The Police признали "самой грязной группой мира"

Трио The Police признали "самой грязной группой мира", сообщает The Daily Mail. Подразумевается, что концерты группы оказывают крайне негативное влияние на природу.

На окружающую среду плохо влияют не сами музыканты, а их многочисленные поклонники. В настоящее время группа находится в мировом туре. Трио планирует дать более ста концертов в Северной и Южной Америке, Европе, Австралии и Азии.

Предполагается, что около полутора миллионов фанатов The Police будут вынуждены преодолеть значительные расстояния, чтобы попасть на шоу любимой группы. Многие из них воспользуются личными автомобилями, загрязняя окружающую среду выхлопными газами.

The Police - не единственный коллектив, дающий стадионные концерты. Однако внимание экологов привлекли масштабы концертного тура этой группы.

The Daily Mail также отмечает, что вред, наносимый природе концертами The Police, вступает в противоречие с общественной деятельностью лидера группы Стинга, являющегося известным защитником окружающей среды

Sting.First visit in Moscow.

Sting first visited Russia in March 1996. As a part of his Mercury Falling World Tour the famous musician played two gigs at the Kremlin palace in Moscow. The shows were co-sponsored by the Alfa-Bank and SAV Entertainment.


Two days before the shows Sting s press conference took place in the Baltshug Kempinski hotel, attracting a host of Russian and international media. Answering numerous questions, ranging from boring to risky, Sting revealed his discretion and tact, truly British. The powerful sense of humor, another English quality, was also there.
Sting was supported by his band: Kenny Kirkland on keyboards, Vinnie Colayuta on drums and Dominic Miller on guitar. Both shows opened with the widely known If I Ever Loose My Faith In You and closed with the emotional Fragile. In his show Sting included many of his hits but, to the fans chagrin, omitted one of the ones most popular here, Russians. He just incorporated an instrumental part from this «perestroika» anthem into Roxanne. Both music critics and fans noticed Sting s harsher and heavier sound.



While in Moscow, the guest from the British Isles managed to see some Kremlin museums and the Tretyakov Gallery, listen to Romeo and Juliet in the Bolshoi, visit the Red Square and attend reception in his honor in the British Embassy. Sting also visited several restaurants and night clubs.

Moscow, Russia – As part of his Broken Music Tour in Russia, British musician Sting is singing for forest conservation.

The former Police lead singer and distinguished solo artist will contribute part of the proceeds from his Moscow concert to WWF-Russia’s Plant Your Forest for Life Programme, which works to restore unique pine forests in Siberia’s Altai region.

The Altai region is a mosaic of coniferous forests and alpine meadows, hosting a rich degree of biodiversity. However, forest clearance, fires, mining, over-grazing and over-hunting are seriously threatening the region’s forests.

"Sting has long been involved with several causes, including fighting poverty and rainforest preservation," said WWF-Russia's Forest Programme Director Elena Kulikova.

"It is very important for us that Sting focuses his attention on Russia's forests, which are an integral part of the country's natural heritage.

In addition to supporting WWF, Sting has worked with other non-profit organizations such as Nordoff Robbins, Walden Woods, The Rainforest Foundation, Amnesty International and others.

This is Sting’s third visit to Russia, part of WWF’s Stars for a Living Planet. Other popular musicians who have contributed their time and efforts include Valery Syutkin (Russia), Cesaria Evora (Cape Verde) and John Scofield (US).

The Broken Music Tour is in Russia for shows in St Petersburg on July 24 and Moscow on July 26. The Moscow concert is organized and sponsored by Alfa Bank, WWF-Russia’s corporate partner since 2001.
