ROCK LEGENDS AUCTION
Rare Beatles memorabilia is up for auction in London tonight.
The lots include reel-to-reel tapes of a radio interview given in New York by John Lennon and Yoko Ono shortly after The Beatles split. Other items for sale in the Rock Legends auction include a purple guitar custom-built for Prince and a shirt signed by Elvis Presley. The Lennon interview has a reserve price of £10,000. Another highlight - a collection of early photographs of The Beatles by Liverpudlian photographer Dick Matthews, including group's first concert in the south of England, shortly before they were discovered by Brian Epstein.
The Rock Legends auction takes place at the Cobden Club in Kensal Rise, at 7pm.
Other lots of interest include a cover for the album ‘News of the World’ signed by Freddie Mercury, a selection of limited edition, officially endorsed reproductions of classic Rolling Stones concert posters with facsimile autographs of the band, limited edition prints of Bruce ‘The Boss’ Springsteen signed by photographer Phil Ceccola, a presentation award signed by Eric Clapton, a guitar signed by Pete Townshend of the Who and for all you moshers out there a cymbal signed by Iron Maiden.
