MILLS McCARTNEY LOSES LEG AFTER ROW WITH J.LO'S GUARDS

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY'S amputee wife HEATHER MILLS McCARTNEY lost her prosthetic leg during a violent confrontation with security guards at JENNIFER LOPEZ's New York office.

The incident happened on Tuesday (13SEP05) as the former model-turned animal rights activist attempted to deliver a People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETS) DVD showing creatures being killed for fur to Lopez, following a demonstration at which the 37-year-old pleaded with fans to boycott the superstar's music, movies and clothes because she uses fur in her fashion range Sweetface.

After striding into the building opposite Manhattan's Bryant Park, accompanied by an entourage of journalists and photographers, McCartney Mills - who lost a leg after being hit by a car in 1993 - was confronted by burley minders who yelled "you have no authority to be here. Get out! Leave the floor immediately!"

In the tussle that ensued, Mills McCartney's prosthetic leg became detached. She bent down and clutched her knee in pain, before asking to use a bathroom so she could reattach the leg. Guards refused and she was forced to cling onto a photographer as she carried out the humiliating task on a stairwell.

Photographer Richard Corkery tells 25hoursonline.com, "I saw her touch her knee and I could see she was in pain. She limped to the ladies room but it was locked. I found another door open - it lead on to the stairwell. At least she could have a private moment - which is what she needed."

According to 25hoursonline.com, Lopez's guards continued to verbally attack the group - screaming "Call the cops! Call the cops!!" - until Mills McCartney recovered her composure and was able to leave the building.

McCARTNEY: 'I MISS BEING IN A BAND'

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY misses his time with THE BEATLES, because he was at his most creative when he was one of the Fab Four.

The singer now makes music on his own and he admits he misses the creative input of equals - as well as the camaraderie that comes with a band.

He says, "I miss company. I miss having a bunch of people around to tell jokes to and to hear jokes from. You do get a little bit like an absent-minded professor on your own.

"It's actually not a bad thing, but it's more marked when you're in the studio yourself, without a producer. You get stir crazy."

McCARTNEY CAUTIOUS AROUND SELF-DECLARED 'FANS'

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is cautious whenever he meets people who describe themselves as a "fan" - because he fears they're fanatics who are out to attack him.

According to his wife HEATHER MILLS McCARTNEY, the British rocker is concerned about meeting the same fate as his former BEATLES bandmates: JOHN LENNON, who was shot to death at the hands of a fan, and GEORGE HARRISON, who survived a stabbing.

And Mills McCartney warns those hoping to secure a chat with their idol should avoid referring to themselves as fans.

She says, "The word fan means fanatical. So when you go up to Paul, don't say you're a fan, say, 'I'm a great admirer.' Because a fanatical person is someone that shot John Lennon and stabbed George Harrison."

McCARTNEY SLAMS MADONNA AND ROBBIE

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY can't stand the music of MADONNA and ROBBIE WILLIAMS, despite respecting the artists as nice people.

The former BEATLE shared the stage with the MATERIAL GIRL and ex-TAKE THAT hunk at the London Live 8 earlier this year (02JUL05).

After Williams' song ANGELS was named Best Song of the past 25 years at February's (05) Brit Awards, McCartney says, "I wasn't that convinced by Angels winning the best song of the last 25 years.

"I think for an ex-boy group person, he's done well. He makes pretty good records for his audience. But I'm not a Robbie fan."

Despite admitting he has met Madonna several times, McCartney's is far from enamoured with her music, saying, "I've met her and she's a pretty cool person, but her records have never really turned me on."

McCARTNEY HAILS BLUNT

BEATLES legend SIR PAUL McCARTNEY has hailed pop newcomer JAMES BLUNT as the future of music, after being impressed with the singer/songwriter's shirt removal in the video for his smash hit YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL.

McCartney is impressed with the new star's singing and songwriting ability and is a huge fan of the new album BACK TO BEDLAM.

He says, "I saw the video and I thought, 'What's he doing with his top off?' But it's quite a clever pay-off when he jumps off the cliff at the end, so I thought, 'Oh all right, I'll let you off.'

"He's a good new name. He's got good songs and sings well."

McCARTNEY FELT LENNON'S PRESENCE AT BEATLES REUNION

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is convinced late rocker JOHN LENNON took on the form of a white peacock and visited his former THE BEATLES bandmates during a recording session for his song FREE AS A BIRD.

McCartney, GEORGE HARRISON and RINGO STARR performed backing music to accompany an old Lennon vocal recording to produce the 1995 single to accompany the release of the ANTHOLOGY series.

But when the three former Beatles posed outside the recording studio for a photoshoot, a white peacock mysteriously joined them.

