Кто-то может подсказать, выходил ли раньше аудио-вариант Act Naturally (with Buck Owens), и если да, то в каком виде?

Итак, по крайней мере 1 раритет будет - Act Naturally. Хорошо бы, чтобы Goodnight Vienna была сингловой, и еще хорошо, чтобы Never Without You и King Of Broken Hearts были в промо-эдитах. Может еще чего будет в эдитах.

On June 24, Ringo and Buck Owens shoot a promotional video in America for their new recording of 'Act Naturally'.

On July 5, the Ringo and Buck Owens' duet of 'Act Naturally' is released on a single in America.

On October 2, The Buck Owens album 'Act Naturally' is released in America, featuring his duet with Ringo on the title track. (The UK release takes place on February 19, 1990.)

Потеряв Пола EMI решила зацепиться за Рингу?

В трек-листе есть хорошие песни, но в целом сборник не самый великий и можно было ждать гораздо большего. Кроме того, многие из этих песен относительно часто переиздавались. У Ринги есть другие песни - настоящие потенциальные хиты - зарытые в альбомах, не издававшиеся в качестве синглов или на сборниках. Из таких песен полностью состоит "Сентиментальное путешествие", большая часть "Много блюза", из "Ринго" уж точно можно было взять "6 часов" (длинную версию). На "Ринго 4" много хорошего (причем, Ринга - автор). Из остальных альбомов тоже можно нарыть по 2-3 отличных номера. Но их почему-то нет в сборнике. Жаль.

А это не совсем понял:

2. It Don't Come Easy (1971) - ну да, имела коммерческий успех, как сингл, и Ринга сам ее написал. Но песня сама по себе не самая яркая в его дискографии, как мелодически, так и в плане аранжировки. Так, попс.

5. I'm The Greatest (1973) - тоже совсем не хит, просто забавная песня. Ну да, Леннон написал, а трое битлов записывали. И что? Неплохо, но по сравнению с песнями из "Сентиментал" никакой критики не выдерживает.

6. Oh My My (1973) - симпатичный диско-номер, популярный в свое время. Но я бы не стал его включать в сборник лучших вещей, своеобразный итог всей жизни.

7. Only You (And You Alone) (1974) - просто плохо аранжированный и исполненный номер, к тому же звучащий как будто совсем не в диапазоне вокальных возможностей Ринги (демка Леннона ничуть не лучше).

10. Snookeroo (1974) - что хорошего можно сказать об этой песне кроме того, что ее автор - Элтон Джон?

11. The No-No Song (1974)- симпатичная песенка, я ее включил в свой персональный сборник Ринги.

12. (It's All Down To) Goodnight Vienna (1974) - сочинил Леннон. Кроме этого не вижу в ней ничего выдающегося.


13. Hey Baby (1976) - вообще не понял

15. A Dose Of Rock 'N' Roll (1976) - вообще не понял. В этом альбоме куча настоящих хитов, а выбрали вот такое диско-посредственное

16. King Of Broken Hearts (1998) - не понял

17. Never Without You (2003) - не понял

19. Wrack My Brain (1981) - сочинил Харрисон. А вообще, по-моему, самая искусственная и надуманная песня в репертуаре Ринги.

20. Fading In and Fading Out (2005) - не понял.


P.S. Может быть, по поводу некоторых номеров я не прав (недооценил), но очевиден главный принцип составления сборника:

1. Песни, написанные или предложенные "звездами" (Леннон, Харрисон, Элтон Джон и проч.).
Правда, здесь непонятно, почему нет ни одной из песен Маккартни (гораздо более выигрышных, вроде "Six O`Clock", "Pure Gold", аранжированной Полом для альбома "Сентиментал" "Stardust", песен из альбома "Stop And Smell The Roses" (я не считаю их выдающимися, но они гораздо лучше включенной в сборник из той же пластинки песни Харрисона Wrack My Brain), песен из Vertical Man, над которыми хорошо поработал Маккартни).
Как будто новый сборник выходит в рамках оказания финансовой помощи наследникам Леннона и Харрисона? Но Элтон Джон в помощи вроде не нуждается? Или Ринга в очередной раз решил, что "Пола слишком много"? Так ведь его много вполне по заслугам?


2. Попсовые мейнстримовские "хиты".
В кавычках, потому что с точки зрения прошедших лет, достоинства многих из них можно пересмотреть, учитывая, что у Ринги есть другие, недооцененные и по-настоящему сильные песни. То ли он сам не понял, что в его пластинках - жемчужины, то ли не верит собственному вкусу, то ли хочет просто выпустить коммерческий с его точки зрения сборник.

В этом сборнике выбрано все правильно. Во-первых 7 хитов ТОП-10, + 3 хита ТОП 40, + 3 типа хита (ТОП 80). Остальное по вкусу.

Ага, еще 3 хита типа ТОП 100, и 2 хита типа ТОП 200.
Я о другом говорю. Новый сборник в принципе составлен неправильно, с точки зрения маркетологов.

1. Потому что Ринга старым фанам знаком очень хорошо. Прежними поп-шлягерами их не купишь. Им нужен неожиданный и творческий Ринга, а представленные песни никак этого не раскрывают.

2. Молодежи тоже интересен свежий ракурс (и у Ринги есть что поискать), а не сомнительные поп-песни вроде Wrack My Brain.

3. Получилось, что это и не сборник хитов, и не антология, и не тематический сборник. Из "новых" песен - только перепетая хелповская.

