The debut album by Doors drummer John Densmore's new band, Tribaljazz, is due out in June. Densmore is producing the group's self-titled disc http://www.thedoors.com/band/john/?fa=life, which will feature two reworked versions of the Doors' "Riders on the Storm," including one that contains samples of Jim Morrison's vocals. Doors fans who want to feel closer to the band's late frontman, Jim Morrison, now can stay at the Los Angeles-area apartment where he lived several months before his 1971 death. For $200 per night or $1,000 a week, people can experience what Morrison's life there was like, while enjoying Doors-related memorabilia and vintage appliances. Tabloid Show Claims JIM MORRISON Is Alive - May 21, 2005

Launch Radio Networks reports: No, it's not another rerun of the 1983 film "Eddie & the Cruisers" — there's a new report that says late DOORS frontman Jim Morrison is alive. Last night's (Friday, May 20) episode of the tabloid TV show "A Current Affair" had a story that Morrison is alive and well, and living in the Pacific Northwest. The show aired footage shot by a "cowboy filmmaker" named Gerald Pitts, who said, "In 1998, Jim Morrison had showed up at our rodeos, here in southern Oregon, and we discovered him living on a ranch, raising show-quality Arabian horses and paint horses. And I shot some footage of my friend...(and) Jim got in the motion picture film. One thing led to another."

Also featured on the show is Cherri Woods, who owns the building in Hollywood where Morrison lived before he moved to Paris. Woods, who gives tours of and rents out the property, also sells the Pitts film. She claims to have spoken to Morrison, and she told the show, "I was given Jim's telephone number and address and the alias that the FBI gave him that he's been living under. I have all of the information. Pages and pages of notes, of information I have verified that has shown me that (the video) in fact is Jim Morrison."

There's more "evidence" to the story, but you'll have to watch "A Current Affair" to see it. The show is syndicated, so check your local listings for the time and channel in your area.

It should be noted that there's been no comment from Morrison's bandmates on the story. Previously, keyboardist Ray Manzarek told Launch that he was sick and tired of all the sensationalizing, which comes at the expense of Morrison's true legacy: "Certainly we wouldn't want to — we wouldn't want to talk about the art of Jim Morrison or the poetry of Jim Morrison, would we?"

PERRY FARRELL To Record With THE DOORS? - May 30, 2005

According to the Perry Farrell fan pageAintNoRight.com, the surviving members of THE DOORS have approached ex–JANE'S ADDICTION singer Perry Farrell to record an album with them. This August Farrell will perform with THE DOORS at the VH1 taping of "Decades".

Recent rumors indicated that Farrell was producing an unreleased Jim Morrison track titled "Woman in the Window", which he planned to feature on the upcoming album from his new project, SATELLITE PARTY.

Farrell was spotted playing a live acoustic set opening for SUICIDAL TENDENCIES at the premiere after-party of the new movie "Lords of Dogtown". Two of the surviving members of THE DOORS, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger, will be appearing in their new incarnation as THE DOORS OF THE 21ST CENTURY this summer at the travelling Strange Days Festival. The festival will also feature VANILLA FUDGE, YARDBIRDS, STEPPENWOLF and PAT TRAVERS.

The Doors of the 21st Century head up 'Strange Days' fest

The Doors of the 21st Century featuring surviving Doors members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger with singer Ian Astbury--will lead this summer's "Strange Days Festival," an outing that will also feature John Kay & Steppenwolf, Vanilla Fudge, Pat Travers and The Yardbirds.

The run is set to launch in early June, and dates so far stretch into early August; Kay & Steppenwolf are only on board for the June shows.
The Doors of the 21st Century also have a handful of non-"Strange Days Festival" stops set in July and August. Details are included below.

Manzarek (keys), Krieger (guitar) and original Doors drummer John Densmore first teamed with The Cult's Astbury in 2000 for an episode of VH1's "Storytellers"; Astbury was one of several vocalists--including Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots, Velvet Revolver) and Scott Stapp (Creed)--who filled in for late Doors frontman Jim Morrison during the event.

In 2002, Manzarek and Krieger recruited Astbury to tour with them full time; Densmore declined to participate in the reunion, and sued his former bandmates to block them from using the name The Doors; the action led the group--which now features drummer Ty Dennis and bassist Angelo Barbera--to adopt the more awkward moniker The Doors of the 21st Century.

Earlier this month, the group headed into the studio with producer Ken Scott to begin work on a new album. No release date has been announced.

Former Doors drummer wins suit against bandmates By Dean Goodman

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The former drummer for The Doors won a permanent injunction on Friday preventing his bandmates from using the rock group's name while touring with a revamped version of the legendary 1960s act.

The Los Angeles Superior Court order also requires keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger, who have been touring as The Doors of the 21st Century, to turn over all the profits earned by the new combo to the original Doors partnership.

The decision represents a major victory for Doors drummer John Densmore, who told Reuters he was concerned that the band's legacy was being tarnished by its reincarnation as an oldies act.

Manzarek and Krieger, along with British singer Ian Astbury subbing for the late Jim Morrison, are touring Canada as headliners of the "Strange Days" festival, which also features such bands as Steppenwolf, the Yardbirds and Vanilla Fudge.

"They're playing Doors songs and calling themselves the Doors of the 21st Century. I kinda think it's the 19th century, it's looking back," said Densmore, who plays original music with his own band Tribal Jazz.

He teamed up with Morrison's estate -- represented by the parents of both Morrison and Morrison's late wife, Pamela Courson -- to sue Krieger and Manzarek in early 2003.

Under an agreement struck in 1971, the year Morrison died in Paris, all three surviving members as well as the Morrison estate must sign off on any use of the Doors name and logo.

"I'm very pleased that, in my opinion, the legacy is preserved," added Densmore. "I never intended for Ray and Robby to stop playing -- they're great musicians. I hope Doors fans keep going to see them -- it's just the name is owned by me and them and the estate of Jim Morrison, and they kinda ran off with stolen property."

Densmore estimated that Manzarek and Krieger have earned "millions and millions of dollars" on the road in recent years, more than the original band ever made.

A management representative for Krieger and Manzarek in Los Angeles did not return a call.

The Doors rose to fame in the late 1960s with such songs as "Light My Fire" and "Touch Me." After Morrison, their provocative frontman and self-styled "lizard king," died of a heart attack, the band eventually folded.

Its mythology exploded with the 1980 publication of the Doors biography "No One Here Gets Out Alive" and then with Oliver Stone's 1991 movie "The Doors." The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, with the three members reuniting for a few songs behind Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder.
