If you have a song title that you didn't find on this list, make sure to use the
"Find" or "Search" feature of your browser/editor, and search for the title first.

If you found a "rare" Nirvana song on Napster, go to the NFC FAQ for more info and
to check whether this track is on our list of fakes (it will more than likely be!)
Not all the fakes (mostly from Napster) are listed here. Look in the NFC FAQ instead.

Again: The main purpose of this guide is to merely list the titles of all Nirvana's
songs, and the false titles they have been given by bootleggers and other traders.
It is not a guide for detailed information about the rare songs. The rarities are
only described very briefly in this guide, some in more detail. Guides with more
details on some of these songs should be available on other Nirvana websites.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Bureaucratic Desire For Revenge Part 1 (By the band "Earth" with Kurt on Guitar. From an EP called "Extra-Capsular Extraction", released 10/91)
A Bureaucratic Desire For Revenge Part 2 (By the band "Earth" with Kurt on Guitar. From an EP called "Extra-Capsular Extraction", released 10/91)
About a girl / Queer!
Adorn / Lemon Song / White, Lace and Strange / Laminated Effect / White Lace and Strange (From the 04/17/87 KAOS Radio show. Thunder and Roses cover, off an album called "King of the Black Sunrise". Correct title is "White Lace and Strange". Floating on Napster as "Laminated Effect")
Aero Zeppelin / Zero Zeppelin
Ain't it a shame (Kurt on lead vocals with Mark Lanegan, 1989. Has not surfaced. Recorded in Seattle on 8/89)
All along the watchtower (Kurt apparently did a cover of the guitar riff from this song, originally by Bob Dylan. If this is the jam from LTSO, it is a different song)
All apologies / What else could I be / Mary / All Progressive
All you need is love (Beatles cover. Krist sings a blurb of this at the 1/20/90 show in between songs)
Aneurysm / Aneurism / Come on over / Any Rithm / Come on over and do the twist / Ancurysm
Anorexorcist / Run, Rabbit, Run / Raunchola / Suicide Samurai (Performed at the 01/23/88 and 04/17/87 shows. Real title should indeed be "Anorexorcist". "Run, Rabbit, Run" is a different song, as is "Raunchola")
Another One Bites The Dust (Queen Cover, jammed on 10/10/91 in Cleveland, OH)
Anywhere But Here / Determined (With Kurt, Courtney, Kristen Pfaff and Patty. From Rio 1/93 - possibly 1/22/93. The 'wav' file of this song that surfaced was apparently fake)
Asking for it / Live Through This / Ask for it (Hole with Kurt on backing vocals, 1993. Available on the "Outcesticide V" and "Love Buzz" bootlegs)
Asshole / Loser / Why I'm Here (Some people have been claiming that Kurt is singing on this track. He is NOT. It doesn't appear to be an Oleander song either. Original artist unknown.)
At a Crawl (Performed live once. Date unknown. I don't think it has surfaced)
Baba O' Riley (The Who cover. Performed by Nirvana on 12/07/91)
Bad Moon Rising (See Note #1)
Bambi Slaughter / Bambi Kill / Bambie Kill (From a 1988 demo. Also recorded for the FMD. Available on "Outcesticide IV". Apparently Dale Crover noted that 'Bambi Kill' was not the correct title of this song. Real title is unknown.)
Barney vs. Slash (Just a short jam from beginning of 10/31/93 Akron, OH show)
Bass Solo / Instrumental Improvisation (Performed at various shows, ie. at 10/30/92)
Beans / Beans & Wine (This 'song' has been confirmed by Chad Channing to be authentic. There are three edits of the song; some include an intro with someone saying "I don't like you - I'm gonna beat you up" etc.)
Been a son / She should, been a son / In the sun /

Note #1:
Bad Moon Rising: a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival,
performed at early 1987 and 1988 shows. It appears on a setlist
in Come As You Are. Performed under the band name "The Sellouts".
Unfortunately a recording of Nirvana doing this song is unsurfaced.
Though, apparently the song was jammed at 11/9/89 after 'Swap Meet'

Note #2:
Fountain Soda: before "Muddy Banks" was released, there was rumor
that a new Nirvana double-CD set was going to come

out under the title out under the title
"Cookie", and this was to be a song on it. From Brian; "It had been heard
that one song from Hole's unplugged show was one of three (I might be off
on the number) Kurt wrote/recorded in the last days before his death. The
rumor that this song was also done by Nirvana was based solely on conjecture
as to which Hole song it was."

Note #3:
Run, Rabbit, Run: This song was played at 12/21/88 Hoquiam, WA and should
indeed be the Smack cover. It was most likely only performed live this one time.

Note #4:
Raunchola: This song was played at the 01/23/88 Tacoma, WA show. Also called
'Run, Rabbit, Run' by bootleggers. Run, Rabbit, Run - a Smack Cover - was really
performed at 12/21/88 and is not this song; the song that was performed during
the end of 01/23/88 is most likely not called "Raunchola" either. The real title
is unknown. The song is followed by a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic "Moby Dick",
finishing off the show. This mysterious track was most likely only performed at this
show. This Tacoma show recently surfaced on video. Real date could be 12/14/87.

Note #5:
I Wanna Be Your Dog: Nirvana covered this song by the Stooges. Tyler and Eric noted
that 'Confusion is sex' has nothing to do with "I wanna be your dog", however this
Sonic Youth CD does contain a cover of that Stooges song in the end of 'Freezer Burn'.

Note #6:
In His Hands/Verse Chorus Verse: After months of debates and arguments, it should have
been established that this song - performed at the 4/17/91, 11/25/90 and 8/17/90 shows -
is in fact called "Verse Chorus Verse". This title is printed on an authentic setlist for
4/17/91 and the title was more or less confirmed by Krist N. to be the one of this song.
This song is usually mislabeled as "In his Hands" or "In his Room" on commercial bootlegs.

Note #7:
Sappy: This song is available on the "No Alternative" compilation and was recorded a
couple of times in the studio. It was also performed live many times. Some believe it
changed name to "Verse Chorus Verse" at some point, but this is unlikely considering
that the song - mentioned above - already uses this title. The song has been given
a host of different names as you can see in the list above. However, Krist Novoselic
confirmed that "Sappy" was the correct name of the song from the "No Alternative" CD.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nirvana have also made demo versions, live versions, acoustic versions,
mixed versions, jams (etc.) of some of the songs. Even some of the songs
above were only played live, and the live version is then listed above.
Other bands have also covered some of the songs. Remember that some of the
Nirvana members have also played in other groups, obviously songs produced
by those groups are not listed here. If you didn't find the song you were
looking for on this list, please e-mail me on the following E-mail address:
webmaster@nirvanaclub.com - and I'll add it soon. If you use this document
on your own web page, please leave it as it were originally, or e-mail me if
you wish to make changes or inquire about something related to the song list.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nirvana played some of the songs & jams above, using the following band names:

Fecal Matter
Brown Cow / Brown Towel
Stiff Woodies
The Sellouts [A Creedence Clearwater Revival cover band]
Skid Row
Ted, Ed, Fred
Bliss
Throat Oyster
Pen Cap Chew
Windowpane
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Contributers to the list: Jeremy, Nick Chester, Jack Endino, Dave Labentowicz,
Gnopi@aol.com, Christian Pedersen, Joe Hubbard, DRuMa, Chad Channing, Gayle
Rogers, Eric San Juan, Rui Magalhгes, Brian and others. Also the 'Come As You Are' book.
