December 03, 2001
With last week's sad passing of "the quiet Beatle," 58-year-old GEORGE HARRISON, a new question arises: What becomes of his estate?
Tonight, estate attorney and celebrity wills expert HERB NASS tells ET just who gets what chunk of Harrison's massive fortune!
"Many entertainers and people of significant wealth include in their wills something called an 'interrorum clause,' which means 'in fright' or 'in terror,'" says Nass, author of Wills of the Rich and Famous. "[It's ]a clause designed to inhibit anyone from contesting the will."
With an estimated net worth of around $300 million at the time of his death from cancer, Harrison left most of his money to wife OLIVIA and 24-year-old son DHANI. According to The New York Post, another parcel of his estate -- as much as 10 percent -- will be given to Hare Krishna causes. Harrison embraced the religious sect in the late 1960s.
Other money will be donated to various British and international charities, including ones that aid children in destitute African nations. Back in the early '70s, Harrison was one of the first artists to organize a relief concert to aid foreign countries in need, beginning with his concert for Bangladesh.
Watch ET tonight as Nass details Harrison's will, and reveals who inherited how much after such celebrities as JFK JR. and FRANK SINATRA passed on!
