А я вот неделю назад купил диск группы Chase - Chase/Pure Music (71-74)/ Жаль, что так поздно. Отличная духовая секция(кстати состоит из одних только труб), ритм, перкуссия. Настоящий рок-джаз. Кто-нибудь поделитесь впечатлениями
Да Чикаго в свое время были для меня настоящим открытием.
Согласен, что люди стареют..... Но все равно приятно смотреть и слушать пусть и старые вещи ...цатьлетней давности.
А альбом с джазовыми стандартами просто супер. Вот вы например, могли подумать, что Чикаго возьмут да и сыграют джаз?

Моей любимой песней у Чикаго и одной из любимейших в роке вообще всегда была и остаётся "25 Or 6 To 4".
Вот что говорит о ней автор Robert Lamm в интервью за 2000 год:
-Both "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" and "25 or 6 to 4" were rumored to be underground drug songs —
Well, I've always been intrigued with the idea of time, and how we attempt to keep track of it, and I talk in other songs about crossing over into other dimensions, even temporarily, on any given day. But "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is" is just recounting an experience I had when I was a teenager. I asked somebody what time it was and he said. "Does anybody really know what time it is?" I went with that idea, fleshed out the rest of the song, and made it into a larger subject than what time it was at that particular moment.

"25 or 6 to 4" is really a song about just writing a song, and a reference to time. It was written up in the Hollywood Hills above Sunset; I was living in a house with some other people and I could look out across the city and see flashing lights against the sky.

A "25 or 6 to 4"! We've been one up-tempo song short for 30 years. You know, "25 or 6 to 4" is the encore every night, I don't care where we are, when it is, that song has to be the closer of the show, because that is the rock 'n' roll anthem from this band. There ain't any others.

Well, that's not the real Chicago. That's part of the real Chicago. "If You Leave Me Now" is just as much Chicago as "25 or 6 to 4". "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "You're The Inspiration", those are all Chicago as well. But after the success of that genre of song, the "25 or 6 to 4" aspect side of this band got put on the back burner, and every year it gets farther and farther back. We've been fighting tooth and nail to come back. We're up against this image thing, and no matter how prolific we are, in terms of up-tempo songs, it's like they don't trust it. Our manager comes to us and says, "Hey man, that'll never get on the radio. It has nothing to do with our lack of being prolific.

Given that frustration, what keeps you in the band?
The fact that we can't write another "25 or 6 to 4" and get it on the radio is not going to ruin my day. There are other ways of presenting songs and there are other things to write songs for. But regardless of whatever frustration we might have, I enjoy writing songs. Chicago has been a wonderful platform to do what we do. We're very lucky that we've had such a great springboard to write what we write and have such a successful vehicle to present our songs with. I think we're very lucky people.

Если они заявляют, что "Chicago XXX" - первый полностью новый студийный альбом после "Chicago Twenty 1" (1991), тогда получается, что "Chicago XXX" - это 18-й студийный альбом "Чикаго" (если исключить концертники и сборники). Правда, я так и не врубился, а где у них 29-й "Чикаго"... Что об эьлм диске вообще известно? И что такое "Chicago XXV" - разве он не студийный? Знатоки творчества этой группы, просветите, плиз! Заранее спасибо!

Chicago XXV-студийный.Но поскольку материал не оригинальный авторский,а традиционный рождественский,его и считают не совсем "полноценным":-).29-й Chicago Love Songs,а 27-28 двойной The Very Best of Chicago:
Only The Beginning.Так я это понимаю:-).

Chicago is the product of consistency and keeping key core members in the band for the last 37 years. XXX is their 30th studio recording and a total demonstration of their wherewithal and greatness as a thriving unit. I am the first to say I enjoyed their older material, the first five albums where incredibly good. Over the years, they have changed members and their style but what you hear is indisputably Chicago. The reasons for their success are many and probably the most important factor that contributes to that ongoing success is that they have managed to keep that base sound intact. The all-important horns are always there and the leadership of long time members like Robert Lamm, Walt Parazaider, James Pankow, Lee Loughnane, and Bill Champlin, serve as the guiding light of this modern day musical marvel. The vocals have sounded pretty much the same since Peter Cetera was at the helm. The have managed to find clones of his vocal style, thus making any of the changes seamless and smooth to the music buying public. To say they have been a commercial success is an understatement.


There are 13 tracks on this CD and they all have the potential to be a hit single…no surprise there. Their output is comparative to The Beatles; every time they put an album out, they fill it with great and memorable songs. I cannot think of one band that is still actively recording that can do that. That is what makes Chicago so special. The first time I heard the album I thought it was a bit too pop oriented for my liking, and then as I gave it successive spins it gradually grew on me. The realization that this band had done it again hit me square between the eyes. The driving pop rhythms of love and loss are here, the great rhythm section, horns, fantastic vocals-all in place lined up like a well-practiced platoon with its marching orders. This recording is one that all the band members should be proud to add to Chicago legacy.

The tracks that had me singing in no time were “King of Might Have Been,” “Caroline,” and the made for hit single “90 Degrees and Freezing.” This is a sure bet to be a chart topper, its archetypal Chicago and it reminded of the band in their prime. Sure, I still like the risqué progressive Chicago that played those immortal dates at Carnegie Hall, but this version of the band is very good and as I said before, who else is making music like this? This is quality music, the lyrics are not offensive or negative, nor do they promote violence or drug abuse, know how much trash is out there today selling by the truckload that offers all of that?...A little too much as far as I am concerned. The jazz purists will complain as usual and the old time fans may say it has too much syrupy pop for their gullets, but you know what? Its one of the best albums I have heard this year and the musicianship is simply outstanding. Listen to it a few times, I guarantee you will be hooked, even if you do not like it the first time just like me. Yes, it is very much mainstream and easy listening but is so very good!

Да! Мне тоже! Американский джаз-роковый музыкант, трубач Билл Чейз был одним из зачинателей "белого брасс-рока". Очень жаль, что он ушел так рано. :((( 9 августа 1974 года самолет, на котором летел Билл и еще несколько его музыкантов, разбился на подлете к аэродрому. В то время ему было всего 39 лет.

У меня был это альбом! Правда, у меня обложка диска была темно-зеленой. :)
А замечательный канадец Фергюсон в свое время сотрудничал с Чейзом и был его другом.
А еще на этом болгарском диске были записи замечательного джаз-рокового коллектива Джо Завинула WEATHER REPORT. Именно тогда состоялась моя первая встреча с этой группой. :)

Альбом называется СЪБОТА ВЕЧЕР.Песни соответственно ГОДИШНИ ВРЕМЕНА и МОЯТ ПРИЯТЕЛ СТЕН.

Народ,а кто-нибудь ознакомился с новым Чикаго?Я пока только отрывками в сети.Вроде хоть и попс в основном,но добротный.Хотя после известного концерта с "чёрными братьями" надеялся на несколько другое.
