Ещё немного о каверах. Lucky Peterson хорошо исполняет Up from the skies, мне понравилось. Хорош трибьют Lonnie Smith Trio - Foxy Lady: A Tribute to Hendrix. Джазовая обработка, очень любопытно. А ещё знаю, что на последнем альбоме Joan Osborne есть кавер на Axis: Bold As Love. Непременно послушаю.

Весной будущего года запланирован к выходу новый альбом-трибьют Джими Хендриксу, все треки в нем будут выполнены в ритм-н-блюзовом стиле.
По словам составителя сборника, сестры Хендрикса Дженни, он будет включать в себя ранее не известную композицию в исполнении Стиви Рэя Вогана , а также совсем свежие кавер-версии на песни Джими, записанные Принсом, Джорджем Клинтоном, Эриком Клэптоном и Musiq.
Заглавной песней диска стала композиция "Power of Soul". Уже сейчас известно, что в него войдут "Little Wing" и "Third Stone From the Sun", исполненные Воэном, "Are You Experienced?" от Musiq, а также перепетые Принсом "Red House" и "Purple House". Сейчас ведутся переговоры о том, чтобы пригласить для записи диска и других именитых музыкантов — Стинга, Сантану, Джона Ли Хукера и Чаку Хан.

Сборник "Power of Soul" станет уже не первым трибьютом Хендриксу. Около 10 лет назад был издан диск "Stoned Free", в записи которого приняли участие Soundgarden, The Cure, Эрик Клэптон, Бадди Гай и Seal.

Что-то прорвало народ на трибьюты. Скоро будут отмечать повсеместными гуляниями даты выхода трибьютов и записывать трибьюты на трибьюты. А потом трибьюты на трибьюты трибьютов и т.д. Джон Ли нам с того света подпевать будет.

Принца по-моему и близко не надо бы подпускать..чего-то я от него не торчу совсем.

CСомневаюсь я, что с таким составом музыкантов может выйти что-то хорошее... тем более, когда это касается такого исполнителя, как Хендрикс. Ну единственный, кто, на мой взгляд, может действительно сделать что-то интересное, так это Клэптон.

PS А если честно, то и вправду все эти трибьюты уже достали. Как будето ничего нового сочинить не могут... :-(((((

"Little Wing" в исполнении СРВ хорошо известна (как впрочем и в исполненни Эрика).А вот Сантану бы послушал,Хендрикс в его исполнении не припоминается.

Red House в исполнении Джона Ли можно встретить на его Don't Look Back. Видимо оттуда и возьмут.

Top Acts To Rock For Hendrix

Experience Hendrix, the holding company that oversees the Jimi Hendrix estate, is launching a pilot tour of three concerts celebrating the Hendrix legacy, Billboard.biz reports. The dates are Feb. 22 at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle; Feb. 24 at Roseland Theatre in Portland, Ore.; and Feb. 26 at the Warfield in San Francisco.

Participating artists will include Buddy Guy, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Living Colour, Alice In Chains' Jerry Cantrell, Kid Rock, Hubert Sumlin (Howlin' Wolf), Sheldon Reynolds (Earth, Wind & Fire), Indigenous and Joe Satriani. All will be backed by former Hendrix bandmates Mitch Mitchell on drums and Billy Cox on bass, with Bad Company's Paul Rodgers on vocals.

Experience Hendrix Tour Takes Shape

Additional details have been confirmed for the three-date tour celebrating the legacy of Jimi Hendrix. Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready has been added to the kick-off show on Feb. 22 in Seattle, which will also feature Buddy Guy (electric and acoustic) and appearances by Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Living Colour, Jerry Cantrell, Indigenous, Kid Rock guitarist Kenny Olson, Hubert Sumlin, Earth Wind & Fire's Sheldon Reynolds, Eric Gales and Double Trouble's Chris Layton and Tommy Shannon.

Former Hendrix sidemen Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox will appear at all three shows, as will Bad Company vocalist Paul Rodgers.

Hendrix Memorabilia Sold At Auction

An auction of rock'n'roll memorabilia sold an original Jimi Hendrix studio recording and some copyrights to his artwork yesterday (June 16) in London, but bidders found prices for John Lennon's last known autograph and Prince's first studio recording too high.

A first-generation recording of Hendrix's "Burning of the Midnight Lamp" in its original box sold for $36,500. The song first appeared on the late guitarist's 1968 album "Electric Ladyland." Copyrights of 18 pieces of art by Hendrix also sold for $75,270. The artwork itself was sold last year.

"Intellectual property is becoming today's new collectable," said Ted Owen, co-owner of the Cooper Owen auction house, where the "Rocks Legends" sale took place.

But two other items did not draw high enough bids to sell. What is believed to be the last autograph given by Lennon failed to reach its minimum price of $150,000. Lennon signed it while leaving a New York recording studio shortly before he was shot and killed outside his Manhattan apartment building in 1980.

The first studio recording made by a 17-year-old Prince at the Cookhouse Studios in Minneapolis in 1975 also did not sell, failing to reach its minimum bid of $634,000. The copyright to the recording was included.

Kin of Jimi Hendrix Resume Court Battle

SEATTLE -- Relatives of the late guitar legend Jimi Hendrix returned to court Monday to begin another legal battle over which family members should receive money from the musician's posthumous releases, royalties and merchandise.

The case, the latest of several that have entangled the Hendrix estate in the last decade, concerns the last will of Jimi's father, Al Hendrix, who inherited the rights to Jimi's music when the rock star died in 1970.

Jimi's brother, Leon, says he was unfairly written out of the will at the behest of his stepsister, Janie Hendrix, who runs the company in charge of the estate, Experience Hendrix LLC, with Jimi's cousin, Robert Hendrix.

"This is about greed," Leon's lawyer, Robert Curran, told King County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ramsdell during his opening statement. "Janie has lived a very, very good life. She travels the world first-class. Her family goes with her. They get picked up in limos. They stay in first-class hotels."

Meanwhile, other relatives who, under Al Hendrix's will, were supposed to receive money from posthumous releases, royalties and merchandising struggle to make ends meet while working as store clerks or other low-paying jobs, he said.

Leon Hendrix, 56, is suing to have Janie ousted as the company's boss and to have his father's will revised to include him. Al Hendrix died in 2002 at age 82.

Janie Hendrix rolled her eyes and shot dismissive glances as lawyers for Leon Hendrix and other family members recited a litany of allegedly excessive spending.

Her lawyer, John Wilson, told the judge that some of the money has been repaid, and a special audit will determine how much more should be repaid.

But Wilson stressed that what is at issue is Al Hendrix's will, and that he did not want Leon Hendrix or his children to have any involvement with the company or receive any money from it.

A 1996 version of Al Hendrix's will would have directed 24 percent of the estate to Leon Hendrix, 38 percent to his stepsister and the balance to other beneficiaries. But it was rewritten in 1997 to exclude Leon.

Wilson insisted that Al Hendrix decided on his own to write Leon Hendrix out of the will, but Leon's lawyer said the father was infirm in his old age and could not comprehend even simple legal issues.

Jimi Hendrix had released just three albums before he died at age 27, but he had an extensive catalog of unreleased tracks. For about two decades after his death, his estate was run by a California attorney who sold many of the copyrights to other companies.

At the urging of Janie Hendrix, Al Hendrix sued the lawyer in the early 1990s to regain the rights he had sold. That case was settled but left the company in debt.

According to Janie Hendrix, her father did not want money paid to the beneficiaries listed in his will until the debt was paid off. That is expected to happen in 2010.
