Купил "Семейные драгоценности". Посмотрел пока только одну вещь и сразу понял, что купил не напрасно. Молодые и дикие Диси делают шоу из ванморрисоновской Baby Please Don't Go. Бон Скотт в парике с косичками, накрашеный, в сарафане, пьяный, с сигаретой, руки в наколках изображает девушку-селянку, пошедшую по наклонной. А вокруг него мелким бесом вышивает Ангус. Всем, включая саму группу, весело!

'Back In Black' Tips 21M Mark

Among the various certifications issued by the Recording Industry Association (RIAA) in May is a truly notable achievement for Australian hard rock act AC/DC. The group's 1980 breakthrough "Back in Black" was certified for U.S. shipments of 21 million copies, tying it for fifth place on the RIAA's all-time best-sellers list.

The group's first album with lead singer Brian Johnson, who replaced Bon Scott following his alcohol-related death, "Back in Black" was originally released by Atco and was reissued in 2003 by Epic along with the rest of the band's catalog. The set was certified platinum (1 million U.S. copies shipped) just months after its August 1980 release.

"Back in Black" is now tied on the all-time list with Billy Joel's "Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & II," which reached 21 million in 2000. The leader of the list remains "Eagles/Their Greatest Hits" (Asylum), last certified in 2002 at 28 million. In second is Michael Jackson's "Thriller" (Epic), which reached 27 million in an April RIAA accounting, followed by Pink Floyd's "The Wall" (23 million/1999; Capitol) and "Led Zeppelin IV" (22 million/1999; Atlantic).

AC/DC also earned a triple-platinum certification in May for 1976's "High Voltage."

Others tipping new multi-platinum heights include Usher, whose latest album, "Confessions" (LaFace) has shipped nine million U.S. copies. Gwen Stefani's solo debut "Love, Angel, Music, Baby" (Interscope) hit the double-platinum mark, as did Rascal Flatts' "Feels Like Today" (Lyric Street) and Chicago's "The Very Best Of: Only the Beginning" (Rhino).

Newly minted platinum titles in May were "Barrio Fino" by Daddy Yankee (VI Music), Jack Johnson's "In Between Dreams" and "On and On" (Universal), Los Tigres Del Norte's "Jefe de Jefes" (Fonovisa), Jason Mraz's "Waiting for My Rocket To Come" (Elektra), Rob Thomas' "Something To Be" (Atlantic) and Queen's now-aptly titled "The Platinum Collection" (Hollywood).

Да что там вытрезвители! Исторический факт, когда в 89 году американские войска при помощи мощных динамиков устроили психическую атаку, чтобы "выкурить" таким образом скрывавшегося в посольстве Ватикана в Панама-Сити панамского диктатора Норьегу. Из динамиков целыми сутками шарашили кроме прочих и AC/DC, что мешало переговорам Норьеги со сторонниками. Наверное, генерал наслушался тогда "Hells Bells" досыта.
Американцы взяли этот прием на вооружение. Металлом они глушили также мятежных иракцев во время недавней войны в Ираке.

Теперь Ангусу Янгу наверное америкосы всю грудь медалями увешают, как Брежневу.

P.S. Эту же фишку используют HIM в клипе "Solitary Man", и куча другого народа, но ассоциация с камерой скользящей вдоль грифа навсегда закрепилась за AC/DC.

AC/DC's MALCOLM YOUNG Voted 'Most Underrated Guitarist' - June 14, 2005

According to a posting on AC-DC.net, AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young was voted "Most Underrated Guitarist" in the February 2005 issue of Guitar World magazine. Meanwhile, Malcolm's brother Angus won the top position in the "Who Would You Most Like To Have A Drink With" category.

AC/DC are expected to begin recording their next studio album in the U.K. later in the year. The group's last album, "Stiff Upper Lip" (2000), was recorded at the Warehouse studio (owned by Bryan Adams) in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

AC/DC: BRIAN JOHNSON's 'Path Of Helen Of Troy' DVD Now Available - July 8, 2005

According to a posting on the AC/DC fan site Crabsody In Blue, a new DVD release from The Goddess Odyssey Television Series, "AC/DC's Brian Johnson - Goddess Odyssey - Path of Helen of Troy", takes AC/DC's legendary frontman Brian Johnson to remote Sparta, Greece. Horizontal jogging, women running naked through the streets, a history lesson like you have never seen from one of rock-n-roll’s finest. Brian travels through remote areas of Greece seeking out the shrines, temples, and paths of the woman whose face launched a thousand ships and whose passion led to the downfall of a civilization.

The myths, the legends, the realities uncovered on a modern day journey. A Geordie who speaks no Greek and a Mayor who speaks no English, the gypsies, throat slitting threats, orgy sites, getting banned from museums, isolated in the middle of nowhere with only the local plonk. A fun, wild trip with great music.

The DVD contains the original television episode, music from Brian's upcoming theater production "Helen of Troy", scenes from Brian's home video camera and X-rated, over-the-top footage not shown on TV.

