Sonny Landreth - who's been invited by Eric Clapton to perform at the last two Crossroads Guitar Festivals - will release his ninth album on 20 May on Landfall Records. From The Reach features lots of star power: Eric Clapton, Jimmy Buffet, Vince Gill, Mark Knopfler, Robben Ford, Eric Johnson and Dr. John. EC adds vocals and guitars to "When I Still Had You" and guitar to "Storm of Worry."

Speaking of Dr. John, his newest CD, City That Care Forgot, is due 3 June. The title is a reminder about the devastation visited upon New Orleans and it's residents by Hurricane Katrina. A number of guest musicians, including Eric Clapton, were invited into the studio to help out the good doctor.

Eric Clapton and His Band are getting ready to embark on a 27 date summer tour of the eastern U.S., Canada and Europe. The U.S. leg kicks off 3 May in Tampa Bay, Florida and ends 5 June in Wantagh, New York. The European gigs take place in late June and August.

Eric has put together a band consisting of familiar faces and some new: Doyle Bramhall II (guitar / vocals), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Pino Palladino (bass), Ian Thomas (drums), Sharon White (backing vocals) and Michelle John (vocals).

Chris Stainton has been an integral part of EC's touring and recording bands for much of the last 30 years, except for a hiatus from 1988-1992 and again from 1998-2001. Doyle Bramhall, Michelle White and Sharon John have been featured in his touring band since 2004.

Ian Thomas most recently played behind Eric at February's Winwood / Clapton Concerts at Madison Square Garden and at the Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2007.

Although this will be Pino Palladino's first tour with Eric, Pino has worked with Eric in the studio over the years, playing on tracks on Journeyman (1989), Pilgrim (1998), Reptile (2001) and Back Home (2005).

June 10 2008 will see the release of Solomon Burke’s highly personal new album, Like A Fire. Produced by Grammy®-winning master drummer Steve Jordan, this soulful new project features songs written specifically for the album by an all-star team of songwriters, including Eric Clapton, Ben Harper, Jesse Harris, and Keb’ Mo’.
Solomon will embark on a national tour this summer, including stops at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the Hollywood Bowl.

South Florida's "Sunfest" opened on Wednesday, 30 April. Held in downtown West Palm Beach, this year's festival takes place from 30 April thru 4 May. The opening night lineup included Michael Franti & Spearhead, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic and headliner, Sheryl Crow. During Shery's set, Eric Clapton was a surprise guest. They performed "Higher Ground."

EC has previously recorded the song for the tribute disc, "Conception - An Interpretation of Stevie Wonder's Songs." (released 2003)

Clapton has been at the Four Seasons Palm Beach for the past two weeks, both to rehearse for his upcoming tour and...

On Saturday 3 May, Eric Clapton kicked off the U.S. / Canada portion of his tour. Opening night was at the Ford Amphitheatre in Tampa Bay, Florida. Eric's band for this summer tour has both new personnel and familiar faces: Doyle Bramhall II (guitar / vocals), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Pino Palladino (bass), Ian Thomas (drums), Sharon White (backing vocals) and Michelle John (backing vocals). The show, which lasted about two-hours, included many of Eric's well-known songs including, "Tell The Truth", "Little Wing", "Double Trouble", and "Running On Faith".

Eric and his band now move on to the Seminole Hardrock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida for a concert on Monday 5 May. Then, there's a short break in the tour until 22 May when the band performs at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. The U.S. and Canada dates wrap up 5 June in Wantagh, New York. All dates are in the eastern regions of the U.S. and Canada. The European gigs take place later in June and in August.

Tour Support for all U.S. and Canada dates is Robert Randolph & The Family Band. They also served as tour support for the 2004 World Tour and appeared at both Crossroads Guitar Festivals.
