Iron Maiden to Release New DVD "Death on the Road"

Iron Maiden has confirmed the release date of their much- anticipated DVD release Death On The Road for February 21, 2006 through Sanctuary Records. This will initially be available as a limited edition special digipack.

The DVD package contains the full performance of their ‘Dance of Death Tour’ in December 2003. Filmed at the Westenfalenhalle Arena in Dortmund the show has been personally edited by founding band member Steve Harris to fully capture the magnificent stage production and to cut to the heart and the electricity of the band’s performance. Over a four month period Steve made thousands of edits thus ensuring he was personally happy with every single shot included.

"We realize that the fans have been made to wait a little longer than planned for the DVD to come out but as they know, we won't settle for anything but the best and the extra time and effort spent in the final production of this DVD should be apparent. I can safely say that when people see songs like 'Paschendale' and 'Dance Of Death' their jaws will hit the floor as mine did when I saw the final product on my T.V. at home. With visuals like this and the show played in 5.1 on a decent system it's just like being in the front rows of the show, ” Harris said.

To ensure top quality and to avoid any compromise in reproducing the very best possible sound and picture quality, the band has taken the unprecedented step of making the full concert available on three separate discs including full traditional stereo soundtrack and specially- mixed 5.1 sound by Kevin "Caveman" Shirley which, along with a special features disc, making the package three discs in all.

"I felt it was important that this was done as we didn't want to be restricted. By having two separate discs I was happy in knowing that neither picture nor sound quality would be compromised in any way. We are aware that many fans don't yet have access to 5.1 sound and still use stereo but if you put both sound beds on one disc with the concert a fair amount of visual quality can be lost due to the massive amount of information that needs storing. As this was quite a dark and theatrical show we refused to allow this to happen! However, so our fans aren't paying extra for a disc they may never use, we have arranged with Sanctuary that the pricing will be the same as ‘Rock in Rio’ which was a two- disc package. This way, every one gets the highest-quality show with a sound that is fully compatible with their system at no extra cost, ” said Harris.

The special- features disc contains an exclusive documentary directed by Matthew Amos who also directed the band’s award- winning ‘Early Days’ documentary. It's an insight into the production of the ‘Dance of Death’ album from its writing and recording to the detail in what it takes to get a massive show like Maiden on the road.

"The documentary is something quite special for the fans as it really is a very revealing portrait of how Maiden work together during recording, and it took me weeks to persuade them to let the cameras into the recording studio. Previously they'd never allowed any of this to be filmed but this time we decided to have a camera floating around to try and capture the Maiden recording process. A lot of it was filmed by Kevin Shirley and the band themselves, ” Rod Smallwood, Iron Maiden’s manager, said. “I think it's a great representation of the talent, effort and humor of a Maiden recording session. The documentary also shows what it takes to set up a major world tour and has various interviews with our Killer Krew and hopefully it will be as insightful and interesting as the well received ‘Early Days’ documentary footage which Matthew also directed.”

“As usual we have crammed as much as possible into the DVD with a host of extras including all of the promo videos from the album, background interviews with members of the production crew and fans during the tour, artwork, design sketches and photo galleries. Many hours of Maiden mayhem with a total running time of over three hours – and that's just the special features, ” Smallwood adds.

The band is now taking a well-deserved break following their hugely successful touring schedule this past year, having headlined virtually every major festival in Europe including Reading and Leeds in the U.K., as well as taking the USA by storm on last year's Ozzfest bill. Preparations for the next studio album (their 14th) will begin in February with recording commencing in the Spring of 2006.

Blind Faith's debut gig will be released on DVD

Blind Faith's debut gig was in front of a cool 100, 000 people on a warm day in Hyde Park. Since 7th June, 1969 when this concert took place, it has never been seen in its entirety. This is a unique opportunity to see the world's first Supergroup perform for the very first time. Sanctuary Visual Entertainment will release "Hyde park 1969" the DVD on 10th April 2006.

The audience gathered in London's central Hyde Park, were filled with anticipation awaiting Blind Faith's debut. The newly formed collective of four virtuoso musicians who individually were already rock royalty, were the talk of the town and expectations both within the band and out amongst the counter-culture generation crowd, were high. Fusing the psychedelic blues of Eric Clapton and the soulful vocals and keyboards of Steve Winwood, with Rick Grech on Bass and the phenomenal Ginger Baker on drums, they didn't disappoint. The set may have lasted just over 40 minutes long, but fans were treated to a selection of timeless tracks including Presence Of The Lord, Sleeping In The Ground and The Stones classic Under My Thumb.

The DVD "Hyde Park 1969" also boasts archive footage of the various members of Blind Faith performing within their earlier musical guises. Clips of the Spencer Davies Group performing I'm A Man, Traffic's Hole In My Shoe, Family performing Dim and Cream with Sunshine of Your Love, act as a gentle introduction to the main concert event. There is also a discography for all the members of Blind Faith pre 1969, plus a collection of rare photos set to the sounds of Well All Right.

