Another huge summer concert revealed for the capital.

The Who and Roger Waters will head up two days of live music in London's
Hyde Park this summer.

Announced yesterday evening at a press call, Hyde Park Calling will bring
together a host of rock acts over two days in early July, with The Who sure

to replicate their spectacular live show (last seen a year previously - on

the same stage - at Live 8) and Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters to perform
the band's landmark "Dark Side Of The Moon" in its entirety.

Held over the weekend of Saturday July 1st and Sunday July 2nd, the
mini-festival will also see Texas, Starsailor performing on the first night

with Dave Gilmour, while the second day sees supporting performances from
Razorlight and Primal Scream.

Several more bands are still to be announced.

Tickets for the event are priced at Ј42.50 for either day, while weekend
tickets go for Ј80. They go on sale 09:00 GMT tomorrow (March 10).

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Palestinian artists have appealed to Roger Waters, famed for the 1970s protest song "Another Brick in the Wall", to cancel a concert in Israel out of solidarity with their fight against Israel's West Bank barrier.

Pink Floyd singer-songwriter Waters, a vocal critic of the 600-km (370-mile) network of fences and concrete barricades going up in and around the occupied territory, surprised many in the Middle East by agreeing to perform in Tel Aviv this summer.

Concert promoter Shuki Weiss said Waters was persuaded to come to Israel after it quit the Gaza Strip, territory on which Palestinians want to build a state, last year in a move billed as breaking a deadlock in peacemaking.

But a group of Palestinian artists said on Thursday they had written a letter to Waters this week warning the concert may undermine lobbying against the barrier, which has been globally condemned for effectively annexing swathes of West Bank land.

Israel calls the barrier a bulwark against suicide bombers spearheading a more than 5-year-old Palestinian revolt.

"How can someone who wants to look like a leftist in the world -- fighting against the Berlin Wall, for open borders, and for love between people -- come to Israel while they are still building their wall and hold a musical event?" Sliman Manour of the Palestinian Association for Contemporary Art, told Reuters.

Mansour, one of the signatories of the letter, said it called on Waters to cancel the concert or at least put on another performance for Palestinians. The musician has indicated he opposes an anti-Israel boycott.

"I would not rule out going to Israel because I disapprove of the foreign policy any more than I would refuse to play in the UK because I disapprove of Tony Blair's foreign policy," Waters said in comments published by the Guardian.

Palestinians consider the barrier's towering barricades, especially where they cut through Arab East Jerusalem, as a salient symbol of independence hopes dimmed by Israel.

Israeli officials have said that just 6 percent of the finished barrier will be wall, and that the project could be rerouted or torn down if violence ceases and peace talks resume.

Such assurances have been heard little, however, since Hamas, an Islamic militant group sworn to the Jewish state's destruction, swept to power in Palestinian elections on January 25.

Yet Weiss said that Waters had been encouraged by the Gaza pullout and felt that peace should still be given a chance while staying firm in his opposition to the West Bank barrier.

"His message is about peace and coexistence, that walls should be replaced by bridges," Weiss said.

Former PINK FLOYD rocker ROGER WATERS is under pressure from Palestinian political activists to cancel an upcoming concert in Tel Aviv, Israel. The bassist - who received a letter supported by the Palestinian Campaign For The Academic And Cultural Boycott Of Israel and other groups asking him not to play in Israel "until the time comes when it ends its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory" - has so far refused to adhere to the demands. He says, "I am happy to play to anybody who believes in peace. I don't discriminate between any of my fans, wherever they live. Being an Israeli does not disbar from being a human being." OMAR BARGHOUTI of the Palestinian campaign says the group has sought out Walters because of his past support of their cause. He says, "We are appealing to Roger Waters because we feel that a principled and conscientious artist like him, who is on record opposing Israel's illegal wall, would be more accommodating to our perspective, to our moral argument."

ROGER WATERS is to recreate PINK FLOYD's landmark DARK SIDE OF THE MOON album in its entirety as part of a massive weekend of British rock at London's Hyde Park. The former Pink Floyd leader will perform the tracks from the megahit 1973 album on 1 July (06) - as part of the Hyde Park Calling festival. The concert is expected to be Waters' only British concert performance of 2006. Other acts lined up so far for the London megagig include THE WHO, TEXAS and RAZORLIGHT.

(IsraelNN.com) Arab artists have appealed to British song-writer Roger Waters to cancel a scheduled appearance in Israel. In the 1970s, Waters wrote a protest song entitled "Another Brick in the Wall" for Pink Floyd.

Waters, who has indicated he favors an anti-Israel boycott, agreed to appear after last summer's expulsions. The Arab artists warned Waters that his appearance could hurt the campaign against completing the barrier.

Hard Rock International is celebrating its birthday with a series of blockbuster concerts this year, starting with The Who and Roger Waters at the Hyde Park Calling festival in London July 1-2.
The two-day event is to be the inaugural show of Hard Rock's Ambassadors of Rock Tour, which organizers say will include a series of concerts around the globe.
The Who's Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey appeared at the Hard Rock Cafe London March 8 to announce the festival, which commemorates Hard Rock's 35th anniversary.
Further shows are planned in Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, New York, Chicago, Caracas, and two cities in Florida - Hollywood and Orlando.

Palestinian artists have appealed to Roger Waters, the Pink Floyd songwriter who wrote the band's final hit, Another Brick in the Wall, to call off a concert in Tel Aviv in June because it could be seen as legitimising the towering wall Israel is building through Jerusalem.
Groups such as the Palestinian Association for Contemporary Art and the League of Palestinian Artists have written to Waters expressing concern at his plans. Their letter said: "Palestinian as well as several international artists asked in shock: how can the artist whose name around the world was for many years associated with breaking walls of injustice be in any way complicit with the monstrosity of Israel's wall, declared illegal by the international court of justice?"

Last year, Waters was among several British artists who supported a War On Want campaign against the West Bank barrier. At the time, Waters said: "The poverty inflicted by the wall has been devastating for Palestinians. It has kept children from their schools, the sick from proper medical care and continues to destroy the Palestinian economy."

Yesterday, he said: "I have a lot of fans in Israel, many of whom are refuseniks. I would not rule out going to Israel because I disapprove of the foreign policy any more than I would refuse to play in the UK because I disapprove of Tony Blair's foreign policy."
