As Roger Waters' 2006 summer tour of Europe moves ever closer, we have news for our North American friends - the complete run-down of shows he will be playing there in the Fall, along with the dates that tickets go on sale.

The tour promises a complete run-through of the 1973 Pink Floyd classic, Dark Side Of The Moon, as the second half of the show. The first half is a mix of Floyd classics and Roger's solo material. Elaborate staging is promised, designed by Mark Fisher, complete with projections, and a full, 360 degree quadrophonic sound system.

The dates below show on the dates that tickets go on general sale. American Express cardholders will be able to purchase tickets 7 days prior to the public on-sale date, and Amex have already begun emailing their customers with ticketing information.

Кстати, в этот день 16 лет назад, в 1990г. дорожная команда Роджера Уотерса нашла невзорванную бомбу эпохи Второй Мировой Войны, когда конструировала сет для сценического шоу Уотерса Стена в Берлине!

NEW YORK, April 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Roger Waters, co-founder and principal songwriter of the archetypal progressive rock band Pink Floyd, will perform "The Dark Side Of The Moon" in its entirety during his highly-anticipated upcoming North American concert tour.

Waters is slated to play 19 concerts in 18 venues beginning September 6 at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey and ending October 12 at the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington. Stops on the tour include a two-night run at New York's Madison Square Garden as well as concerts at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and San Francisco's fabled Shoreline Amphitheatre (see full itinerary following).

The eagerly-awaited Roger Waters concert tour will combine an evening's worth of music --comprised of two sets plus encores-- with state-of-the-art staging, lighting and sound.

Set One will be a comprehensive overview of Waters' music including early Pink Floyd material; classic compositions from the masterpiece "The Wall"; beloved pieces from "Animals," "Wish You Were Here," and "The Final Cut"; and songs from Waters' solo tour de force: "Amused To Death."

Set Two will consist of Roger Waters and full band performing "The Dark Side Of The Moon," one of the defining works of rock music history, from start-to-finish. Waters last performed "The Dark Side Of The Moon" live in America with Pink Floyd more than 30 years ago.

The Roger Waters band features Andy Fairweather-Low (guitar and vocals), Snowy White (guitar), Dave Kilminster (guitar and vocals), Jon Carin (keyboards and vocals), Graham Broad (drums), Harry Waters (Hammond organ), and Ian Ritchie (saxophone) and Katie Kissoon, PP Arnold and Carol Kenyon (vocals).

The Roger Waters concerts will utilize elaborate large-scale video projections and theatrical staging to underscore and accentuate the power of the music which is delivered via a state-of-the-art 3600 quadraphonic sound system immersing the audience in a 3-dimensional hyperworld.

The Roger Waters North American tour dates will follow the artist's series of European concerts in June and July.

A brilliantly-wrought song-cycle detailing the conundrums of humanity's place in a modern technocracy, "The Dark Side Of The Moon" achieved a soulful austerity of mood while foreshadowing the role of electronica in an emerging youth culture.

"The Dark Side Of The Moon" reached an unparalleled level of aesthetic and commercial success becoming one of the world's top-selling albums of all time (with global sales totaling more than 34 million copies). The album remained in the Billboard Top 200 best-selling albums chart for a record-breaking 15 years and, as recently as 2003, occupied the #1 spot on the Billboard Pop Catalog chart. In 2004, the album was still selling more than 8,000 copies a week. It has been estimated that 1 in every 14 Americans under the age of 50 owns a copy of "The Dark Side Of The Moon."

(antiMusic) Roger Waters is coming to America. The former Floydster will hit North American shores for a string of shows beginning on September 6th. His touring band will include Andy Fairweather Low and Snowy White on guitar, drummer Graham Broad and Waters' son Harry on Hammond organ, according to Billboard.
Fans are in for a special treat as Waters plans to perform 'Dark Side Of The Moon' in it's entirety for the North American stops. Waters will also spend the summer in other parts of the world including a stop at the Rock in Rio festival and a swing through Europe and the controversial show in Israel.

Waters released his classical opera 'Ça Ira' last September.

There’s this film I watched called USA The Movie (UTM) in which this older guy that drives across America in an R.V. ends up going through this total breakdown until he burns up the world. It’s really about war and Iraq and 9/11 and the human destruction of the world, although it even has a bigger, more universal feel than just those things.
I found the movie through a Pink Floyd message board and they said that the filmmaker is really into Roger Waters. When he was interviewed said something about being moved by Waters music and his lyrics and especially his sensibility and that UTM deliberately has the same kind of feel and structure as a lot of Waters’ work. I remember him saying something about how Roger Waters’ pieces are really complex and layered and they keep growing with impact and emotion the more you listen. I think I would say that UTM is to movies what Waters’ songs are to Rock. In other words, they’re not like anything else and you feel like you’ve been taken somewhere beyond just the usual movies and rock and roll.

UTM really had the feel of “Two Suns In The Sunset” from the Final Cut. It makes me wish they had used it in the movie.

Elaborate staging is promised, complete with projections, and a full, 360 degree quadrophonic sound system.

With a population that has a high concentration of Waters/Floyd fans, the beautiful island of Malta will be playing host to Roger on July 10th. It won't be the first time that Roger has visited the island, having premiered pieces from Ca Ira there as part of the EU Accension celebrations on May 1st, 2004, accompanied by a huge firework, light and laser display in the Grand Harbour.

This will be the first time, however, that any past or present member of Pink Floyd will have performed there.

We are just waiting for ticketing details for this show, and as soon as we have them, we will update the relevent show page in our Roger Waters 2006 Tour Room - which has details of all the European and North American shows, including relevent websites, maps to the venues, and more.
