The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-enshrined guitarist and founder of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna returns with a stunning acoustic masterpiece, his first new recording since 2002's Grammy-nominated Blue Country Heart.
Continuing the journey through American roots music he started in the early 1960's, Jorma cooks up a tasty collection of down-home blues, bluegrass, folk, country gospel and reggae. Stars In My Crown was recorded in Nashville and is rooted in classic Americana, flavored with a laid-back bluesy feel.

With fresh takes on soul-searching spirituals and many original compositions, the new record is vastly more personal than previous recordings, as evidenced by the self-penned "Heart Temporary," "A Life Well Lived," and "Living In The Moment." The album reveals Kaukonen's increasingly reflective outlook as the success of his Fur Peace Guitar Ranch and his full and varied life of music and family leads him to ask on the liner notes "Who would have thought that life would be this good?"

Jorma's love for Lightnin' Hopkins manifests in "Come Back Baby," and his continued channeling of Reverend Gary Davis is heard in "There's A Table Sitting In Heaven." A satisfying jewel is Jorma's cover of the classic reggae song "The Rivers Of Babylon." After Jerry Garcia gave him his first reggae album - the soundtrack to the movie The Harder They Come - Kaukonen always wanted to record the tune. "This is crucial reggae for sure," says Jorma.

Backing Kaukonen are the outstanding talents of Barry Mitterhoff (Hot Tuna), Rob Ickes (Blue Highway), Reese Wynans (Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble), Tim Stafford (Blue Highway, Alison Krauss), Greg Leisz (Dave Alvin) and Sally Van Meter (Tony Furtado Band). This performance was recorded live in front of a SOLD OUT audience at The House of Blues in Hollywood, Calif in 1995. This CD captures a once in a life time event with classic masterpieces from Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship performed live. This concert event includes the last recorded appearance by Grace Slick and features Marty Balin's "Miracles." As a songbook, this is an important document in Jefferson Starship history.This concert featured legendary members Jack Casady, Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Prairie Prince, Mark "Slick" Aguilar, Tim Gorman, and Darby Gould and a special guest apperance by Grace Slick who came out of retirement to perform at this show.

Go Ride The Music And West Pole

Following on from the release of "A Night At the Family Dog" last year, this new DVD brings together two further TV programmes from producer Ralph J Gleason covering the San Francisco psychedelia scene of the late sixties and early seventies. The first programme "Go Ride The Music" features two giants of the era performing live in concert. Jefferson Airplane perform at an intimate indoor venue whilst Quicksilver Messenger Service are filmed in the open air. There are also cameo appearances from David Crosby and Jerry Garcia. "West Pole" features a diverse range of acts including Ace Of Cups, Sons Of Champlin, the Grateful Dead and the Steve Miller Band performing live in various settings and takes a more analytical view of the music and the times.

"Surrealistic pillow" и "Takes off" - мои самые любимые:))) вообще люблю Вудстокскую запись, где они играют "Saturday afternoon", "Volunteers" и "White rabbit".

А лично я бы оооочень посоветовал послушать альбом Grace Slick&The Great Society - 1966 Live At The Matrix (Collector's Item) - что-то в этом роде - короче он на торренсру есть - White Rabbit на нём просто бесподобен...да и вообще весь альбом оооочень крут!

Да, это мощнейший релиз.

Мне нравится весь период по 1978 год включительно, плюс два живых альбома и ветви само собой: Hot Tuna, Great S. и вообще слушаю их в любомом виде. Современные версии традиционно отметаю, не до них - старое бы успеть. Очень люблю JA.

Самые любимые мои альбомы у Jefferson Airplane, это :
"After Bathing At Baxter's"
"Surrealistic pillow"

Кто-нибудь слушал? Как оно? - в сравнении с Jefferson Airplane - и кто-нибудь может сказать - на каких конкретно альбомах поёт Grace Slick??? - и если кто там ещё у них пел, кто заслуживает внимания - тоже какие альбомы?

oops! скучно тут как-то... А ведь есть такое слово "эволюция", еще "развитие(как туда, так и обратно)", еще "судьба", ну и "кризис возраста". Группа-то умная, хотя и в каждый свой этап по-разному. Так что - позволю себе вспомнить:
