Ozzy Obourne and MOTLEY CRUE's Nikki Sixx engage in a revolting clash of the titans while touring together in the early '80s. The battle begins with Ozzy snorting a line of live ants and ends with him drinking Nikki's urine.

6) JUDAS PRIEST/ROB HALFORD; Rob Halford Comes Out
Much to the surprise of mulleted Judas Priest fans everywhere, frontman rob halford comes out of the closet.

Metal parody "Spinal Tap" is released, adding such things as amps that go to 11 and undersized models of stonehenge to metal lore.

Motley Crue release 'The Dirt,' metal's first true tell-all biography, depicting in graphic detail the band's relentless quest for pleasures of the flesh.

3) DIO: Dio's Devil Horns
One-time BLACK SABBATH frontman and solo artist Ronnie James Dio gives birth to heavy metal sign language when he popularizes the now-ubiquitous metal devil horns sign.

2) BLACK SABBATH
The fingerless man of Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi gets two fingertips cut off in an industrial accident, but still goes on to invent the sound of heavy metal guitar with Black Sabbath, thanks to a few prosthetic digits.

1) HEAR N' AID
The biggest names in metal, from Judas Priest to Motley Crue, come together in a charity recording and video for starving people in Africa. It's rumored that pop charity types don't approve, but the song and video for 'We're Stars' stands as a stirring tribute to all things metal.

press release reports: The Motorhead legend roars on in 2004 with the release of the new studio album 'Inferno' on June 22.

Guitar legend Steve Vai makes a guest appearance on two tracks.

'Inferno' is an appropriate titl for Motorhead's latest skull-grinding, internal-organ-liquefying album. The 12 tracks are: "Terminal Show," "Killers," "In the Name of Tragedy," "Suicide," "Life's a Bitch," "Down on Me," "In the Black," "Fight," "In the Year of the Wolf," "Keys to the Kingdom," "Smiling Like a Killer" and "Whorehouse Blues."

"Music is very personal. It's just like sex in that way," says Lemmy.

Трагически закончился рок-концерт в ночном клубе Alrosa Villa американского города Колумбус (шт. Огайо). Шоу, состоявшееся сегодня ночью, открывала группа под названием Damageplan, которую создал гитарист легендарного коллектива Pantera Даймбег Даррелл. Когда музыканты исполняли первую песню, на сцену поднялся мужчина и начал стрелять в толпу зрителей.
Публика сначала не восприняла случившееся серьезно, решив, что это часть программы. Однако когда шокированные музыканты перестали играть, возникла паника и посетители переполненного клуба бросились к выходу. Тем не менее преступнику удалось убить пятерых и ранить двух человек. В числе жертв оказался и Даррелл. Охранник клуба застрелил преступника.
Убийца 25 лет дождался начала 1 песни, слева пробрался к сцене, затем пересёк её и в упор застрелил Дайма. Брат гитариста барабанщик Винни Пол тоже получил ранения и долгое время находился в шоке от произшедшего, но пока сведений о его смерти не поступало, а вот вокалист Damageplan и экс гитарист группы Роба Хэлфорда (Halford) Пэт Лахман по последним новостям скончался от ранений в госпитале.
Убийца по словам очевидцев кричал что-то вроде -Ты развалил Pantera! Именно это послужило видимо причиной для сумасшедщего ублюдка, причём ровно в один день спустя 24 года после убийства Джона Леннона.

Сидели вчера в узком кружке форумчан и перебирали в памяти разные виденные концерты, среди которых был упомянут "Железный Вудсток" в 89-м в Москве. Выступала там такая группа Cinderella. Единогласно было решено, что группа была очень даже ничего, стояла на крепком блюзовом фундаменте, несмотря на хард-глэмовую внешность модную в те времена. ИМХО, "Золушка" – одна из самых недооцененных команд той формации возможно потому, что выпустили всего 4 альбома, или просто попали в вихрь переменчивой рок-моды?

Одновременно выпущен DVD с видеоклипами 10 хитов, документальным фильмом о создании альбома Heartbreak Station и отрывками из домашнего видео "Tales From The Gypsy Road" с новыми комментариями Тома Кифера (или Кайфера?) и Эрика Бриттингема.
По сообщениям прессы Том нынче трудится над сольной пластинкой с продюсером Майклом Вэгенером (Skid Row, Warrant, Accept, Hammerfall). Летом Cinderella будет хэдлайнером тура Rock Never Stops, в который они отправятся с Ratt, Quiet Riot и Firehouse.