By the end of the 60s with hippies still dancing on the horizon and a man on the moon a new form was taking shape on this musical stage. The Supergroup: a band of highly talented individuals creating a new musical experience. The very first of these was Blind Faith consisting of Steve Winwood, the original blue eyed soul boy who came from a musically supportive family and shot to prominence shortly after he joined the Spencer Davis Group in 1963 aged 15. The band had numerous chart toppers including Keep On Running and I'm A Man. He went on to forge a wider musical path absorbing influences including psychedelia, British folk and jazz that enhanced his R n'B sensibilities. He did this with Chris Wood, Dave Mason and of course Jim Capaldi who fused together to create Traffic, a successful collaboration that spawned hits like Paper Sun and Hole In My Shoe.

Eric Clapton was the superstar of Blind Faith. He originally became obsessed with the Blues as a teenager and joined the Yardbirds in 1963. As they went more commercial with hit single For Your Love Eric left to join John Mayall's Bluesbreakers as the unchallenged master of white rock blues guitar. Eric Clapton is God was a well documented graffiti of the time as his stature further grew with Cream. This power trio of Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce were each heralded as fully blown rock stars enjoying major international commercial success with hit singles and sell out concerts for their loud, blues inspired inventive music that featured extended solos and improvisation.

Blind Faith's Ginger Baker also came from the critically acclaimed Cream. After gigging with jazz ensembles, his wild rhythmic style moved on to R&B outfits led by Alexis Korner and then Graham Bond. His ferocious unconventional playing, that had got him the sack in some of his early bands, developed into a creative force that was admired by numerous other recognized rock and jazz drummers and it has often been said that he was the greatest drummer in the world.

The final member of Blind Faith was bassist Rick Grech who joined the Farinas that eventually evolved into Family a progressive, arty folk rock band from Leicester. Rick did not come from the same rock royalty as the other members of Blind Faith but had been admired for some time by Eric Clapton and provided the essential solid support the band needed.

Music Video Distributors has announced the home viewing release of BERNIE TORME's (OZZY OSBOURNE, GILLAN, Dee Snider's DESPERADO) "Stratocaster Gypsy" DVD titles for U.S. distribution on DVD. The disc will be released on April 15, 2006 (prebook cutoff March 21) and will boast a $19.95 retail price.

"Stratocaster Gypsy" is a historically important document as it contains some of the only known live performance and interview footage of BERNIE TORME. While in some cases the footage was shot over 20 years ago, some for Bernie's own personal archives, and may suffer from poor quality in the original audio and video source material, the recordings have been released into the public arena under the careful eye of Bernie himself who has overseen both the track selection and mastering of the sound. Bonus materials include Bonus Clips, Biography, Memorabilia, and Photo Gallery.

DVD Disc 1 is a live performance extravaganza boasting 30 show-stopping tracks, recorded during the '90s as Bruce forged ahead with his solo career. "Dive Dive Live" was recorded at the Town and Country Club, Los Angeles on the "Tattooed Millionaire" tour on August 14, 1990. This was Bruce's first outing as a solo artist with a new band made up of Janick Gers (guitar), Andy Carr (bass) and Dickie Fliszar (drums).

The second live-in-concert performance offered up on Disc 1 was filmed over two sweaty back-to-back dates during the "Skunkworks" tour in Pamplona and Gerona, Spain on May 31 and June 1, 1996. Bruce was fronting a new young band, with a new name, and was joined on stage by Alex Dickson (guitar), Chris Dale (bass) and a certain infamous Italian drummer, Alessandro Elena. Originally created for a four-track video EP release in Japan, this is the hour-long "Skunkworks" concert in full, for the very first time.

DVD Disc 2 keeps the live-in-concert experience alive with rare footage of Bruce performing in Sao Paulo, 1999 during the "Chemical Wedding" world tour. Almost two hours in length, "Scream For Me Brazil" represents Bruce's last outing as a true solo artist before rejoining the ranks of MAIDEN shortly afterwards. No official film recording was permitted although this film taken from the crowd screen feeds features highlights of the show which later become a live album of the same name. With a new heavier lineup made up of long time songwriting partner Roy Z (guitar), old MAIDEN partner Adrian Smith and rhythm section of Dave Ingraham (drums) and Eddie Casillas (bass), this "bootleg" documents Bruce at his most intense.

DVD Disc 3 is an extensive collection of promotional videos made during Bruce's solo career. From his days at EMI through to his own self-produced videos of recent times, each video is accompanied by a short introduction by Bruce himself, discussing the ideas, concepts and eventual filming behind each of the videos. Each intro provides an interesting insight into Bruce's solo career as it progressed and the highlights and pitfalls of producing your own promotional videos.

