EXCLUSIVE EXHIBITION OF RINGO STARR’S ART TO OPEN AT NEW YORK’S POP INTERNATIONAL GALLERIES
SUNDAY, JUNE 19-SUNDAY, JULY 3
Ringo Starr's computer art will make its debut June 19 at the first ever exhibition of his work, exclusively on display at Pop International Galleries located in New York City’s Soho district. The show, which was coordinated by Neal Glaser of ArtCelebs, will feature 14 different images, all hand signed by Ringo, and limited to only 100 impressions each. It will open to the public on Sunday, June 19, and launch with a private reception for the artist.
Speaking about his art work Ringo said: “I started in the late nineties with my computer art. While I was touring it gave me something to do in all those crazy hotels you have to stay in on the road.” Adding, with his trademark wit, “most of the titles for my pieces arrived because on computer you have to call them something, so I have. The easy way to look at it is, if it has a hat on - it will probably be called Hat Man.”
Neal Glaser first became aware of Ringo’s artwork in 1995 when he saw the Discover card which featured one of Ringo’s paintings. He was impressed by the “Abstract Face” which he found original, and fun. Neal immediately suggested doing a show of Ringo’s work, but was told that there was not interest in doing anything at that time. Persisting over the years, the show has finally come to fruition. After reviewing dozens of images, they narrowed it down to the 14 featured in this upcoming exhibition at Pop International.
Pop International, who also represent work by other pop icons and artists including Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Dezo Hoffmann, Roy Lichtenstein, Burton Morris, Francesco Scavullo, Andy Warhol and Ronnie Wood (among many others), is a perfect venue for Ringo’s Pop art. Speaking to the nature of pop art Ringo added: “In its way “Pop” art is always changing - like “Pop” artists. It’s a natural move like pop music and even Popeye the sailor man.”
Pop International Galleries is located at 473 West Broadway in New York City. Tel: (212) 533-4262. Fax: (212) 533-6553. The gallery is open 7 days. Monday through Saturday, 10am to 7pm and Sunday 11am to 6pm.
All of the artists proceeds will go to benefit the Lotus US Foundation Charity. The objectives of the Foundation are to fund, support, participate in and promote charitable projects aimed at advancing social welfare in diverse areas including, but not limited to: substance abuse, cerebral palsy, brain tumors, cancer, battered women and their children, homelessness and animals in need.

Where are my latex lovelies? Apr 5 2005 The Insider, Liverpool Echo
HERE'S a Macca mystery story - just who bought the Paul McCartney Spitting Image puppets?
Roger Law, who with Peter Fluck (try saying that after a few pints of Guinness) created the satirical show Spitting Image, sold off all the puppets after the last TV series back in 1996 for charity.
The sale was a big hit at Sotheby's auction house raising £370,105 but Roger doesn't know who bought what when flogging off the 1,000 puppets.
"We did two version sets of The Beatles - young and old ones. The elder Beatles were much crueler.
"I heard a rumour that Paul bought the older versions of himself but to this day I simply don't know. I'd love to know."
Roger says that the sale of the latex dummies saw Cherie Blair and hubby Tony going for £3,000 (Mrs Thatcher went for £11,224).
Of his grotesque caricatures featured in his book Still Spitting At Sixty out today (Harper Collins), Roger says that he hated Anne Robinson's so called 'sexy wink' but he hopes the puppet did her justice.
Other Scousers lampooned were Jimmy Tarbuck and Cilla Black and TV pundit Alan Hansen also ended up with a latex doppleganger.
But Roger says he does have one major regret about the series.
"We nearly always got it right but sometimes it was hard for our lurid imaginations to keep pace with reality.
"We had Margaret Thatcher in a man's suit ranting, bullying and going slightly mad.
"But we had grey John Major having an affair with some political underling.
"If only we had known with hindsight he was actually bonking Edwina 'Cruella De Vil' Currie - we would have had a field day."
Beatles' Offspring Top Richest Young People in Music
Late Beatle George Harrison's son Dhani is officially the wealthiest young person in British music, after inheriting a staggering $264 million fortune from his father.
Ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and her soccer star husband David have claimed second place with a massive $141 million fortune, followed by Harrison's late band mate John Lennon's son Sean at number three.
Experts predict singing sensation Joss Stone will top the list next year because despite not making it into the under-30s list's top ten, she is still one of Britain's highest musical earners with $9 million at only 17 years old.
The Top Ten Music Millionaires Under 30 are:
1. Dhani Harrison - $264 million 2. David and Victoria Beckham - $141 million 3. Sean Lennon - $37 million 4. Coldplay - $18 million each 5. Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton - $18 million 6. Ronan Keating - $18 million 7. Craig David - $16 million 8. Will Young - $15 million 9. Charlotte Church - $11 million 10. Denise Van Outen - $11 million

