It is announced that the Strawberry Field children's home, immortalised by the Beatles, is to close.

Iconic artist and philanthropist Paul McCartney is honored as the 2012 MusiCares Person of the Year at a special event celebrating his exceptional artistic achievements as well as his philanthropic work.

Brian becomes chairman of the board of directors of NEMS, and is made a director of the Robert Stigwood Organization Limited and Drapleaf Limited.

Evening: Brian goes to the club Bag O'Nails to see the Jimi Hendrix Experience perform.

A plaque of the Beatles' iconic yellow submarine, which was stolen six months ago from Liverpool's Albert Dock, was set to be replaced by a new creation. The 5ft design featured the faces of the John, Paul, Ringo and George peering through its portholes. The new submarine would hang outside the museum dedicated to the band, The Beatles Story. The former plaque has never been found and the thieves had never been caught.

Harry Nilsson, close friend of John and Ringo, dies from a heart attack. He was 52 years old.
