Может я немного итальянец... Я не знаю. Эрик записал именно такой альбом, какой хотел. Неужели он в том положении, что ему надо под кого-то подстраиваться? Разве это плохо: умиротворение и домашний уют? Я бы не сказал, если бы я дожил до его лет. Прекрасные вечера перед камином (было б с кем). А кто об этом не мечтает?

Ты прав, как всегда. Я тоже об этом мечтаю. Да и вообще, записывать надо именно то, что ты считаешь нужным, тогда все будет честно!

Я только что прилетел, а уже весь комок нервов. Ни тебе "камина", ни покоя. Эрику только могу позавидовть!

Play it ain’t so, Clapton!

Eric Clapton Back Home (Warner Bros/WEA)

“Say what you will,” croons Eric Clapton at the start of the second track on this album, “good love is hard to find.” It certainly sounds like he’s found it here, with song after song detailing his newlywed life and the times he has with his three young children.

Unfortunately, Clapton is at his best when he’s a little bit hurt. Sounding scrubbed clean – like rock songs that have been re-recorded for children – Clapton’s work on this album is worse than middling. Unless you’re an aging baby boomer who’s just experiencing fatherhood, there’s likely very little here to identify with. But that’s just one of the sins of this album.

Clapton has shown that he can write classic ballads. The acoustic version of Layla comes to mind, as does Wonderful Tonight. But those songs have a tinge of grit, something that’s not quite perfect. Unfortunately, on Back Home, Clapton seems to have solved all of his problems, and he’s left with a soulless bunch of music that couldn’t be more boring if it tried.

Despite Clapton’s vaunted guitar chops, there’s precious little evidence of them on this CD. Returning (sort of) to his blues-rock roots, nothing comes across so much as a sense of laziness on the part of everyone making this album. Although there are a couple of cover songs, by and large this is Clapton’s first album of original material since 2001. Either he should be proud of it, or he should have taken even more time to polish it.

Sure, there are some technically fine moments, and Clapton can certainly afford the best when it comes to recording studios and equipment, but it’s all wasted.

STEVE WINWOOD HAPPY TO REPEAT HIMSELF ON ERIC CLAPTON'S GEORGE HARRISON COVER

Steve Winwood is among the guests on Eric Clapton's new album, Back Home. Winwood, who played with Clapton in the short-lived Sixties supergroup Blind Faith, appears on Clapton's remake of George Harrison's "Love Comes To Everyone," a song he told us he was quite familiar with: "I played on the original George Harrison song, and he (Clapton) wanted me to do very much the same thing I'd done on the George Harrison song. And of course I didn't, I couldn't remember that, really, when he asked me to do that. So I said 'If I can remember what it is, I'd love to.' And I just went into the studio to play it. I was glad to hear he was quite happy with, with it."

"Love Comes To Everyone" first appeared on Harrison's self-titled 1979 album.

Winwood is busy with several upcoming releases of his own. He's supervising a live CD and DVD taken from Traffic's 1994 reunion tour, The Last Traffic Jam, that comes out on Tuesday (September 20th). On November 1st, Winwood's most recent solo album, 2003's About Time, will be reissued as a DualDisc, with three bonus live tracks and concert footage.

Winwood begins a 16-date North American tour on Tuesday in New York City.

Жмем - "A Look at Cream"

Вчера слушал Strange Brew и мысль возникла -- кажись на концерте в New York в помощь пострадавшим 11 сентября Дядя Эрик с каким-то чуваком сыграли блюз с очень похожей темой.. Только там была обычная гармошка,, и слова типа Hey Baby -- It''s All Right..

Этот "чувак" является иконой, для всех околоблюзовых гитаристов.
На твочестве "этого чувака", учились Хендрикс, Клэптон, Блумфилд и еще сотни известных гитаристов.
Пора бы уже ознакомится с его творчеством, тем более если пишем под таким ником...

EC working on autobiography

FROM BLUES TO GREEN

September 16, 2005 -- A representative for blues and rock legend Eric Clapton is said to be quietly sounding out publishers for interest in an autobiography.
Most expect the Slowhand man — named for his penchant to bust guitar strings and re-tune mid-concert — will be on a fast track to a million-dollar deal.
Right now, it is all very quiet and no actual proposal has been produced by literary agent Ed Victor, who is talking up the deal to publishers. Victor did not return calls.
But according to publishing sources with early knowledge of the proposal, the memoir would serve as a unique view of the rock 'n' roll world — told through the eyes of someone who survived at or near the top for 40 years.
A publishing proposal now comes at a most opportune time. Cream, the band Clapton formed with drummer Ginger Baker and bassist Jack Bruce — a trio which sold 35 million albums in its stormy two-year run in the late '60s — will be back for a three-night gig at Madison Square Garden Oct. 24 to 26.
One of Clapton's most critically acclaimed albums, "Layla and other Love Songs," recorded when he was front man for Derek & the Dominos, was universally seen as a thinly disguised paean to Pattie Boyd, at the time still married to ex-Beatle George Harrison, a Clapton pal. Clapton eventually married Boyd after her divorce from Harrison. Boyd and Clapton later split themselves as he battled a series of drug and alcohol addictions.
He knew even more heartache when his young son Conor, whom he had fathered with Italian model girlfriend Lori Del Santo, fell to his death in New York City in 1991.
More recently, Clapton, now married for a second time, claims to have conquered some of the demons that haunted his earlier life and has set up a rehabilitation center in Antigua called Crossroads Center.
He auctioned off some of his guitars to raise money for the center. One prized guitar nicknamed "Brownie," which Clapton used in sessions for "Layla" and countless live performances, was snapped up by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen for $496,000.