Есть и в Iron Maiden битловский след. Он не глобальный но очевидный. По воспоминаниям Нико Бакбейна интерес к року у него проснулся через несколько групп, среди которых были упомянуты и The Beatles.
С Брюсом Дикинсоном и того круче, он играл в какой то группе (не помню на чём) и произошла курьёзная история. Певец не вытгивал "Let It Be", тогда попросили попробовать её спеть Брюса Дикинсона. У него и полуцчилось, вот с тех самых пор он всё поёт и поёт .. ;)

На сколько мне известно, The Beatles очень повлияли на трех китов хард рока : Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple и Black Sabbath. В каждой из этих групп есть большие их поклонники. Даже те, кто не является большими поклонникамиЮ всё равно в разной степени были подвержены их влиянию. Как ни странно, но и Джудас Прист тоже от Битлз души не чают. В разные времена они признавались в этом. Гитарист Judas Priest Гленн Типтон назвал Битлз своей любимой группой. Примечательно, что несколько альбомов Присты записали в студии Ринго Старра, которая находилась в его доме. В том самом доме, котором когда то жил Джон Леннон. Все прекрасно знают этот дом, по фильму Джона Леннона "Imagine".
Присты рассказывали о том, как они куролесили и оттягивались в этом доме. При этом не скравали гордости, за то что они были в этом доме и прикоснулись к этой атмосфере, в которой когда то творил Джон Леннон.

Сам Стив Харис в каком то интервью обмолвился, что хорошо бы было поехать в совместный тур Iron Maiden и Judas Priest. Оно то конечно да, но кто же будет перед кем разогревать ? ;-)

Смотрю, тут собралось огромное количество знатоков!:) И каждый прав по-своему. В моей жизни тяжёлая музыка в целом сыграла немалую роль, и я никогда особенно не напрягал себя, чтобы разделять любимые группы по стилям и направлениям. Для меня главное в музыке, чтобы она была сделана талантливо, с душой и со смыслом!:)

The show was filmed at the Westfalenhalle Arena, Dortmund, Germany during the Dance of Death European Tour in December 2003 and fully captures the magnificent stage production and electricity of the band's performance. Steve Harris once again took four months personally supervising the editing of the footage and, like 'Rock In Rio', this means thousands of cuts right into the heart of the action!

VH1 - 'Heavy: The Story Of Metal'

Metal is rock's untamed wild child. Metal is rude, crude, irreverent and irrepressibly loud. Metal is rock and roll just as it's supposed to be, which is why everyone from Black Sabbath to Iron Maiden to Motley Crue to Slayer to Slipknot, have been hated by critics, feared by parents, attacked by politicians, and blamed for most of the world's ills. So how did a combination of the devil and decibels become such an irresistible lure to generations of metal fans around the world?

What Ken Burns did for jazz, VH1 does for heavy metal -- only a lot louder. "Heavy: The Story of Metal, " premiering Monday -- Thursday, May 1-4 each night traces the evolution of heavy metal music and culture, from its dark, grim beginnings in Birmingham, England to the worldwide force that it remains to this day.

In a series of four themed hours, "Heavy: The Story of Metal, " explores four decades of music, each hour examining this powerful and often misunderstood genre, from metal's pioneers to its love of glam and excess; from the fight for metal's rebellious soul to its storied flirtation with the devil:

Episode One traces metal's roots in the late-60's in the bombed-out industrial town of Birmingham England to the spectacular rise of Kiss and "glam metal" in the early 70's.

Episode Two examines metal's growing pains during the 70's when both high-brow rock critics and punk rock threatened its very existence. By decade's end, bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Def Leppard gave birth to what became known as "The New Wave of British Heavy Metal."

Zakk Wylde's Induction into Hollywood's RockWalk

Guitar virtuoso Zakk Wylde has played a significant role for Ozzy Osbourne, who handpicked Wylde in 1987 at the age of 19 to be his new axe slinger. In addition to his responsibilities as Ozzy's main axe slinger, Wylde was responsible for co-writing many of Ozzy's best-selling multi-platinum albums including, the albums No Rest for the Wicked, No More Tears, and Ozzmosis. Wylde started his solo career in 1994. In 1998, Wylde formed his own band, Black Label Society, while still maintaining his role as Osbourne's lead guitarist. To date, Black Label Society has released six albums and has sold in excess of one million units worldwide. Wylde's musical mastery has spawned numerous instrument product endorsements. His signature products include four custom Gibson guitars, a custom Epiphone guitar, a limited run Marshall amplifier, EMG Picks-Ups, GHS Strings and Dunlop Pedals.
