ORBISON AND HARRISON'S WIVES TEAM UP

The widows of late rock legends ROY ORBISON and GEORGE HARRISON have teamed up to release a series of lost recordings their husbands made as part of 1980s supergroup THE TRAVELING WILBURYS.

Orbison and Harrison teamed up with TOM PETTY, BOB DYLAN and JEFF LYNNE to record hits like END OF THE LINE and HANDLE WITH CARE, and many fans thought the group died when Orbison passed away in 1988.

But now, Orbison's widow BARBARA and Harrison's wife OLIVIA are planning to release recordings that have been out of circulation for nearly a decade, with a few rare cuts.

Barbara Orbison says, "You can listen to it and it is just like boys having fun together. You can really feel the absence of any business stresses. They are having a good time. There's the excitement of being in a band called The Traveling Wilburys.

"It was a special moment in time. It brought out the best in all of them."

Orbison has been working on a Traveling Wilburys video set that she hopes to release by the end of the year (04).

Tom Petty, one of the Travelling Wilburys, has broken silence on the rumours circulating America that Byrds front person Roger McGuinn could be the replacement for the late Roy Orbison in the band.
‘says that it might happen, but only if the Wilburys do continue.
“Roger’s great” he said. “There are so many people that are honorary Wilburys, anyway. I’m sure we all look at Roger as Wilbury.”
“But as to who’s gonna fill in for Roy. I hear all these rumours and read ‘em in the paper just like you. I don’t know, and neither do any of the Wilburys.
“I don’t think there’s ever been a conversation about that but once – remember the four of us in a room talking about it, and so many names came up that we left the meeting just undecided.”
Instead of a permanent replacement for Roy, how about the next LP features half a dozen of these ‘honorary Wilburys’ guesting on two tracks?
“Or change the name of the group and just a whole different thing” Petty offers.
According to Petty, the speculation as to who will be the new Wilbury depends on whether there’ll be a second album.
We just don’t know he explains. “I think we have a lot to decide there. Right now it’s on the backburner. When Roy died it kinda took the wind out of our sails, you know. That’s an understatement but it really did. We’d made plans to do so many things and then that just…
“He was such an important part of the group, too. I know Jeff doesn’t see how we could possibly continue with Roy gone. And some of us think maybe we could. But there’s just no hurry really, right now, to get it together.”
Some of the Travelling Wilburys are working on solo projects for the time being.
Petty has a solo album called Full Moon Fever out in America this week and is currently shooting a video in London for the first single. He’s also been writing songs with the Heartbreakers for a possible US tour in a few months. (The other members the keyboardsplayer Benmont Tench have been guesting on records by Roy Orbison and Elvis Costello, drummer Stan Lynch is helping Don Henley record his next, and bassist Howie Epstein is in Nashville producing the next LP by Carlene Carter).
Jeff Lynne is also to work on a solo LP.
Jeff and Tom have also done some production work together. One is a single for Del Shannon, which came about after Shannon rang up Lynne whinging that he wanted to get back in the charts just like Gene Pitney and Orbison. They’ll also collaborate on a record by veteran hornsman Jim Horn.

Обожаю "Not Alone Anymore" и "Heartbreak Radio". Рой Орбисон круче всех!

Вот, случайно нашел, посмотрел диск с домашними съемками. Забаваное было ощущение - как будто Уилбериз прямо со мной сидят, пиво попивают, музыку слушают. Кто, интересно, снимал? А группа клевая, из конца 80-начала 90-х практически единственная, которую могу слушать. Называются такие вещи обычно "супергруппами", но к Уилбериз это определение ну никак не подходит - настолько все смешно, отвязно и непафосно.

Поняти супергруппа подразумевает не то, что это какая-то СУПЕР, сверххорошая группа, а то, что ее музыканты ранее играли в других известных группах. Хотя, на мой взгляд как раз к Traveling Wilburys понятие "супер" подходит без всякого пафоса.
А снимал это кто-то из своих, иначе бы небыло таких душевных кадров.

А снимал все это их барабанщик Джим Келтнер (Jim Keltner) - там же есть кадры, когда он ходит с камерой и снимает себя в зеркало.

Не только он, так как есть и кадры, где он работает за ударной установкой.
Вообще-то, судя по всему, там много народу крутилось, кроме Wilburys.

Я имел ввиду, что Келтнер снимал ту тусовку, где Джордж пьет пиво и смотрит видео.

Вопрос потому и возник, что в других кадрах есть сам барабанщик. В кадре, помнится, всегда только Дилана не хватает. Но не такой он человек, мне кажется, чтобы видео на память снимать?

Помнится, обещали ремастеры в конце 2005 года... Ну дай Бог, сделают в 2006-м.

Лишь бы сделали.
Линн тоже много чего обещает, только ждать приходится годами

Для меня группа скучновата. Хоть кой-чево нравится. Вот например Inside Out, Wilbury Twist, New Blue Moon, чуть меньше She's My Baby.

Сообщается, что в производстве находится документальный DVD о сессиях группы.

Администраторы, быть может есть смысл перенести эту тему в "Music General"? А то с "Beatles" у TW общего только разве что Джордж Харрисон и "Nowbody's Child".
Честно сказать, я слегка обалдел, когда обнаружил эту тему здесь.

Понимаю и в какой то степени разделяю эти чутства, но одно лишь то, что в TW играл Харрисон, автоматически переносит тему в LLT.
