So why have both of the Wilburys' critically acclaimed platinum albums -- 1988's Vol. 1 and 1990's Vol. 3 -- gone out of print? "It's a simple explanation, really," says Tom Petty, who collaborated in the band with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne. Originally held by Warner Bros., the albums' rights reverted back to Harrison (who acted as the group's manager) in 1995. "George really wanted to do another Wilburys record, with the idea of bringing them all out on CD at once," says Petty. "But we just never got around to it." Thankfully, someone finally has. According to Petty, the Harrison estate is working on a Wilburys' reissue for sometime in 2006, which would include some unreleased tracks and a DVD of footage that was recorded in the studio. "I guess people live off their brother's old copy," he says. "And I think they'd really like some new ones!" |

WAYNE, CARL & ROY WOOD - BEYOND THE MOVE: ANTHOLOGY Anthology of solo material from the late Carl Wayne who also fronted the Hollies, & Roy Wood. January 16, 2006 CMQCD 1255
Это не про него ли на FTM говорится: "an anthology of The Move lead singer's collaborations with Wood, for which Roy has remastered and acted as executive producer"?

NEW SINGLE ‘JENNY WREN’ RELEASED TODAY!
‘Jenny Wren’ is the second single to be taken from Paul McCartney's new highly acclaimed album ‘Chaos And Creation In The Backyard’. Fast becoming a live favourite on Paul’s 37-date sell-out ‘US’ tour of North America and Canada, ‘Jenny Wren’ is classic Paul McCartney. The press have described ‘Jenny Wren’ as, “his most poignant and affecting song in years” and “endearing and unexpectedly affecting.”
‘Jenny Wren’ is both a soulful and mournful song with a simple and incredibly effective arrangement. It’s difficult not to be moved by the heart tugging melody. It’s an acoustic track in the style of much loved McCartney songs ‘Mother Nature’s Son’, ‘Calico Sky’ and ‘Blackbird’. McCartney in fact describes the track as “daughter of blackbird.”

'Charlie Is My Darling' DVD
"Revered by Stones fans worldwide as one of the best unreleased gems from the 60s!"
"This fine piece of 1960s verite 'rockumentary' directed by Peter Whitehead is an astounding 'fly on the wall' look at the Rolling Stones on tour in Ireland in 1965. Whitehead manages to create an astonishing level of intimacy with the Stones at the height of 'Satisfaction' era mania. Brian Jones' narcissism is clearly visible, Jagger and Richards play up for the cameras and even Watts and Wyman get into the spirit of the times. Fantastic behind-the-scenes, interviews with fans and the band. Footage of the band off stage, hanging out and traveling to gigs" Directed, photographed and edited by Peter Whitehead.
Released December 5th |

Dave is quick to point his (middle?) finger at acts he feels ripped off the Kinks' music. One of his main pet peeves is the Door's "Hello, I Love You" which, melodically and structurally, does bear a similarity to "All Day and All of the Night."
"That one is the most irritating of all of all of them," he fumed. "The other night I did a show where I played "All Day and All of the Night" and stuck in a piece of 'Hello, I Love You.' There was some response, there were a few smiles. But I've never understood why nobody's ever said anything about it. You can't say anything about the Doors. You're not allowed to."
‘All Day And All Of The Night’ was later copied by the Doors, as ‘Hello I love You’. Why didn’t you sue?
It was so outrageously obvious and our music publishers wanted to sue them and we saw lawyers, but Ray and I decided it was a silly idea. Funny, I met someone in L.A. who has access to some early Doors tapes and he says they did a version of ‘Hello I love You’ with heavy guitar in it and they must have realised it was too blatant a rip-off so they did it again with a more keyboard-oriented feel. I’d love to be able to get a hold of that recording!
1. it was 1968 before Doors secured another number 1 single with the infectious "Hello I Love You." The song was also the group's first major UK hit, although some of this luster was lost following legal action by Ray Davies of the Kinks, who claimed infringement of his own composition, "All Day And All Of The Night." The action coincided with the Doors' first European tour.
2. Ray Davies filed legal action against The Doors claiming that "Hello, I Love You" was stolen from this song.
3. The music is similar to The Kinks' "All Day And All Of The Night." The Doors had to pay royalties from the British single to The Kinks after Ray Davies sued them.
I heard about the Kinks suing the Doors because they thought that you ripped Hello I love you off them. Is this true? ...and if so what happened?
NO I talked to Ray Davies and he said cool mate It sounds sort of like us but go ahead and use it, said Ray Davies |
