STELLA LOOKS FOR PRIVATE SCHOOL



STELLA McCARTNEY has already begun searching for a private school for her two-month-old son MILLER.

The designer criticised her parents, former BEATLE SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and his late wife LINDA, after they sent her to a state school in East Sussex, England.

And she seems determined to make sure her offspring - her first child with husband of two years ALASDHAIR WILLIS - doesn't suffer the same hardship.

The couple were conspicuous guests at an open day for parents of prospective pupils at London's popular private Notting Hill Preparatory School yesterday (03MAY05).

The McCartneys went out of their way to send Stella and her siblings JAMES and MARY to Thomas Peacocke comprehensive school, near her family's estate in Peasmarsh, to keep their feet on the ground and give them the chance to mix with ordinary children.

But, during an interview in 2002, the GUCCI designer said of her time at the school, "I didn't go around thinking what benefits there are for me going to a comprehensive. But I could look after myself. I was a bully for a while."

Two of the fashion industry's most glamorous mums got to share a "baby appreciation" moment together when they ran into each other in trendy Notting Hill this week. Kate Moss, whose daughter Lila Grace is now two years old, showed she was an old hand at motherhood as she dandled Stella McCartney's son Miller on her knee after running into her fellow style icon at a fashionable cafe.

Kate was just about to leave the Tea Palace when she saw Stella arriving with two-month-old Miller in a push chair. Needless to say, the Chanel model decided to stick around for a few minutes so she could have a chat with her old friend. And she may well have offered some useful baby tips to the designer.

PARIS, March 2, 2006 – Stella McCartney has had a lot on her plate this past year. New baby, a smash-hit gig for H&M, and a line of attention-grabbing activewear for Adidas. Well done for all that—but has she had enough in reserve to concentrate on her own brand? Her collection didn't really look like it. What she showed—big cocoon cardigans with sloppy collars, skimpy printed jersey dresses, mixed with A-line smocks and swing coats—lacked the stylistic grip and polish expected from a player in the premier league of Parisian fashion. Granted, something in their sixties/eighties spirit glanced in the right direction, but the focus seemed fuzzy.

The presentation took place in the pompous surroundings of the gilded salon of the Grand Hotel, a habitat perennially associated with the rarefied métier of haute couture showings. Maybe that was a policy choice intended to separate her top line from other things she's doing, but you can't help thinking there are bolder strategies, beyond selection of venue, that could be used to leverage the equity behind brand McCartney. In a season when menswear tailoring is so much on the agenda, she could, for instance, have upped the luxe content by celebrating her signature Savile Row pantsuits, whose cut can't be achieved at mass level. Then again, perhaps a better way to go about it would be to turn her collection into a microcosm of the high-low fashion reality that McCartney embodies. What would excite both critics and her fan base alike would be to see her jeans, sporty pieces, and accessible young-girl ideas cut together with edited standouts from her posher top line. The makings are all there in her personality. Perhaps she just needs the time and space to figure it out.

На днях Стелла МакКартни превратилась в персонажа одной из книг "Mr. Men and Little Miss" - культовой серии детских книг, существующей в Великобритании уже более 35 лет.

По сюжету, модный дизайнер Маленькая Мисс Стелла решает помочь Маленькой Мисс Никто, которую окружающие игнорируют. С помощью ослепительного костюма Stella McCartney ей легко удается превратить Мисс Никто в Мисс Кое-Кто.

«Little Miss Stella» была задумана, как приглашение на показ весенне-летней коллекции Stella McCartney 2007, который прошел в парижском Palais de Chaillot. Именно поэтому книга вышла лимитированным тиражом в тысячу экземпляров.

Вместе с дизайнером над книгой работал Эдэм Хэргривз (Adam Hargreaves), сын Роджера Хэргривза, создателя "Mr. Men and Little Miss". Стелла МакКартни стала первым "живым" прототипом для героев серии, которых, на сегодняшний момент, уже более восьмидесяти.

Pregnant and proud, Stella McCartney

With her second child's arrival only weeks away, Stella McCartney is clearly almost bursting with pride.

The fashion designer renowned for her simple, elegant tailoring made a feature of her sizeable bump as she attended an art and design auction with her husband Alasdhair Willis.

She wore a sheer black chiffon top which revealed her stomach to full effect - and in particular her protruding belly-button - along with black leggings.

It was not clear whether the outfit came from her own range.

Stella, 35, is eight months pregnant with a little brother or sister for her 19-month-old son Miller. The designer, whose fashion range is the choice of celebrities including Kate Moss, Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna, arrived at the event hand in hand with her husband of three years.

They left via a rear exit after watching a performance by the Eighties band The Human League.

The designer's early departure reflects medical experts' strict instructions not to over-exert herself.

Last month she was taken to hospital complaining of bleeding and shooting pains in her abdomen.

After being kept in overnight at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, close to the couple's farm, she was sent home and ordered to rest.

Stella was pictured a few days ago being enthusiastically hugged by her father Sir Paul after her show at Paris Fashion Week.

The pair appear to have become closer than ever since he parted from his second wife Heather Mills.

In a clear dig at her stepmother, Stella publicly dedicated the show to 'mum and dad' - Sir Paul and his late wife Linda, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 1998.