4. Еще и с песнями Маккартни странная история, как будто его и не было все эти годы, хотя кто как не Пол работал над Рингой и его сольными пластинками?

Номер 19 - согласен.

Насчет остальных номеров, отмеченных в серии "А это не совсем понял", я уже не понял вас.

Ringo Starr's new CD, “Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr,” hits store shelves Aug. 28.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - Forget “When I’m 64.” Ringo Starr has that age in his rearview mirror.

But the 67-year-old ex-Beatle still has the musical drive and looks of a rock ’n’ roller half his age. And he acts it, too.

Seated recently in a swank hotel room in Beverly Hills, Starr looked slender in a blazer and slim-fit jeans flecked with blue pen scratches (his own scribblings, he disclosed).

His customary shades only left his face once, exchanged for a tinted pair of glasses. For the past 20 years, Starr’s eyes have remained well hidden, symbolic of his rock-star cool.

“Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr” — culled from his solo career and label-spanning collection of tunes from 1970-2005 — arrives in CD racks Aug. 28. Between sips of water, Starr cracked jokes and chatted with The Associated Press about aging, the past and staying in the game.

AP: How did you pick the songs for the new album?

Starr: Actually, we had a set of tracks we could use, going back to Capitol in the early days. What was great was Capitol/EMI expanded it, which they don’t usually do. Usually the label only uses tunes from the label. They actually went and got tracks off 2005’s “Choose Love” CD, off different labels. It’s a great representation of the stuff I’ve done.

AP: Any favorites in particular? The “No-No Song,” from 1974, was so facetious about hard partying.

Starr: I have great memories of when we recorded that, because the last thing any of us were doing was saying “no” in those days. Things have changed, of course. “Photograph” is beautiful. That’s one of the best songs I’ve ever written. I was writing it with George Harrison, so that also helped. In those days, and still to this day, I only play three chords. I’d write these songs, and then I’d give them to George and he would put in 10 more chords, and they’d think I was the genius.

AP: Which three chords? Slide show

Starr: I can only play guitar in E, and I can only play piano in C. Everything I’ve ever written, if I play it on guitar I make it in E and if I play it on piano, I do it in C. “Photograph” was actually written because George made me play C. It’s so hard, you have to get that little finger over.

AP: So, Ringo, you’re 67 this summer.

Starr: You’ll have to speak up (laughs).

AP: And it was also the 40th anniversary of the Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.”

Starr: How great!

AP: How does that feel, to go from that album to where you are now?

Starr: When you’re making it you don’t think of “now.” That’s the deal. Forty years later, did I think I would be talking about this record? No. It was the last thought in anybody’s mind, that we were making these records that were going forever. We were just enjoying the part of making records.

AP: Reflect, if you would, on aging as a musician. You’ve mentioned in interviews seeing Bob Dylan perform, and some days he’s clear, and some days he’s not.

Starr: That’s just how he is. We were actually talking about going to see Bob, and seeing Bob many times, and you get what Bob gives you. The last time I saw him, it was hard to recognize the songs. But the time before, he was clear as a bell. Bob is great. He just had a No. 1 record and that’s what it’s about.

I’m in the game, I’m still making records, I’m still playing. Maybe tomorrow, a hit, who knows. I haven’t had a hit in a long time. It could be the next CD, who knows. We’re in it to play.

AP: Has the creative process changed?

Starr: It hasn’t changed at all. You write your songs, you play your drums. You get some friends around, and you make a record. ... They would like me to make a duets album, like Santana did. Nothing against it, but that’s what he did and it was a huge thing. I don’t really want to do that. I have a lot of guests on my CDs anyway, like Chrissie Hynde and Willie Nelson.

AP: Any acting roles on the horizon?

Starr: I used to have a thing for acting. It’s been quite a while now, and I’ve decided there’s enough actors, they can do it. I started to refocus more on the music. ... I can’t commit that far in the future now (for TV or movie roles). Call me in 2010, see if I’m free. I live day to day, have a good life.

AP: When are you touring again?

Starr: When we go on tour — and who will go with me, I don’t know yet — it won’t be until next summer. I have this record coming out now, and a 5.1 version of “Choose Love” and 2003’s “Ringo Rama,” and I’ve finished my new CD, which will be out in January.

AP: There’s been a story, for years, that you used to put a packet of cigarettes on your drum snare to muffle its sound. What was that about?

Starr: It was too bright. I’ve always liked a deep sound, and so I put my pack of cigarettes on it, to take it down a notch. Then I started putting tea towels on top of everything. Then I put towels on every drum. I gave it that deeper quality.

AP: You can use the towels to wipe off sweat, too.

Starr: Oh yes, I can! And have a cigarette after. But no, I don’t do that anymore.

Похоже, всем по фигу. А этот альбом занял в Англии 26 место в хит-параде! Я рад от души. Впервые за 33 года. Ура!!!

А если серьезно... Мне лично откровенно сама подборка не нравится. Ну хоть ты тресни - не нравится. Ни аудио, ни видио. Я его в руках в "легионе" повертел-повертел, да и пошел чего-то другого себе накупил. Со временем преобрету скорее всего, но пока зуда по поводу этого издания нет. Все же Ринго для меня это не Пол и не Стоунз, чтобы автоматов покупать каждый следующий релиз. При всей огромной симпатии :)

Пока в продаже не искал. Мне такой аудио-сборник совершенно не нужен - бездарно составлен. Но буду брать из-за ДВД-диска. Или подожду, пока пираты отпиратят по отдельности.