According to AC-DC.net, Russian label OVC Media has just released a new CD (not a bootleg), entitled "Geordie Unreleased Tapes". It features 12 GEORDIE tracks, including 10 previously unavailable (a couple sung by the band's guitarist Vic Malcolm, the rest by Brian Johnson), recorded between 1973 and 1975, plus Brian Johnson's solo single from 1976. Limited to 500 copies, the CD can be mail ordered through rottluff@mail.ru.

AC/DC: Scottish Town To Erect Plaque To Late Frontman BON SCOTT? - July 25, 2005

According to The Herald, a fundraising drive is in full swing to erect a plaque to late AC/DC frontman Bon Scott in Kirriemuir, Scotland — Bon's birthplace and home of his family in his early years.

The town's museum, Gateway to the Glens, is currently holding an exhibition entitled Bon Scott – Rock Legend Son of Kirriemuir, featuring an array of musical memorabilia.

Among the tributes is a statue of the singer made out of rock confectionery. Using the same 120-year-old recipe used by the town's Star Rock Shop, Eddie Summerton, a sculptor, has also created 400 sticks of rock emblazoned with the phrase "Let There Be Rock", in tribute to the band's classic song.

The exhibition, which runs until August 20, may not be to everyone's taste, but the town's business community can hardly grumble. The museum's visitors' book reveals French, German and Australian fans all beating a path towards Kirriemuir.

HEAVY metal fans, delighted at the news that an exhibition about colourful AC/DC singer Bon Scott is to be established in his birthplace, the sedate Angus town of Kirriemuir, wonder if the memorabilia will include one particular bottle. During one of the band's infamous touring excesses in Texas, Bon consumed an entire bottle of alcohol in a single gulp. It was only then Bon discovered it was aftershave.

Showing his native fatalism, Bon, who sadly did drink himself to death, joked that at least his breath didn't smell.

AC/DC: 'The Bon Scott Years' Unauthorized DVD Due In November - Sep. 16, 2005

According to a post at AC/DC Ruff Stuff, the previously announced AC/DC DVD, "Inside AC/DC", has been retitled "AC/DC - The Bon Scott Years" and is currently scheduled for release in November. Item description reads as follows:

"This is the ultimate critical review of a legendary band in the crucial years with Bon Scott at the helm.

For many fans Bon was a legendary frontman without equal, and his leather-lunged power was the key to a host of classic hits from 'Whole Lotta Rosie' to 'Let There Be Rock'.

"Featuring rare footage, much of it appearing on DVD for the first time, this powerful film draws together a team of leading critics and working musicians to review the legacy of one of the greatest frontmen in rock.

"The film is totally unauthorized and has not been approved by past or present members or management of the band."

As previously reported, guitarist Angus Young recently told Hit Parader magazine that AC/DC have written and recorded so much material over the last year that they might seriously consider making their next album release a double disc.

"We do have a lot of songs at the moment," he said. "But that's not incredibly unusual for us. We tend to have a lot of material at some point in the recording process, then begin to whittle it down. But this time, we like a lot of what we're hearing, so the idea of expanding things out is not out of the realm of possibility."

Undercover News recently reported that AC/DC are among the artists who are said to be planning performances in Australia next March to mark the 2006 Commonwealth Games to be held in Melbourne.

AC/DC: 'Life Before Brian' DVD To Surface In October - Sep. 22, 2005

Amazon.com is currently listing an AC/DC DVD, entitled "And Then There Was Rock: Life Before Brian", to be released on October 25 via Chrome Dreams. The product description reads as follows:

"'AC/DC: And Then There Was Rock' charts the band's early years, up to the tragic death of Bon Scott. This documentary takes the cameras where they have never previously preyed, interviewing AC/DC's original singer Dave Evans, original drummer Colin Burgess, school friends of Bon, Angus and Malcolm, Bon's lifelong friend Vincent Lovegrove, AC/DC biographers Malcolm Dome and Clinton Walker and many others. Никогда не исполнял, насколько я знаю. Песня для меня интересна не спешными, вкусными гитарными аккордами и нарастающим напряжением в вокале, хорошая стилизация под блюз. По моему живьем эта вещь вообще не исполнялась.

AC/DC's ANGUS YOUNG Tops MAXIM's List of Short Men - Nov. 18, 2005

The Associated Press is reporting that AC/DC guitarist Angus Young has topped Maxim's list of the "25 greatest short dudes of all time," standing tall at 5 feet 2 inches.

NBA guard Spud Webb, at 5 feet 7 inches, is No. 2, followed by Napoleon Bonaparte (5 feet 4 inches), Naim Suleymangolu (4 feet 11 inches) and Yuri Gagarin (5 feet 2 inches).

The magazine, in its December issue, claims to be helping women "begin a long overdue fight against their genetically determined shallowness when choosing a partner."

Yoda, at No. 6, is the shortest on the list. His height is calculated at 2 feet 2 inches.

Other great short dudes: Martin Scorsese, Jon Stewart, Prince, Kurt Cobain and two of the Hobbits from "The Lord of the Rings" films — Elijah Wood and Sean Astin.

The tallest "short dude?" Pro football player Doug Flutie, at 5 feet 10 inches, who is ranked at No. 24.
