Но это не номерной Харрисон, а их совместные с Рави Шанкаром записи.

Что-то по Джону столько вариантов изданий, что голова кругом. Интересно было бы понять, что здесь является минимальным best-buy с точки зрения получения всех записей? А то stripped DF не входит в box.. Да и DVD как-то отдельно... А если best-buy с точки зрения записей + всех разных обложек и буклетов?..

Да, Харрисон не номерной, но для таких как я, кто влез в колаборейшин - это удар.

Харрисона по-любому надо брать: его очень вкусно издают сейчас, лучше чем всех остальных битлов, мне нравится. Даже если на сей раз это больше Рави Шанкар, чем Джордж :)

Логичные вопросы:
I have hardly ever written a review for Amazon before but in this case I felt I needed to. I hope it generates some discussion and comment.

A fantastic opportunity to celebrate the life and work of JL - but this box and even with its counterpart releases seems a huge missed opportunity. I guess this is written in the light of having bought and played Neil Young's Archives to death, and currently enjoying the Tom Petty live box, the genesis 5.1 boxes etc. and excited about the imminent release of the deluxe Sandy Denny box.

My point is this box is being released as deluxe - but I have a number of questions/comments as to what is missing to make this box truly a deluxe offer:

1. As I understand it this box is only an 11cd release i.e. the Double Fantasy disc is only stripped down - why doesn't it come as a double pack?
2. Where is Menlove Avenue?
3. Where are the live albums including Live Peace in Toronto?
4. Where is Shaved Fish? Sure the 'bonus' disc of singles covers many of these but this was a great collection and great cover art and again is conspicuous in its absence.
5. Why only 'one' disc of rarities - for years I've had 12 cds + of bootleg demos, live tracks and alternate takes of JL and know there is so much more which could have been released to beef the attractiveness of this package up!
6. Where is Two Virgins, Life with the Lions, Wedding Album etc. - a truly retorspective box is what I would have wanted - avant garde 'mistakes' and all.
7. Why oh why no dvd content - on the discs or at least as a separate disc as per the Beatles Stereo box set - they could have done mini docs on each disc a la the Hendrix reissues, full docs on seperate dvd discs as per depeche mode and nick cave reissues or just re-release existing dvds in great 5.1 format as genesis did. But nothing....?
8. Then the price tag! All of the aboce and more are missing - no 5.1 mixes and a £136.99 price tag?

5 for the music and 1 for the box content - the best I can give this is a 3.

By the same token beware the Macca band on the Run box - over-priced and repetition of a lot of the 25th anniversary content with little new to add but one hand clapping.

Those owning the beatles' legacy should take a look at Neil Young and others and see the dedication they are placing to their releases for fans who've spent years spending a fortune on them. And don't even get me started on the Bowie Station to Station 'deluxe' box - 3 cds of the same tracks etc. etc. etc.

Ответ был таким: "Этот вопос до сих пор не рассматривался". Но, сами понимаете, сегодня он не рассматривался, а завтра решат его расмотреть. Уклончиво ответила...

Красотища. Интересно содержание буклетов. А то переиздания, последовавшие после MIND GAMES 2002 года (который, по моему, был великолепен) как-то ну очень разочаровали.

Четырехдисковый сборник это зачем вообще? А новый сборник хитов? Сколько раз будут по-разному компоновать одни и те же песни?

Про сборник хитов - согласен. Надоело. Пусть уже оставят какую-то одну компиляцию - либо John Lennon Collection, либо Lennon Legend, как в случае с Битлз (каноничные два сборника 1962-1966 и 1967-1970).
Лучше бы выпустили еще один бокс-сет с записями Lost Lennon Tapes))