McCartney recalls, "That's John. Spooky, eh? It was like John was hanging around. We felt that all through the recording."

PAUL McCARTNEY SAYS OUTTAKES COLLECTION IS STILL IN THE CARDS

Paul McCartney says that he'll eventually get around to putting out some of the hundreds of outtakes that haven't made the final cut of his albums. McCartney, who kicks off a four night stand tonight (September 30th) at New York's Madison Square Garden, told the Massachusetts newspaper The Republican that, quote, "I know there are a lot of people interested in that kind of thing. They're all around, I just never got quite inspired enough (to release them)." McCartney went on to add that, "I think when I have a little bit of time, I might sort of look around at all that stuff that's been bootlegged or hasn't been released and figure out some way of getting it out."

McCartney has been working periodically on an outtakes project called Cold Cuts since 1974. He's nearly issued the collection four times -- in 1974, 1978, 1981 and 1987. Plans for a Wings-era box set were scrapped just prior to the release of the career-spanning Wingspan CD and DVD.

Among the many gems gathering dust in McCartney's vaults are an entire album's worth of acoustic Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Buddy Holly covers he recorded in July 1974 in the backyard of Abbey Road Studios.

An unreleased 1978 soundtrack album to a full-length Rupert The Bear animated feature that never materialized.

Also unreleased is a fully mixed multi-track tape of Wings' last official concert in Glasgow, Scotland from December 17th, 1979.

Fans following Paul McCartney's Lexus entourage after his first concert at Madison Square Garden got an earful from Macca but it wasn't in the form of a song. Paul and company (without Heather) stopped at a favorite Italian eatery in midtown Manhattan for a bite (a salad). The fans kept watch from across the street as McCartney's security watched them.

Fourty-five minutes later a fuming McCartney walked out of the restauarant yelling, "Don't f*king follow me! ...if you follow me, you don't get sh*t. OK? Follow me and you get nothing. That's it guys, it's over. Have a nice night."

The stunned fans froze.

But Paul wasn't finished. As the entourage pulled away and passed the fans, Paul rolled down the window and warned, "I'll remember all your faces guys."

HEATHER BLASTS POT SMOKERS

HEATHER MILLS McCARTNEY is appalled by the declassification of marijuana in Britain - because she thinks all drugs are "disgusting".

The model and activist, who is married to former pot smoker SIR PAUL McCARTNEY, insists she has never understood why anyone uses recreational drugs - and always berates those who think it's OK to puff in front of her.

She says, "I used to say, 'Only losers do drugs, you've got to go for some therapy, what's the matter with you?.' Now I have a bit more understanding, I'm older and wiser but if I saw someone take a puff from a joint, I would freak out completely.

"I would run round with my air freshener saying, 'This stinks, get it out of my house.'

"We know people in mental institutions through marijuana; some people can smoke it and it does nothing, but if you've got a light chemical imbalance you can literally create so much damage to yourself and bring on paranoia and depression.

"I'm horrified that it's been declassified in England. It's horrific... All drugs are disgusting."

McCARTNEY BLASTS KFC ON TOUR

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY is giving animal activists at People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals a boost on his US tour - by taking on their number one foe in his official tour programme.

McCartney has donated a full-page ad in the programme, blasting fast food chicken chain KFC over its live-scalding of chicks.

McCartney's ad is an open letter to KFC boss DAVID NOVAK, in which he scolds, "If KFC suppliers treated dogs or cats the way they treat chickens, they could be charged with the crime of cruelty to animals."

He continues, "I am a vegetarian because I realise that even little chickens suffer pain and fear, experience a range of feelings and emotions, and are as intelligent as mammals, including dogs, cats, and even some primates."

McCARTNEY: 'MARTIN'S HEARING LOSS IS PARTLY THE BEATLES' FAULT'

SIR PAUL McCARTNEY holds himself and his fellow BEATLES partly responsible for music legend GEORGE MARTIN's hearing loss.

The revered producer has been forced to retire because he no longer has the finely tuned ear which made him famous - and McCartney fears Abbey Road recording sessions with the Fab Four could be partly to blame.

He says, "We did listen to it too loud. He just got to the stage where he thinks, very nobly, that he shouldn't produce... I think it's very cool of him to know when not to do it."

McCartney wanted Martin to produce his new album CHAOS AND CREATION IN THE BACKYARD and when he couldn't persuade his old friend to return to the studio, he asked the producer to offer him an alternative.

He adds, "I just rang him up and said, 'If I can't have you, who's the man?' He chatted it around, thought about it, talked to his son, and a couple of days later he came back and said NIGEL (BECK and RADIOHEAD producer NIGEL GODRICH)."
