today (Paul on acoustic)(tour debut?) > I've Just Seen A Face (Paul on acoustic) (tour debut?) > Calico Skies (Paul on acoustic) > Two Of Us (Paul on acoustic) (live debut?) > Michelle (Paul on acoustic) > > * 2nd electric set * > Band On The Run (Paul on bass) > Back In The USSR (Paul on bass) > (Maybe I'm Amazed not played) > Let 'Em In (Paul on grand piano) > My Love (Paul on grand piano) > She's Leaving Home (Paul on bass) > Can't Buy Me Love (Paul on bass) > Birthday (Paul on bass) > Live And Let Die (Paul on grand piano) > Let It Be (Paul on grand piano) > Hey Jude (Paul on stage-front synth: piano setting) > > * 1st encore * > The Long And Winding Road (Paul on stage-front synth: > piano setting) > Lady Madonna (Paul on stage-front synth: piano > setting) > I Saw Her Standing There (Paul on bass) > > * 2nd encore * > Yesterday (Paul on acoustic) > Sgt. Beatles For Sale:
'A HARD DAY'S NIGHT' (Lennon) That Paul had completed 'Can't Buy Me Love' alone encouraged John's competitive nature to get the next A-side. Such was his keenness that on privately hearing that the new Beatles film was to be called A Hard Day's Night, he went home after filming and wrote the song that night, before Paul found out. The song was then presented to the other Beatles as a fait accompli the next morning. John's coup over Paul was not complete. In writing the song so fast, he had not worked out its arrangement properly. To his embarrassment, when they came to record it John found he could not reach the high notes of the middle-eight/chorus refrain, which the higher-pitched Paul had to sing. Beyond the strong opening verse and middle eight John too had struggled to write much more on his own. In their partnership Paul traditionally helped out on the second and third verses of John's songs -here the second verse is notably weak and John, no doubt sensing he had got as far as he could, resorted to repeating the first verse three times. Completed at speed, the lyrics simply appear to describe John's return home after a day's filming. They are revealing as an honest account of the Beatles' tiredness - their schedule for filming was often from 8 a.m. until late. The music too borrows from the previous single 'Can't Buy Me Love', featuring a similar bluesy three-chord verse and a minor chord-heavy chorus/middle eight. The film's opening sequence, for which this track was overlaid, dictated its arrangement. Under George Martin's direction the stark, suspended G chord from Georges 12-string guitar announces the film's start, after the title credits. To fit with shots of running feet as the Beatles flee from chasing fans, a bongo plays double time, heightening the pace. Martins other key input here was to create the unusual solo where George's 12-string guitar is matched note for note on the piano.

Yellow Submarine.

LP A Hard Day's Night и т.д. |
A Hard Day's Night выкинули When I Get Home, а Band On The Run выпустили вообще без самой Band On The Run (вместо нее поместили Silly Love Songs и диск назвали, по-моему, "Пол Маккартни + Уингс")? |
