FOREIGNER RETURNS REVITALIZED IN 2005 WITH NEW MEMBERS AND A MAJOR SUMMER TOUR:
Press Release / If you turn a radio on right now and start flipping through stations, chances are you will hear one of the countless classics by Foreigner.
The band, best known for all-time rock favorites including "Feels Like the First Time," "Cold as Ice," "Hot Blooded," "Double Vision," "Head Games," "Urgent," "Waiting For a Girl Like You," "I Want to Know What Love Is" and a truckload more of hits over nearly three decades, returns revitalized in 2005 with new members and a major summer tour.
Foreigner founder/songwriter/lead guitarist/keyboardist/producer Mick Jones has assembled an exciting lineup featuring Jason Bonham on drums, bass guitarist Jeff Pilson (ex-Dokken, ex-Dio) and vocalist Kelly Hansen (ex-Hurricane) joining forces with longtime keyboardist Jeff Jacobs and rhythm guitarist/saxophonist Tom Gimbel. Jones set Foreigner aside in 2003 after completing a series of special performances with symphony orchestras in Europe.
"After that, I decided to concentrate on spending time with my family, especially my children," Jones says. "It was good to take a step back and assess the situation, but I really missed playing live on stage."
The band is something I'm very proud of, and obviously I'm very attached to it," Jones says. "There's a certain uniqueness to Foreigner."
Jones, who has also written award-winning songs for movies and has production credits on such blockbusters as Van Halen's 5150 and Billy Joel's Storm Front, was certain he wanted to carry on the Foreigner name and tradition. Foreigner has sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide, but it was Jason Bonham's excitement that helped seal Jones' decision to hit the road with his band.
"I've known Jason since he was about 18 and he got in touch with me through our mutual friend Phil Carson, who I knew when he was an executive at Atlantic Records, Foreigner's original label," says Jones.
"Jason is a huge fan of Foreigner and he said he would love to join the band if I reformed it. He prompted me to bring back Foreigner with some fresh blood to recognize and expand upon the body of work the band had done. I spoke with Jeff Jacobs and Tom Gimbel and they were enthusiastic about it too. Jason still calls me about once a week with a suggestion about an old song we should play or with an idea for a new song! His energy is very inspirational."
Jeff Pilson, who had appeared alongside Jason Bonham in the Warner movie 'Rockstar,' soon came on board, and Hansen was the final piece of the puzzle. He joined Foreigner earlier this year.
"I didn't make a big fuss about looking for a singer, but word got around the industry and soon I started receiving demos," Jones says. "Tom Gimbel had actually heard about Kelly Hansen. Kelly sent me a demo with his voice on a few of the classic tracks, and the songs immediately took on a new life. He sang incredibly well, and made the decision easy."
Any band with a lot of hits finds it a challenge to put together a set list, and Foreigner's run of smashes makes it even trickier for Jones and his cohorts. He said all the beloved songs will be performed in concert, and die-hard fans will often be treated to long-absent favorites like "At War With the World," "Say You Will" and "Woman in Black." Also, Foreigner will pay tribute to Bonham's father, the late John Bonham, by performing "Whole Lotta Love" and possibly more Led Zeppelin highlights.
Jones feels this summer tour with the new lineup will get the creative juices flowing and likely lead to some collaborative songwriting while on the road. At the end of the year, a special concert loaded with special guests is planned for public-television broadcast and DVD release. Then, after this warm-up, Foreigner will ultimately move forward and record an album of fresh songs for release in 2006.
"We're starting with a clean slate. I feel like fresh ideas are coming back," Jones says. "It's a new beginning."

MICK JONES SAYS NEW FOREIGNER ROCKS HARDER THAN EVER

Foreigner founder Mick Jones is very happy with the new version of the band that he's leading around North America these days. After a rancorous parting with singer Lou Gramm, Jones recruited former Heaven & Earth singer Kelly Hansen, along with drummer Jason Bonham, son of late Led Zeppelin skin-pounder John Bonham, and former Dokken bassist Jeff Pilson. Jones told us the new lineup rocks harder than ever: "To tell you in a nutshell, I've never been as excited -- I mean, right back to the very beginning -- I'd say. The freshness. The drive. The power of the stage show. The whole nine yards, you know, is just notched up big-time, you know. And this band rocked, and now it rocks even harder."

