Music publisher Dick James dies of a heart attack. He was 65. He worked with many UK 60's acts including the Beatles.

At the Museum of Modern Art in Oxford, Yoko's art exhibition "Have You Seen The Horizon Lately" is on display.

In Tampa, Florida, the exhibition of Linda's pictures entitled "Sixties" is on display at the Tampa Museum of Art.

US space agency NASA announces that "Across the Universe" by the Beatles is to become the first song ever to be beamed directly into space.

US EP release: "4 By The Beatles" (Capitol R 5365).

Capitol Records released their second and final Beatles EP on this day.
4 By The Beatles had the catalogue number Capitol R-5365, and was released only in mono.

4 By The Beatles EP artwork - USA The EP contained four songs, all from the albums Beatles For Sale (UK) and Beatles '65 (US): Honey Don't, I'm A Loser, Mr Moonlight and Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby.

Capitol had previously issued the similarly-titled EP Four By The Beatles on 11 May 1964. The "4 By" series was intended to showcase four songs by an artist which wouldn't otherwise be issued as singles, although the demand for EPs in the United States proved limited and the idea was soon dropped

Live: Olympia Theatre, Paris

February 1964 was the month that The Beatles conquered America and began the British Invasion. It began, however, just as January ended, with two more shows in Paris for the group's 18-day residency at the Olympia Theatre.

The Beatles' setlist contained eight songs: From Me To You, Roll Over Beethoven, She Loves You, This Boy, Boys, I Want To Hold Your Hand, Twist And Shout and Long Tall Sally.

The Beatles never usually woke up until the afternoon and I was given the unfortunate job of waking them at 9.30am to do the session. I had decided it would be a good idea for all concerned if we had a sequence of photos showing them shaving, dressing etc. I insisted they cancel a scheduled New Musical Express interview because Paris Match was more important, and since John had never heard of it he didn’t forgive me for months.”

Ringo Starr made an appearance on Cilla Black's television show on 6 February 1968. In the lead-up to the show he took part in three days of rehearsals, the first of which took place on this day.

This and the following day's rehearsals took place at the purpose-designed Television Rehearsal Rooms on Victoria Road in North Acton, London. They were off-camera, and involved blocking out segments and scenes for the live show, which was broadcast the following Tuesday.

Starr's appearance was for the second edition of Cilla, a variety show with a number of guests each week. On this occasion they were comedian Spike Milligan and ventriloquist Peter Brough.

Starr appeared during the opening credits and in a number of skits. In the first, he assisted Black in sorting through her fan mail and introduced one of her singing performances, I'm Playing Second Fiddle To A Football Team. A second sketch saw him interact with Peter Brough and performing with his own 'dummy', introduced as Ariadne but actually Black in a school uniform.

Starr and Black duetted unaccompanied on the 1905 song Nellie Dean while he drank from a pint of beer, and finally they sang and danced to a 1917 song entitled Do You Like Me?

On Saturday 1 February 1969, at Apple's headquarters at 3 Savile Row, London, a meeting was held in which Allen Klein(photo) outlined his assessment of The Beatles' finances.

Also present was John Eastman, soon to be Paul McCartney's father-in-law, whom had advised The Beatles to buy Brian Epstein's former company NEMS for £1 million.

The following is taken from Allen Klein's affidavit, read out in the High Court, London in early 1971, during the hearing of McCartney's lawsuit to dissolve The Beatles' partnership:
