Самой популярной песней в исполнении этого певца и пианиста была Blueberry Hills. Эту же песню исполнял Луи Армстронг. НО в джазовой импровизации.
Толстяк Домино сделал ее почти рок н роллом. Скончался кажется в 1978 году. Имею хорошии сборник песен Фэтса. Двойной винил и еще кое что.
Домино часто считают человеком, который внёс лепту в создании рок н рола.

Я в Битлолвской антологии читал, что он очень сильно на них повлиял (особенно на Джорджа и Пола)Кстати превая песня, которую выучил Джордж была его песня "I'm in love again" Когда Битлы стали знаменитыми, они захотели с ним встретится, в антологии даже фотка есть...

Fats Domino Rescued In New Orleans

Rock legend Fats Domino has been rescued in New Orleans, days after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city. According to reports, Domino is now safe but his precise whereabouts are unknown.

The artist's longtime agent, Al Embry said he hadn't been able to contact Domino since talking to him Sunday evening by phone.

The 77-year-old artist, whose real name is Antoine Domino, told Embry that he planned to stay at his New Orleans house with his wife, Rosemary, and their daughter.

"I hope somebody turns him up, but as of right now, we haven't got anybody that knows where he's at," said Embry, who has worked with Domino for 28 years. "I would think he might be safe because somebody said he was on top of the balcony."

Checquoline Davis, Domino's niece, posted a message on Craigslist.com today pleading for information. Davis wrote that Domino, his wife, their children and grandchildren "didn't get out" of the second floor.

Domino, who has rarely appeared in public in recent years, has a home in the 9th ward, a low-lying area of the flooded city. Getting information on possible missing persons has been nearly impossible as phone lines for hospitals and police haven't been working.

Domino is best known for the legendary singles "Blueberry Hill" and "Ain't That a Shame,” and his 1950 recording of "The Fat Man" has often been called the first real rock'n'roll record.

FATS DOMINO has revealed that he has “lost everything” in the wake of HURRICANE KATRINA.

The blues legend, who was reported missing in the aftermath of the natural disaster, was among those who chose not to leave the stricken New Orleans.

He is said to have spent the last few days at a friend’s apartment in Baton Rouge.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Domino said: “We've lost everything.”

He added: “I'm worried about all the people of New Orleans. Tell them I love them, and I wish I was home with them. I hope we'll see them soon."

Friends and relatives of the star were concerned about his whereabouts until Thursday evening (September 1) when one of his daughters, Karen Domino White, recognised him in a picture published by the New Orleans Times-Picayune, his agent Al Embry said.

The photograph showed a man resembling the pianist being helped out of a rescue boat.

His whereabouts remained unclear until Friday (September 2), although Domino was rescued from his home on Monday (August 29).

Domino has sold more than 110 million records, and is famous for such tracks as ’Blueberry Hill’ and ’Ain’t That A Shame’.

More than one million people were reported to have been evacuated from New Orleans and its surrounding areas before Hurricane Katrina struck.

Mayor Ray Nagin has estimated that up to 100,000 people remain in the city.

Fats Domino Finds Big Easy Home in Ruins Sun Oct 16

NEW ORLEANS - Visiting his home for the first time since he was rescued from rising floodwaters in a boat, Fats Domino found his piano overturned among mud and debris and his house in ruins.

Despite the destruction, the 77-year-old legendary musician found a few bright spots during last week's tour, arranged by WWL-TV: a favorite shirt that survived unblemished and a bust that made it through the storm unbroken.

Those were the exceptions. His electric keyboard sat against a wall covered in dried mud, mildew and mold, and his white grand piano was overturned, broken and stained with the filth that flowed into the Lower Ninth Ward along with the floodwaters.

The water reached well over 8 feet, brushing the bottoms of chandeliers inside the home, WWL-TV reported.

Domino's fate was not publicly known for several days after the Hurricane Katrina-spawned floods hit the low-lying neighborhood. He was rescued in a boat along with other family members from an upper-floor balcony.

The side of the balcony was spray-painted with a premature farewell when it was feared Domino had not survived. "R.I.P. Fats. You will be missed."

Domino's house was a mansion of pink, yellow and lavender decorated with such touches as his "Cadillac couch," resembling the rear of a 1950s car. The room was left in shambles.

FATS DOMINO RELEASES NEW ALBUM FOR KATRINA AID

Fats Domino is back with his first new album since 1993. Domino, who had massive property damage and was displaced in the wake of Hurricane Katrina is donating all the proceeds from his new Alive And Kicking album to charity. The New York Times reported that the disc will benefit the Tipitina's Foundation, which is aiding New Orleans musicians with anything from Internet set-ups to musical instruments to actual medical care. Domino says that while he was waiting to be rescued from his home in the Lower Ninth Ward he never really panicked, explaining that, "I wasn't too nervous. I had my little wine and a couple of beers with me; I'm all right."

Domino has relocated for the time being to Harvey, Louisiana: "As long as I'm in New Orleans, I'm not away from home. Everything's gonna be all right, I think." He says that he has no plans on relocating to other cities as many other musicians have adding that, " I know I'm not leavin'. I ain't going nowhere."

Domino's Alive And Kicking features 13 new tracks -- including a remake of "The Fatman's" 1955 Top Ten hit, "Ain't That A Shame." The disc is available exclusively through the tipitinasfoundation.org website.

Fats Domino will be performing next at the New Orleans Jazz amp; Heritage Festival during the fest's first weekend, taking place from April 28th through the 30th.

If there's a living, breathing symbol of all that makes New Orleans great and unique, it's Antoine "Fats" Domino. His debut million-selling 1949 single, "The Fat Man" (from which he gained his nickname) is considered by many to be the first rock & roll record ever recorded. That alone would have earned the then 21 year-old a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. But it was the beginning of his partnership with New Orleans trumpeter / producer / collaborator / bandleader Dave Bartholomew that made Fats the second largest-selling rock & roll star of the 50's and early-60's, behind only Elvis. He had an amazing 35 Top-40 singles from 1955 through 1963, on his way to selling more than 65 million records. His instantly recognized classics include "Ain't That a Shame", "Blueberry Hill", "Walking to New Orleans", "Whole Lotta Loving", "I'm Walking", "Blue Monday" and "I'm In Love Again", among others. Fats' boogie-woogie piano playing and down-home vocals were nurtured by the music surrounding him in New Orleans that contained elements of rock & roll long before Fats pulled them all together. His influence is such that Lennon/McCartney wrote Lady Madonna as an homage to his piano style; Fats returned the favor by covering it in 1968, and it became a Top 40 hit. Fats has remained true to his roots and his style, changing neither since he broke onto the scene 57 years ago. By the 1980's Fats stopped touring because he couldn't find any food he liked outside New Orleans. (Who could disagree?) He didn't even attend his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or play at the invitation of the White House. Fortunately, he plays the Jazz Fest every few years and 2006 is one of those blessed cycles. His originality, musicianship, showmanship, power and vigor have not diminished. He changed the nature of music by bringing New Orleans-style R&B to the world and is himself a force of nature proving that Katrina can't change the soul of the City.

Collectors of this poster series know the name Michalopoulos very well. Acclaimed as the premier artist of and in New Orleans, his studies of the architecture and people that make the City unique are remarkable for their technical prowess and for their emotional verity. His iconic Jazz Fest series has defined legends in compelling works of definitive visual mastery. His 1998 portrait of Dr. John is a recognized classic and his 2001 portrait of Louis Armstrong remains the most sought-after (and valuable) print produced in this series in over a decade. Michalopoulos' portrait of Fats will be equally embraced. With a richly-colored sampling of the graceful buildings that line the old city drawing the viewer's eye towards an improbably balanced Fats pounding and tickling his piano into submission, this work sums up the man, his city, its music and their place in our hearts. HARVEY, La. - Sitting at a keyboard in the bedroom of his post-Katrina home in this New Orleans suburb, a smiling Fats Domino joked, laughed and tenderly sang to a handful of close friends.

"Never thought my heart could be so yearny ... Gotta take that sentimental journey, sentimental journey home," he sang Thursday afternoon, swaying gently as longtime friend Herbert Hardesty, who's shared the stage with Domino for 50-plus years, chimed in.

Though Hardesty has been playing his saxophone at gigs with other musicians since Hurricane Katrina, including New Orleans bluesman Dr. John, he couldn't wait to reunite with Domino for Sunday's closing of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

Domino, too, is excited — even nervous — about his first performance since Katrina struck last August.

