>так почему кто-то другой не мог сделать кавер >песни Битлз не хуже самих битлов
А если я скажу, что битловские копии не дотягивают до оригиналов, можно признать версию Натуралов уступающую битловской? Если уж такое желание считать этот вариант лучше, хорошо бы назвать признаки и достоинства, кои в песне появились благодаря новому прочтению. А то вкусовщинка какая-то невнятная получается.

Touré, "I Would Die 4 U: Why Prince Became an Icon" English | ISBN: 1476705496 | 2013 | EPUB | 176 pages | 2 MB
Celebrated journalist, TV personality, and award-winning author Touré investigates one of the most enigmatic and fascinating figures in contemporary American culture:
PRINCE
Drawing on new research and enlivened by Touré’s unique pop-cultural fluency, I Would Die 4 U relies on surprising and in-depth interviews with Prince’s band members, former girlfriends, musicologists, and even Bible scholars to deconstruct the artist’s life and work.
Prince’s baby boomer status allowed him to play a wise older brother to the latchkey kids of generation X. Defying traditional categories of race, gender, and sexuality, he nonetheless presents a very traditional conception of religion and God in his music. He was an MTV megastar and a religious evangelist, using images of sex and profanity to invite us into a musical conversation about the healing power of God. By demystifying the man and his music, I Would Die 4 U shows us how Prince defined a generation.

Chuck Haddix, "Bird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker" 2013 | ISBN-10: 025203791X, 0252080890 | 224 pages | PDF | 3 MB
Saxophone virtuoso Charlie "Bird" Parker began playing professionally in his early teens, became a heroin addict at 16, changed the course of music, and then died when only 34 years old. His friend Robert Reisner observed, "Parker, in the brief span of his life, crowded more living into it than any other human being." Like Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane, he was a transitional composer and improviser who ushered in a new era of jazz by pioneering bebop and influenced subsequent generations of musicians.
Meticulously researched and written, Bird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker tells the story of his life, music, and career. This new biography artfully weaves together firsthand accounts from those who knew him with new information about his life and career to create a compelling narrative portrait of a tragic genius.
While other books about Parker have focused primarily on his music and recordings, this portrait reveals the troubled man behind the music, illustrating how his addictions and struggles with mental health affected his life and career. He was alternatively generous and miserly; a loving husband and father at home but an incorrigible philanderer on the road; and a chronic addict who lectured younger musicians about the dangers of drugs. Above all he was a musician, who overcame humiliation, disappointment, and a life-threatening car wreck to take wing as Bird, a brilliant improviser and composer.
With in-depth research into previously overlooked sources and illustrated with several never-before-seen images, Bird: The Life and Music of Charlie Parker corrects much of the misinformation and myth about one of the most influential musicians of the twentieth century.
I'd Rather Be the Devil: Skip James and the Blues by Stephen Calt English | Apr 1, 2008 | ISBN: 1556527462 | 400 Pages | PDF | 15,9 MB
Skip James (1902–1969) was perhaps the most creative and idiosyncratic of all blues musicians. Drawing on hundreds of hours of conversations with James himself, Stephen Calt here paints a dark and unforgettable portrait of a man untroubled by his own murderous inclinations, a man who achieved one moment of transcendent greatness in a life haunted by failure. And in doing so, Calt offers new insights into the nature of the blues, the world in which it thrived, and its fate when that world vanished.
Jimi Hendrix: The Man, the Magic, the Truth by Sharon Lawrence English | Feby 1, 2005 | ISBN: 0060562994 | 368 Pages | PDF | 79,3 MB
A biography of one of the world's most legendary rock stars.
I too have read many biographies of Jimi Hendrix. But when I saw this one was being published I felt that I had to read it because many of the other biographies about Jimi were penned by individuals who were too involved in Jimi's business (either while he was alive and after his death). For instance John McDermott's (with Eddie Kramer) biography is very interesting but may be somewhat suspect as Mr. McDermott is now an employee of Experience Hendrix.
But I have to say thank you to Ms. Lawrence both for her touching and poignant biography but also for being Jimi's friend when he did indeed desperately need a friend who was not interested in his business and who wanted nothing from him but his friendship. And from Ms. Lawrence's book, it is apparent she cherished Jimi and their friendship. So I have to thank her for sharing this part of her life with Jimi's fans. She portrays Jimi as a very polite, very giving, and very unassuming person...someone who did not think of himself as a genius, even though now it is apparent that he was. All Jimi wanted was to make music, the way he wanted to make it, no matter the cost and apparently it cost him his life. It is very tragic that Jimi did not have better management who actually cared about him and his talent, as it is apparent that Michael Jeffrey only cared about Michael Jeffrey and only cared about Jimi as long as he was making money for him. Unfortunately, as Ms. Lawrence points out, Jimi has not fared much better after his death. His image and his music are still being exploited so that persons who claim to be his family can make money and live off of his great legacy.