Fashion boss Stella McCartney gave birth to her first child yesterday. The 33-year-old daughter of Sir Paul McCartney had the 8 lb boy a week early.
She was resting in a London hospital last night with her husband, publisher Alasdhair Willis, at her bedside.
A spokesman would not confirm whether the couple had chosen a name for the baby, but said, "Stella and Alasdhair are thrilled with the birth of their baby son.
"Stella went into labour in the early hours of Friday morning and gave birth to a healthy 8 lb baby boy. Both mother and baby are well. Stella is now relaxing with her family by her side."
The baby is Sir Paul's third grandchild - his eldest daughter Mary has sons Arthur, five and Elliot, two.
Designer Stella, who works for the Gucci label, married Alasdhair, 33, in August 2003 at Mount Stuart, on the Isle of Bute.
Stella has no shortage of celebrity pals to advise her on motherhood.
She is close friends with Gwyneth Paltrow, who had daughter Apple last year, as well as Sadie Frost and Liv Tyler.

U2 frontman Bono and Madonna were at the ceremony at the Hackney Empire to pick up honorary awards, which were also awarded to The Beatles, Bob Marley and Elvis Presley.
Madonna was presented with her award by artist Tracey Emin Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and designer Stella McCartney put together a video tribute to the 46-year-old performer which saw them wear some of her most famous outfits, reports the BBC.
Paltrow wore a gold conical bodice and had her hair scooped to the top of her head, while McCartney donned a raspberry pink dress.
The pair sat on a bed with bare-chested men perched at the end, with Paltrow saying: "She's made it okay to be sexual as a woman."

Gwyn & Stella's Video Show
Madonna has been inducted into the first UK Music Hall Of Fame - and received a hilarious message from close pals Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Hollywood actress Gwyneth and designer Stella put together a video tribute to the Material Girl by wearing some of her outlandish outfits.
Gwyneth Paltrow modeled a gold conical bodice and scooped her hair to the top of her head, while Stella McCartney sported a raspberry pink " Like a Virgin" dress all in a filmed tribute to honoree Madonna.
Sitting on a bed framed with bare-chested men and McCartney at her side, Paltrow, 32, said, "She's made it okay to be sexual as a woman."
Meanwhile, McCartney said her pal " doesn't compromise that's why she's had such staying power." The designer also said about the get-up, "And you look a lot better in this than we do."
Madge gasped as they appeared on a big screen at London's Hackney Empire.
Wearing a Remembrance Day poppy, Madge gushed, "If someone had told me while I was a little girl growing up in mid-west America that one day I'd be married to a Brit, living in England and inducted into the UK Hall Of Fame, I would have said: `b******s to that'."

And there we were thinking that Stella McCartney and Gwyneth Paltrow didn't have a funny bone in their bodies.
But the pair are set to honour pal Madonna at tonight's launch of the UK Hall Of Fame in Hackney, East London, by doing a parody of one her gigs and dressing up as her.
A source says: "Gwyneth and Stella wear outrageous Madonna costumes. It's a scream."
Sean Lennon and Milla Jovovich are giving each other a spin.
The Beatle heir, whose previous consorts include Bijou Phillips and Elizabeth Jagger, seems besotted by the actress, who was once engaged to her "Resident Evil" director, Paul W.S. Anderson, and once married to her "Fifth Element" director, Luc Besson.
Naomi Campbell spotted the couple nuzzling at Sean (P. Diddy) Combs' Royal Birthday Ball last week.
"Is this what's going on now?" Campbell asked.
Jovovich nodded shyly.
"I love this!" Campbell shrieked and promptly took her pal aside for some serious girl talk.

Lennon, who has his own record deal with CAPITOL RECORDS, has previously been romantically linked to BIJOU PHILIPS and ELIZABETH JAGGER, while JOVOVICH was once married to FIFTH ELEMENT director LUC BESSON.