"I'm ready," said the 78-year-old Hall of Fame performer, chuckling as he joked about the possibility of passing out on stage. "God gave me the gift ... Yeah, I'm ready to play."

In his spacious new home in a gated community, Domino seemed most comfortable in his bedroom. Though large with high ceilings and filled mostly with new furniture, the room had personal touches and a cozy feel. Friends plopped on his king-size, four-poster bed, the sheets and blankets unmade.

"Herb's making me a book," Domino said, noting that Hardesty has photos of Domino with Nat "King" Cole and other celebrities — treasures to a man who's experienced so much loss.

The Mississippi River now divides Domino's newfound home from the one he was forced to flee when Katrina flooded 80 percent of the city. He lived for a time in a New Orleans hotel. Harvey isn't home, Domino says, but "it's close enough."

As he chatted with friends — among them Hardesty, Hardesty's wife and daughter Adonica Domino, one of his eight children — Domino pointed out the few pieces of salvaged furniture among the new, including chairs that surrounded an upstairs bar in the Ninth Ward home he shared with his wife of almost 60 years, Rosemary. They'd lived in the house since 1960.

Noticeably thinner since being evacuated from the house, Domino said the past few months haven't been easy. He's still trying to get situated in his new home, still moving furniture around.

In one room sits a black baby grand donated by the Baldwin piano company. The walls are empty except for two framed gold records — one for "Rosemary," the other for "Blue Monday." The records were refurbished by the Louisiana State Museum. Another 23 gold records and eight platinum records are being reissued to replace the ones destroyed in the flood.

Domino's classic New Orleans R&B sound and relaxed piano style led him to sell more records than any other black musician of the 1950s. His long list of national hits, mostly spanning from the mid '50s to the early '60s, includes "Ain't That a Shame," "Blueberry Hill," "Whole Lotta Loving" and "Blue Monday."

Grounded in his hometown, hits like "Walking to New Orleans" and "Jambalaya" resonate with New Orleans natives. Jazz Fest producer Quint Davis has said he can't think of a better way to close this year's festival than with a performance by Fats.

Sitting at the new piano on a black leather bench, tapping the keys, Domino said it's good to have a piano in the house again. Since being evacuated, he'd been playing on a keyboard he bought while on hiatus in Texas.

"I always had a piano," he said. "All of them sound good to me."

Back in March, a recovery crew with the Louisiana State Museum pulled an electric Wurlitzer keyboard and what was left of his black Steinway baby grand and white Steinway grand from Domino's flooded home. They'll be refurbished and returned to the family, though they may not be playable. For now, Domino is loaning the baby grand to the museum for inclusion in its traveling exhibit about hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The 81-year-old Hardesty, a New Orleans native, has been living in Las Vegas since his home flooded. He and Domino met as teenagers in the mid-1940s and together recorded a number of hits, including "Blue Monday," "I'm Walking," "Ain't That a Shame" and "Let the Four Winds Blow."

"Each song has a meaning, a memory," Hardesty said. "When we get on that stage, we're happy."

Sipping from a bottle of Heineken between songs, Domino lulled friends with emotional verses of "Valley of Tears": "I want you to take me where I belong, where hearts have been broken with a kiss and a song..."

Even as he rehearsed with Hardesty, Domino wouldn't give away Sunday's playlist.

"Whatever comes to me," he said, "that's what I'll play."

Icons from the world of rock, blues, reggae, pop and country music have joined together to salute the genius of legendary piano man FATS DOMINO for the upcoming double CD set, Goin Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino.

Goin Home is set for a September 25th release on Vanguard Records. This stellar tribute to one of the cornerstones of rock n roll music will help raise desperately needed funds specifically earmarked for instruments to be donated to New Orleans public school children.

Monies raised from the sales of Goin Home will also go toward the rebuilding of Fats Domino s home and to create a community center in the Crescent City s still ravaged Lower 9th Ward. Proceeds of Goin Home will fund additional community related programs.

The Tipitina s Foundation, a 501 ©(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to preserving the cultural legacy of New Orleans through music education for the youth and providing programs that support working musicians of New Orleans and the Gulf Region, conceived and executive produced Goin Home.
