NEW BEATLES BOOK FEATURES UNCUT NEW YORK TIMES ARTICLES
Out now is a commemorative newspaper titled Forever Fab: Original News Coverage From The New York Times, featuring every major article The Times ran on the Beatles between 1964 and 2004. The 80-page booklet, which comes in a keepsake box, features faithful reproductions of all the pages on which the articles originally appeared.
Forever Fab tells the Beatles story as it happened, also serving as a '60s time capsule with its coverage of the Civil Rights movement, and escalation of the war in Viet Nam, running side-by-side with the Times' front-page coverage of the group's historical milestones, such as their legendary 1965 Shea Stadium concert and 1970 breakup.
One of the more interesting reviews from the Times' archives comes from writer Richard Goldstein, who unlike the majority of the then "straight" press, actually panned the group's 1967 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album writing, "What a shame 'A Day In The Life' is only a coda to an otherwise undistinguished collection of work."
The collection features the full obituaries of both John Lennon and George Harrison and includes special pieces by noted Beatles authors Phillip Norman and Allan Kozin.
Forever Fab: Original News Coverage From The New York Times sells for around $25.

Beatles for Sale: How Everything They Touched Turned to Gold (Paperback) by John Blaney (Author)
Beatles for Sale is a brand new way of looking at a story you may think you know inside out. Author John Blaney shows for the first time how the group and their inner circle invented so much of what we now recognize as the modern business of making and selling rock music. This was certainly not because Lennon, McCartney, Epstein, and the rest had a clear vision of the way things ought to be. Very often it was simply down to making things up as they went along - because no one had been there before and no one knew how to do these things. The book details the ups and downs of the group as they promoted, advertised, and sold records, played concerts, sold merchandise, made films, and set up publishing and record companies of their own. It is a story of naivety and greed, inexperience and luck, gullibility and ingenuity. It is the story of every aspect of how the Beatles made money - and how virtually every group since then has followed in their footsteps.
The Beatles on Television (Rex Collections) (Hardcover) by Ray Tedman (Author)
The whole of the Beatles' amazing TV career is covered here, from their earliest appearances on Thank Your Lucky Stars! and Ready Steady Go! up to their live performance of "All You Need Is Love" in front of the biggest ever audience in television history—and beyond. The book is a telling record of the way in which the Fab Four swept away the media attitudes of an earlier era and replaced them with their own brand of humor, as well as their own brand of seriousness. It will be a must-have addition to the library of all Beatles enthusiasts.
William F. Ludwig II passed away yesterday at the age of 91. Anybody who has ever seen the Beatles perform will immediately know that name. William F. Ludwig II was the founder of the Ludwig Drum Company.
<-- Ringo and William F. Ludwig II in 1964
It was a Ludwig drum kit that was placed on the stage for Ringo to play on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964. So taken was Ringo with the Ludwig drums that after the show he asked Mr. Ludwig to make a custom set for him. Needless to say, after this, with the Ludwig name prominently displayed at every Beatles show, Ludwig drum sales went through the roof.
