As many fans know, I've been tracking down Roy Wood's surviving tapes over many years and many locations worldwide. Some material has come out, much has not.
Of particular interest to fans is Roy's later Warner Bros. albums 'Superactive Wizzo' and 'On The Road Again' which have never been re-released on vinyl, let alone released on CD. In fact, 'On The Road Again' never had an original UK release. Is this anyway to treat one of the UK's most important songwriters and originator of the Electric Light Orchestra concept?
I've been trying for six years now to get both albums remastered and released on CD. While Warner Bros. UK have been supportive, it's clear these albums do not feature in their catalogue release strategy, despite Roy being championed and the albums released originally by the then WB chairman, Mo Ostin.
But YOU can help.
Roy Wood's later Warner Bros. albums, 'Superactive Wizzo' and 'On The Road Again' are being considered for release on CD.
If the Roy Wood/Move/ELO fanbase shows enough support, Warner Bros. will do a dedicated, limited edition remastered CD and DVD release of 'Superactive Wizzo' plus 'The Wizzo Band BBC Sight And Sound In Concert' (audio and visuals) followed by the remastered CD 'On The Road Again' plus previously unreleased bonus tracks.
If we can guarantee 2,000 orders, we have a release. If not, the tapes will be locked away.
Roy Wood fans around the world: This is YOUR chance to make something happen. Please sign this petition if you want to see these albums released and to support Roy Wood.
