Keith Richards was hospitalized for a mild concussion he suffered while vacationing in Fiji. Keith was injured earlier this week and flown to a hospital in Auckland, New Zealand for treatment. "Following treatment locally and as a precautionary measure, he flew to a hospital accompanied by his wife, Patti, for observation," said Stones' publicist Fran Curtis. Doctors say Keith is making a speedy recovery.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- Keith Richards has been released from a New Zealand hospital where the Rolling Stones guitarist was admitted with a head injury after he reportedly fell out of a palm tree.

Richards, 62, suffered a mild concussion while on vacation in Fiji Thursday. Several Australian and New Zealand media outlets reported the fall from the tree.

New Zealand's Sunday Star-Times also reported that Richards got on a Jet Ski after the fall and had another accident.

Richards was treated in a Fiji hospital before being airlifted to Auckland's Ascot Hospital for observation. It was not immediately clear exactly when he was released or where he went afterward.

"I can categorically confirm Mr. Richards ... is no longer a patient in this hospital," hospital duty manager Geoff Sparks told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "He has been discharged.

Band spokeswoman Fran Curtis has said only that Richards was injured earlier this week and flown to New Zealand with his wife, Patti, for observation. Her statement Saturday did not comment on Richards' condition or how he was injured.

Richards and his wife were staying at the exclusive Wakaya Club resort on a small Fijian island when he was injured.

Газета The Sun (прошу это учесть) пишет, что перед возобновлением гастролей Киту придется пройти операцию по откачке крови из черепа, для чего ему соответственно должны просверлить отверстие в голове. Как сообщил достоверный источник, "Несчастный случай, произошедший с Китом, обернулся хуже, чем все ожидали. После обследования врачи решили сделать дренаж черепа. Он испугался, но ему сказали, что после этого он полностью поправится".
Окружение Кита считает, что недавний несчастный случай наконец-то положит конец его бурному образу жизни. Кит уже якобы поклялся завязать с бухлом и куревом.

Кит впервые появился на публике после инцидента. В четверг улыбающийся Кит отправился с женой и детьми на мерседесе осматривать достопримечательности Окленда. Семья остановилась, чтобы пообедать и поглазеть на витрину агентства недвижимости.

Brain op rocker Richards looks better than ever

KEITH Richards has been given the all-clear by doctors following brain surgery.

The Rolling Stone, 62, wearing a cap to cover his bandaged head, looked healthier than usual as he left hospital with wife Patti, 50, yesterday.

His son Marlon, 36, confirmed the rock legend was out of danger, saying: "Yes, it seems that way but I can't say anymore." Speaking in Britain, bandmate Ronnie Wood's wife Jo added: "He's as strong as an ox. He'll bounce back, Keith always does."

The news means Keef could join the others on tour in Europe in June. Before leaving hospital in Auckland, New Zealand, doctors checked his skull - drilled to remove a life-threatening blood clot - could cope with the changes in cabin pressure on the flight home.

Keef was injured after falling 15ft out of a palm tree while scavenging for coconuts on holiday in Fiji.

Keith Richards is flying to USA today, according to information given by the Rolling Stones management in Europe to the organizers of the show in Horsens, Denmark. Keith will be examined by specialists back home, and an announcement regarding the European Tour is expected by Monday May 22.

Keith Richards is all but over his big bang--now he's getting ready for A Bigger Bang.

The Rolling Stone is back in the U.S. after having been treated for a mild—or, depending on which reports you read, life-threatening—head injury in New Zealand and is preparing to hit the road with his Forty Licks bandmates in June.

"Keith Richards has arrived back home in the U.S. from New Zealand," read a posting on the band's official Website. "He is feeling great, happy to be home and looking forward to getting back on the road with the Rolling Stones next month."

The aging "Can't Get No Satisfaction" rockers were due to kick off their A Bigger Bang tour in Barcelona this Saturday, only to have the string of gigs postponed after Richards' coconut-induced concussion.

The accident-prone Rolling Stone suffered a high-profile spill on Apr. 27 while vacationing at Fiji's elite Wakaya Club, though the exact culprit—be it tropical produce or errant Jet Ski—is still unknown.

Richards was flown to Auckland's Ascot Hospital where the rumor mill quickly circulated reports that the felled guitarist was alternately undergoing a craniotomy for subdural hematoma, or simply suffering from minor headaches.

While the reality likely lie somewhere in the middle, Richards' publicist was quick to deny that the 62-year-old had suffered any brain damage, at least as a result of his latest mishap.

Fran Curtis, the guitarist's London-based publicist, also put to rest a report from the New Zealand Herald that the Grammy winner had undergone not one but two surgeries to relieve pressure buildup and stop bleeding in his skull and that his condition was much more dire than originally let on.

"Keith Richards did not undergo a separate operation," she said at the time. "The first and only operation was done on Monday, May 8, and was 100 percent successful. There was no brain damage. He continues to improve as expected."

In fact, per Curtis, he recovered better than expected.

She admirably continued to work damage control, insisting Richards' sole surgery was minor, "a small operation to relieve the pressure" from a mild concussion, and that he was already on the road to recovery, having been "up and chatting, and phoning New York" since his release from the hospital on May 10.

The rocker was discharged from the Down Under hospital but remained an outpatient at the center, ordered to return regularly for routine check-ups.

"Personally I would like to thank everyone at Ascot Hospital for the truly wonderful care I received," Richards said in a statement upon his release earlier this month. "From the doctors to the beautiful ladies who make the painful nights less painful and shorter...Many thanks Kiwis."

According to BBC News, Richards' better half, Patti Hansen, accompanied the rocker back to his Connecticut home.
