This is the CD I’ve had head in my head for a while. With You & Me, we are trying something different, trying to extend the boundaries of traditional blues. In essence, we wanted to do our part in helping to redefine the sound of modern blues music.

Bonamassa delivers all the excitement and power of his electrifying live performances while mixing it up with dynamic music choices; from hard to soft, electric to acoustic, a music roller coaster seldom achieved by recording artists today.
You & Me also marks the debut collaboration of Bonamassa and producer Kevin Shirley (Led Zeppelin, The Black Crowes, Aerosmith, Joe Satriani). Says South African-born Shirley: "When I was approached to work with Joe, I already knew he was an awesome talent, but I also knew I’d want to do something a little different from a straight blues album. There are a lot of very good blues players performing copycat versions of classics. I wanted more of a rock sound, and I wanted Joe to showcase his depth and versatility; his vocals as well as his incredible guitar playing."

Highlights include: "Asking Around For You," a classy, poignant bluesy ballad a la Ray Charles; "Django," a Jeff Beck-flavored tribute to Django Reinhardt; "High Water Everywhere," a grungy, Delta blues tribute to the recently devastated city of New Orleans; "So Many Roads," a blues classic made famous by legend Otis Rush; and "Tea For One," a lesser known Led Zeppelin song which has been embellished with full orchestra – featuring Jason Bonham on drums.

This son of the legendary Mississippi blues giant doesn't have his father's aura of brooding mystery, raw baritone voice, or choogling guitar style, yet he is an original nevertheless. On the follow-up to his 2004 Grammy-nominated Blues with a Vengeance, the laconic singer and lyricist mixes straight-up Chicago blues and smooth Southern soul with flourishes of funk and contemporary R&B. He's not an outright modernist; the traditional rhythms and horn charts see to that. Nonetheless, in the medley "Four Hours Straight/Blues Man" and "Got to Be Me," Hooker's nearly rapping. And references to text messaging and the couplet "her sexual modus operandi was that of a freak / it was so addictive it would make you tweak" could work for OutKast. Of course, there are nods to his father, like the touching reminiscence "Do Daddy (Requiem for John Lee Hooker)" and a lackluster reading of his "In the Mood." But the junior Hooker seems determined to make a name for himself, rather than merely capitalize on Dad's.

Les Paul's 91st Birthday at the Iridium Jazz Club

The Iridium Jazz Club, the long-time home of guitar pioneer Les Paul, announced Les Paul's 91st Birthday Celebration Monday, June 12th, 2006. Les will be taking the stage with his regular working band, Lou Pallo-guitar, Nicky Parrott-bass, and John Colliani-piano for two sets at 8:30 and 10:30 PM. The five-time Grammy Award winner (Les won two Grammy's this year for his chart-topping Capitol CD "American Made World Played") and was also celebrated with a gala concert in his honor by music stars Slash, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Alison Krauss, Steve Lukather, Joe Perry, Joe Satriani, Neal Schon, Shayna Steele, Buddy Guy, and Edgar Winter.

Les Paul, the father of the electric guitar, was born June 9, 1915, in Waukesha, WI. The five-time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer is the inventor of the solid body electric guitar and the pioneer of multi-track recording, the use of reverb and other now-standard recording techniques.

Paul was honored throughout his 90th year with an array of new product releases, honors and awards fit for the father of the electric guitar. In addition to Les Paul & Friends: American Made World Played, Capitol/EMI released Les Paul with Mary Ford: The Best of The Capitol Masters (90th Birthday Edition), a collection of Paul's finest Capitol recordings, with new artwork, bonus tracks and a package essay written by Paul himself. Last May, Paul was inducted into the National Inventors' Hall Of Fame at the Hall's Akron, OH headquarters. On June 9, 2005 the evening of Paul's 90th birthday, he was honored with the Songwriters' Hall Of Fame Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award. On June 19, an all-star group of guitarists took the Carnegie Hall stage for "All For Paul: Les Paul's 90th Birthday Salute, " a star-studded celebration presented by Gibson Guitar at the JVC Jazz Festival - New York. In addition, two new Les Paul books have been released: The Les Paul Legacy by Rob Lawrence (Hal Leonard Publishing) and Les Paul In His Own Words, a limited edition autobiography with each numbered copy signed by Paul (Russ Cochran Publishing). Guitarists around the world favor Les Paul's signature line of Gibson guitars, which debuted in 1952.

Хороший ремастеринг. Замечательная чувственная певица. Если охарактеризовать одним словосочетанием, то "Блюзовые баллады". При фсей девальвированности фразы, ыменно так.
Рекомендую.

два новых релиза сегодня отслушал. Dr.John: Mercernary(2006) в целом понравился. Я от последних (и не только) записей Доктора кайфую в любом случае - так все сыграно классно. Песни у Мерсера хорошие, вокал тут такой в самый раз. Come Rain or Come Shine столько раз уже слышал в разном исполнении - и тут хорошо получилось. второй - Charlie Musselwhite: Delta Hardware(2006) - тут еще разбираться нужно, потому что с первого прослушивания мне это показалось блюзовой молотиловкой (да, очень белой), поэтому, раз послушав, я включил Джеймса Коттона, где все намного правильнее.

Ребята, а никто не знает, как точно называется концерт Би Би Кинга с участием таких звезд как Фил Коллинз, Альберт Кинг, Этта Джеймс, Глэдис Найт, СРВ... все в одном флаконе, название типа ББ Кинг - The... Session.