Between a Heart and a Rock Place: A Memoir by Pat Benatar English | 2010 | ISBN: 0061953776 | 256 Pages | PDF | 2 MB
For more than thirty years, Pat Benatar has been one of the most iconic women in rock music, with songs like "Heartbreaker," "Hit Me with Your Best Shot," and "Love Is a Battlefield" becoming anthems for multiple generations of fans. Now, in this intimate and uncompromising memoir, one of the bestselling female rock artists of all time shares the story of her extraordinary career, telling the truth about her life, her struggles, and how she won things—her way. From her early days in the New York club scene of the 1970s to headlining sold-out arena tours, Benatar offers a fascinating account of a life spent behind the microphone. As the first female artist ever to be played on MTV, she speaks candidly about the realities of breaking into the boys' club of rock and roll at a time when people everywhere still believed a woman's only place in popular music was as a girlfriend, a groupie, or a sex symbol. And though her fiery edge and aggressive swagger produced instant success, they also led to fights over her image that would linger for years to come. Going backstage and into the studio, Benatar sets the record straight about how her music evolved, illustrating the visionary role that her guitarist, producer, and eventual husband, Neil "Spyder" Giraldo, played in combining her classically trained voice with razor-sharp guitar to create her unique hard-rock sound. Together they formed a musical and spiritual bond that would last a lifetime, helping her stay true to herself while avoiding the pitfalls and excesses of rock stardom. Written with the attitude and defiance that embodies Pat Benatar's music, Between a Heart and a Rock Place is a rock-and-roll story unlike any other, a remarkable tale of playing by your own rules, even if that means breaking a few of theirs.

Sergeant Presley: Our Untold Story of Elvis’ Missing Years by Elisabeth Mansfield English | Sep 1, 2002 | ISBN: 1550225553 | 254 Pages | PDF | 11 MB
What happened when Elvis entered the army in 1958? Although many have speculated, for the first time we get the inside story. Rex Mansfield, the co-author, was inducted on the same day as Elvis in Memphis, went through basic training with him in Texas, and travelled with the King to Germany as well. Early on, Rex discovered that by not speaking with reporters, he could stay in Elvis’ inner circle, and ultimately became a close-knit member of the extended Presley family. Once overseas, Elvis befriended Elisabeth Stefaniak, a young German girl, and hired her to answer his fan mail. Elisabeth became romantically involved with him, but soon discovered Elvis’ wandering eye and double standards. Eventually, Rex and Elisabeth began to date secretly, and concealed it from Elvis. Torn between Elvis and Rex, Elisabeth was forced to choose — and she chose Rex. On June 4, 1960, they married. Elvis never again spoke to either one of them. And though glimpses of their story have been recounted in several Presley biographies, the two have remained silent for four decades. Until now. What will be revealed in Sergeant Presley? We learn about the beginning of Elvis’ addiction to prescription drugs. We see Elvis’ initial meeting with Priscilla Beaulieu, his eventual wife. And we hear about the daily goings-on both on the army bases and in the homes Elvis rented in Texas and Germany. More than the revelations, however, this is a story about three people: Rex, who becomes a close friend of Elvis; Elisabeth, who becomes one of Elvis’ girlfriends; and Elvis himself, during the ""missing years."
