Brian Wilson's 'Smile' Wins Mojo's Album Of The Year
Readers of Mojo have voted Brian Wilson’s ‘Smile’ as the best album of the past year, beating off Nick Cave and Morrissey.
The former Beach Boy also won the Event of the Year category for his critically acclaimed live performances of the album.
In a letter to the magazine Wilson said he was honoured that UK fans thought so highly of his work. He wrote: "The fact that MOJO's readers have chosen ‘Smile’ as their favourite album of 2004 and my ‘Smile’ tour the event of the year blows my mind.”
He also revealed that he has been in the studio recording new tracks: "This is so cool, and I can't wait to get back over there. But I have to go into the studio for a while, because 'Smile' was so well-received, I'm inspired to cut the new songs I've been writing since my last trip to London.”
