The world premiere performance of Roger Waters' opera "Ca Ira", will be the high spot of this year's commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Poznan riots in 1956 (which were against Poland's communist government). We are pleased to bring you news of this, and a second performance, both being held in Poland.

Authors of the project say that “Ça Ira” will be performed in two versions. The first will be as a big open air show, taking place on 7th July at Poznan's International Trade Fair site. The second will be the full staged performance premiere, held on the stage of Poznan's Grand Theatre, in November 2006.

"The work is inspired by the French Revolution," said a statement from the municipal authorities in Poznan. "The author speaks of the eternal thirst for liberty, of the fight for freedom and for ideals. In Poland, we have known many similar rebellions."

The director and choreographer for the show is Janusz Józefowicz, who is very well respected in Poland. Guest performers for the productions will be the London Community Gospel Choir, Poznan's Boys' Choir, and the UAM Academic Choir.

Hello. Roger will indeed headline one of the Rock In Rio Lisboa nights. He'll be playing after Carlos Santana. I saw Peter Gabriel and Paul McCartney two years ago on the same venue (beautiful open air venue) and it was a blast. This is totally unexpected!! If this is an isolated RW show (which I doubt) or a part of a larger tour, that remains to be seen.
Keep a close look on the festival website. They should update the english page shortly. Tickets will go on sale on March the 1st, I think.

British rocker ROGER WATERS is relaunching his opera CA IRA (THERE IS HOPE) in Poland in July (06), before taking the show to France.

The former PINK FLOYD star was horrified when the opera was critically mauled following it's premiere in Rome, Italy, and is now planning an improved Polish version of the show.

Waters says, "The mayor, the director of the opera, and a young director from Poznar in Poland, were in Rome, and they are absolutely determined to do a real production next summer - a fully staged production with costumes."

A statement from the city's municipal authorities reads, "The show will take place July 7 at Poznan's international trade fair site in front of 10,000 spectators.

Как сообщает Classic Rock Site, Роджер выступит на фестивале Arrow Classic Rock Festival 9 Июня!..

Также стало известно, что в Лиссабоне он исполнит 2-х часовой сет!

И планирует выступить на не менее чем 15 рок фестивалях!

Однако на официальном сайте фестивалей нет слова о выступлении Роджера на Arrows Classic Rock Festival.

В добавление этим слухам немецкая газета Süddeutsche Zeitung сообщила 11 февраля, что Уотерс выступит 8 Июня в Берлине. В статье сказано, что Роджер исполнит ЦЕЛИКОМ The Darks Side Of The Moon!

Но, к сожалению, обе новости (и про Голландский фестиваль, и про выступление в Берлине) НЕ ПОДТВЕРЖДЕНЫ!(

Однако стало точно известно, что 7 Июля в Познани состоится постановка Са Иры на открытом воздухе.

On our way back home, we were already thinking about some names, that would make a fine bill for the second edition of this great festival. We came up with bands like ZZ TOP, KANSAS, FLEETWOOD MAC, GOLDEN EARRING, MEAT LOAF, YES, HEART, JOURNEY, WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER, TED NUGENT, ROGER WATERS (playing a PINK FLOYD set of course) and BOSTON. Maybe it is possible to get RUSH over here?!?! When we listened to the radio a few days later, we heard that there probably will be a second edition next year. They already spoke to Ian Anderson and JETHRO TULL - a great choice in my humble opinion! Which bands will eventually play, wonТt be much of importance though. If theyТll be able to create that same magic atmosphere, like they did this year, I will definitely be there again, because this is just my kind of music and I am damn proud of it. Cheers to the Arrow Classic Rock Festival, and hope to see you all again next year!!!!

Roger will be DSOTM performing in Berlin on June 8th.

It's claimed that Roger will do a ONCE ONLY EXTENDED VERSION of Dark Side Of The Moon.
The article goes on to say that the EXTENDED VERSION
wasn't possible in the past because the technology wasn't there to support it.
We stress that BOTH stories are UNCONFIRMED.

Hot on the tail of the now-announced appearance of Roger Waters at the Lisbon Rock In Rio Festival, in Portugal on June 2nd, comes appearances elsewhere across Europe - although none of which have yet been officially confirmed by Roger's management.

We have details of the latest appearances which seem to be happening, and understand that Roger is due to perform some FIFTEEN or so festivals throughout Europe this summer! Set lengths are due to vary from show to show, but the Lisbon performance is due to last around two hours.

Firstly, an article in yesterday's edition of highly respected German newspaper, "Sueddeutsche Zeitung", claims that Roger Waters will stage a very special rendition of the Pink Floyd classic "Dark Side Of The Moon" in Berlin on June 8th. They state that Roger wants to stage a unique audio show of the concept album at the Berlin “Wuhlheide”. He deliberately chose a relatively small venue, with only 17,000 spectators.

The performance is planned to be a previously unheard “extended version” of the concept, which he was not able to realize in the early 70’s due to technical reasons. It is supposed to be the main part of a concert where other songs by Roger Waters and Pink Floyd will also be played.

Another show has been mentioned by the Dutch Progressive Rock Pages website < http://www.dprp.net/gigguides/index.php >, which states that Roger will be playing the Arrow Rock Festival in Lichtenvoorde, the Netherlands, on June 9th. The festival's website < http://www.arrowrockfestival.nl/ > makes no mention of Roger, but does make it clear that not all acts have been announced yet. Those that have, include Deep Purple, Status Quo, and Journey.

Finally, Norwegian state TV channel NRK report on their site < http://www.nrk.no/musikk/festival/norwegian_wood/5477111.html > that Roger Waters has been confirmed to appear at the annual Norwegian Wood Festival in Oslo, on its first day, June 14th. During the concert Roger will perform classic Pink Floyd songs, alongside a complete performance (although it is not clear if it is the extended version) of "Dark Side of the Moon".

Также стало известно, что репетиции мини-турне Роджера начнутся в Мае. Однако ПиПи посетит Роджера в Лондоне в Марте, где продолжаться записи его альбома(мов).

PP Arnold to tour with Roger.

We have received advice that PP Arnold will be on Roger's mini tour,
which is expected to span the June/July period.

We understand rehearsals begin in May. PP will also travel to London in
March to meet with Roger, where it's thought that they will be working
on one of Roger's new albums.

It's further understood that all dates & venues for the tour are now
finalised.

More news as we get it.

Как сообщает сайт www.nrk.no, Norwegian public broadcaster NRK, Роджер выступит на фестивале Norwegian Wood в Осло, в Среду, 14 Июня (о чём было написано выше). Но, что самое интересное, он планирует исполнить на фестивале целиком сюиту The Dark Side Of the Moon + несколько песен, т.е. как и 8 Июня на фестивале Wuhlheide в Берлине.

Насколько верны эти данные пока неизвестно.