Foreigner's roster also includes longtime members Jeff Jacobs on keyboards and Thom Gimbel on guitar and saxophone.

Jones said the new Foreigner is working on song ideas and hopes to get into the recording studio before the end of the year.

В общем, первых четыре альбома для меня чуть ли не шедевры, учитывая то что кое кто играл в самом ацтойном проекте всех времён и народов(КС) и потом сделать такие прекрассные диски!!!
Кстати тем кому нравятся Форинер рекомендую найти группы Gamma, Orion, Axe а так же Kansas альбомы 82-88 гг.
От форинер неотличимы

Так уж и в самом? А мне кажется, что истинные любители арт-рока должны считать то, что арт-рокер присоединился к такой группе, как Форинер, ошибочным шагом.

Скорее всего,уход Гремма был связан вовсе не с его желанием работать сольно,как было объявлено,а с договоренностью с Миком Джонсом. Это горько признавать,но у группы и так уже нет будущего,а с таким некачественным вокалом его нет вдвойне. Кстати,говоря о видео Foreigner-лучше всего группа звучит на видео Live At Deer Greek. Это концерт 1993 года-вот что советую приобрести! Там и еще пока пышущий здоровьем Гремм во всей красе,и подбор песен отличный (правда,только старые хиты) и звук что надо!

А всё-таки Magnum лучше!

У меня есть только альбом "Head Games" 1979 года - несколько песен вполне ничего: изобретательные риффы, мелодизм, неожиданные аранжировки, современное звучание - из таких альбомов вырос поп-рок 80-х. А что у "Форинер" считается лучшей работой вообще?

В этом вопросе люди, как правило, делятся на три категории. Одни полагают, что самый лучший альбом - "4". Другие считают, что, начиная именно с этой пластинки, Foreigner стали играть менее интересный материал. И, наконец, третьи считают, что "золотым периодом" группы были первые четыре альбома. Но на чём действительно сходятся многие, так это на том, что после альбома "4" этот период уж точно закончился. Лично я так не думаю, но, безусловно, первые альбомы "интернациональной бригады" особенные, если, в частности, учесть, что в 80-е так и вправду многие играли, а во второй половине 70-х - ещё нет.

А ты для себя какой альбом выделяешь?

А я считаю Mr.Moonlight 1994 года если и не лучшей работой,то уж точно одной из 3-х лучших у них. Там есть просто обалденные песни.

Какой-нибудь один, пожалуй, не выделю - в принципе, они одинаково интересные. Первым услышанным их альбомом был самый первый, и он тогда меня удивил уже не раз упомянутым здесь более современным звучанием, между тем как вышел в 77-м, а записывался ещё в 76-м. Потом был второй - "Double Vision", который из-за одной только "Cold As Ice", имхо, надо слушать от начала до конца. Но, повторю, какие-то притягательные моменты можно обнаружить на каждом диске, но то, что наибольшее число таких моментов сконцентрировалось на первых четырёх дисках - тут я с большинством солидарен.

сегодня посмотрел видео Live At Deer Greek'1992. какой же замечательный концерт. Лу Грэмм еще бодр и здоров. да и фронтмен он великолепный, чего уж тут говорить...харизма и голосина то что надо! а песни...с одной стороны мелодичные, с другой - с "хуком" в риффах....
даже достал с полки один из первых приобритенных мною в далеком 93 году CD - The Very Best Of Foreigner болгарского производства:)

In 2007 Foreigner are celebrating their 30th anniversary and are playing more shows in more countries than ever before. The band has sold over 70 million records worldwide. Only Led Zeppelin has sold more albums for the Atlantic Records label. This DVD was filmed at the Bang Your Head Festival at Balingen in Germany in June 2006 and captures the band rocking harder than ever before on a set list of their biggest hits including “Cold As Ice”, “Urgent”, “Juke Box Hero”, “Double Vision” and more.

меня мучает вопрос - в конце 80-х Мелодия выпускала сборник, что-то вроде "металлический хит-парад". Песни на нем представлял Валерий Гаина. Была там одна вещь Форинер, которую перевели как "Зубы на полку" (!) :))) Что это за вещь? Какие предположения?