Alongside the 14 promotional videos, Disc 3 also includes over an hour's worth of extras. The "Tyranny Of Souls" interview was originally filmed as a general interview for press purposes. This is a track-by-track breakdown of the concept behind the songs on the "Tyranny Of Souls" album, providing more of an in-depth look at the writing methods that Bruce has formed with longtime writing partner Roy Z.

SAMSON – "Biceps Of Steel": Bruce made his video debut fronting SAMSON in this rather curious adaptation of the story of Samson and Delilah, filmed at the Rainbow Theatre, London. Filmed and directed by Julien Temple who perhaps was more famous for the SEX PISTOLS movie "The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle", this 15-minute featurette was distributed through-out cinemas as a support feature to Hazel O' Connor's "Breaking Glass" in 1980.

In the August of 1991 in the U.S.S.R, the young challenged the old.
Those who questioned authority triumphed.

AC/DC, Metallica, The Black Crowes, Pantera and E.S.T. made metal history when they performed at the very first open-air rock festival to be held in the former Soviet Union. Captured on film, For Those About To Rock... We Salute You: Monsters in Moscow presents a concert feature signalling the arrival of a new political order, demanded by the people and heralded in by the sounds of some of the biggest names in rock music. Warner Home Video will debut the title on DVD 5th June.

In September 1991, only a few days after an attempted military coup failed to restore Communism to the newly democratic Russia and its affiliated nations, 500,000 rock music fans converged in Moscow to enjoy the very first open-air rock concert.

The evening kicked off with Pantera taking to the stage. Phil Anselmo did his very best to get the crowd going, but it seemed that the fans required little encouragement and obviously years of living in rock denial sent some into overdrive. Russian band E.S.T was next up, but the evening really took shape with the arrival of The Black Crowes.

A phenomenal performance from Metal Gods Metallica is another high-point of this concert. Old school classics Enter Sandman, Creeping Death and Fade To Black deliver an eardrum battering and by the time the legendary AC/DC take centre stage, the evening has already cemented its place in rock history.

“For Those About To Rock…We Salute You: Monsters in Moscow” also offers a look at the efforts of the Russian Army to try and postpone the concert.

Aerosmith & Motley Cure Team Join Forces For a Tour

Rock-and-roll heavyweights Aerosmith and Motley Crue have announced plans to join forces for a massive fall tour that will touch down at amphitheaters throughout the US. Dubbed the "Route of All Evil Tour, " the trek gets underway with a cluster of mid-to-late-September shows scattered throughout the Northeast, and about two-dozen concerts are confirmed through late November.

Aerosmith fans who score seats some distance from the stage may find themselves closer to the band than expected, as the Boston-based rock vets plan to hit a stage outfitted with a ramp that will stretch 70 feet into the audience, according to a press release.

The upcoming tour marks Aerosmith's return to the stage after earlier this year canceling the last nine dates of a late-winter jaunt so that frontman Steven Tyler could undergo surgery to fix a vocal ailment. The band is currently working on its follow-up to 2004's "Honkin' on Bobo, " an all-blues album. The group's most recent rock set is 2001's "Just Push Play."

Motley Crue reunited in early 2005 to mount what turned out to be one of the most successful arena tours of the year. The run supported "Red, White & Crue, " a best-of set that also featured several new cuts. The group is in the early stages of recording a new studio collection with producer Bob Rock, who helmed the band's massively successful 1989 disc, "Dr. Feelgood."

Новый альбом Iron Maiden будет поддержан мировым туром, который стартует в конце 2006-го. Попавшие на днях в продажу билеты на первые концерты этого тура уже раскуплены на корню.

Black Label Society is the brain child of guitar great Zakk Wylde. Hard and heavy, big on riffs and even bigger on the solos, BLS is the bastard child of Black Sabbath only pumped up on steroids. Having graced the world's stages for the last 18 years, both as Ozzy Osborne's right hand man as well as fronting BLS, Zakk Wylde has established himself as one of the few remaining guitar heros.

European Invasion captures BLS live on their sold out European tour last year - one of the most anticipated tours of the year and they didn't disappoint.

Judas Priest записывают, первый в их истории, концептуальный альбом. Тематика будет посвящена Настрадамусу и его предсказаниям. Я примерно понимаю, что они задумали, но всё равно не могу точно представить, как это будет выглядеть.
Всегда любил Джудас Прист, за их эволюционность и нежеланию возвращаться к прошлому. Записав однажды, успешный альбом они никогда не возвращались к "нащупанному" звуку а шли дальше. Ни "Turbo" ни "Point Of Entry", я никогда не ставил под сомнение, люблю оба этих альбома. Если кто мерит качество децибелами и архаичностью звучания, пусть мерит и дальше. А я люблю эксперименты, и качество музыки на прямую не связываю с её громкостью.
Хотя в последнем "Angel Of Retribution" они сделали некую ретроспективу своего творчества, но сделали это многолико, что называется - от и до.
Думаю, что это будет замечательная пластинка. Хотелось бы, что б и продюсера сменили, Рой Зи не их продюсер..
