Сегодня одному из фронтменов Metallica- Ларсу Ульриху, стукнуло 40 лет!! Так что всех с праздником!!!

Желаю ему свежих творческих идей и их адекватного воплощения! Думаю, что больше не будет не совсем понятных экспериментов в духе "St. Anger".

Да, всего ему самого-самого, хотя с 40-летием поздравлять все-таки не принято.
PS А мне "St. Anger" очень даже понравился.

Metallica Reality Show Was Planned

SFgate.com reports: The revealing documentary "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster,'' a hit at the San Francisco International Film Festival, almost got scrapped in favor of a TV reality show about the band members. The decision over how to tell their story came down to the exorbitant cost of the rights to Metallica's music.

"We waged an epic battle with their record company, Elektra,'' "Monster'' director Joe Berlinger said during an illuminating panel discussion Monday night on the partnership between music and independent film. Originally, Elektra had been happy to give Berlinger and co-director Bruce Sinofsky the rights for free as a way of promoting Metallica's new album. But that attitude changed "when the band started falling apart, and we started filming their therapy sessions, and when James (Hetfield) came back from rehab,'' said Berlinger. Suddenly Elektra execs could see larger financial rewards in turning the footage into an Ozzy Osbourne-type reality show.

"Fortunately, Metallica stood up for us and told them to take a hike. They said, 'We're Metallica and we don't need a cheesy reality show,' '' Berlinger said. Band members paid Elektra $2 million for the music rights and forked over an equal amount to the filmmakers to allow them to finish their documentary.

METALLICA Set Theatrical Release Date For 'Some Kind Of Monster' - May 5, 2004

METALLICA have set a July 9 theatrical release date for their much-anticipated $4-million documentary, "Some Kind of Monster". The film is initially expected to be released in small theaters in such cities as New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, with plans to show the movie in other U.S. markets by the fall.

Joe Berlinger, who directed the movie along with Bruce Sinofsky, had previously said that "Some Kind of Monster" will hit VHS and DVD early next year in what is likely to be two editions: a double-disc set composed of the movie and plenty of bonus footage, and a four-disc box featuring the movie plus as much as four and a half hours of edited footage that didn't make the film. There's also a good possibility that a soundtrack will accompany the DVD release, Berlinger said, adding that it would likely feature songs recorded during sessions that were left off "St. Anger".

As previously reported, METALLICA have struck a service deal with IFC Pictures in which the band will pick up all the marketing costs in order to control distribution of the film.

METALLICA - Lars Bio To Be Published In June [Hot

According to a posting at METALLICA's website, coming to stores in Denmark on June 1st will be the first official biography on drummer Lars Ulrich. Including interviews with close personal friends and family, the book details Lars life growing up in Denmark through the current Madly in Anger tour. The site adds more details:

Forkaelet med Frihed: Lars Ulrich - og hans band Metallica (straight translated: Spoiled by Freedom: Lars Ulrich - and his band Metallica) is the first specific biography on Lars Ulrich ever to be published, coming out June 1st in Denmark. The 320 page biography details Lars Ulrich's very unique childhood and youth in Denmark, as well as his development from being an extremely fanatical heavy metal fan to an ambitious youth tennis player, and later a determined heavy metal drummer and one of the visionary minds behind Metallica. The biography also describes the progression of Lars and Metallica through the 23 years of the bands existence and even takes a look in to the future of the band as well as the creative mind of Lars, who speaks on his dedication to film and ideas of filmmaking.

The biography is based on many hours of exclusive interviews with Lars supplemented by interviews with his family, friends and colleagues including his father Torben and close cousin Stein Ulrich, former Metallica producer and friend Flemming Rasmussen, Lars' heavy metal mentor Ken Anthony, friend and Copenhagen art counsellor Nils Staerk, old Danish music colleagues such as MERCYFUL FATE and ARTILLERY, Lars' very close friend actor Sean Penn, Metallica manager since 1984 Peter Mensch, movie-director Joe Berlinger, and the journalist Geoff Barton (Lars' old idol from the UK magazine Sounds and later Editor in Chief at Kerrang! Magazine). The biography is published by Danish publishing company Lindhardt and Ringhof on June 1st in Denmark only, but the company is pursuing getting the book translated and published in other territories as well.

MONSTER RELEASES FROM METALLICA!

METALLICA are to release a new EP to celebrate their new documentary film; 'METALLICA: SOME KIND OF MONSTER'.

The 'Monster' EP is set to come out in the US on July 13 and will feature six live classic tracks from the band, as well as two versions of the title track. Also included will be one song from the band's latest album 'St Anger' as well as a fully remixed and edited version by producer Bob Rock.

Also included with EP will be a limited edition compressed T-shirt in large or extra large sizes, emblazoned with the film's movie poster art. Double extra large sizes will be available online at metallica.com. The 'Monster' EP will also be available in shops without the T-shirt.

The six live tracks will be: 'The Four Horsemen', 'Damage, Inc.', 'Leper Messiah', 'Motorbreath', 'Ride The Lightning' and 'Hit The Lights' and were all recorded on June 11, 2003 in Paris.

The original theatrical trailer for Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster' will also feature on the disc, as well as a new version.

'Metallica: Some Kind Of Monster' was directed by Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky ('Paradise Lost') and documents a behind the scenes look at the band as they confront personal demons and their relationships with each other. It is due to open in the US on July 9, and will premiere in the UK at the Edinburgh Film Festival in August.

Metallica continue their 'Madly In Anger With The World' tour on August 16 in Minneapolis.

METALLICA: Audio Of Entire European Tour To Be Made Available For Download In August - July 16, 2004

METALLICA's official web site (www.metallica.com) has been updated with the following message:

"You may have noticed by now that most of the shows from the European trek this summer are not available yet for download on www.livemetallica.com. Never fear, they are coming, really!! As previously noted, the travel schedule for the crew was extremely grueling on this tour and now that everyone is safely tucked back in their homes or at H.Q., we are working furiously to re-mix the shows so that you will have the best possible sounding MP3s and FLACs. Our plan is to have the entire tour (except for Paris, France) available for download the first week of August. We know this is after the promised mid-July, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Металлика это....не знаю....никогда особенно не любила эту группу....хотя не отрицаю,что за время своего существования они написали штук пять шедевров
но они были достаточно влиятельны в своё время....

Шедевров у Них побольше , весь Master of Puppets , ...And Justice for all , Metallica(black) IMHO. А то что всему своё время - это да...

Хм... мда. Когда-нибуть какой-нибудь мелковозрастный откопает в папином сундуке что-то вроде Master Of Puppets или на худой конец Load. Может, и приколется... Только новых идей от сабжа он не дождецца, да и оного уже, к тому времени, скорей всего, уже не будет. Надо учитывать, то покколение жизнь за рок-н-ролл отдавать никогда не собиралось. Вот к примеру: где музыканты, работавшие с Alice Cooper в 80-х (Кен Робертс, например?) Ведут жизнь благопристойных граждан, а о музыке и не помышляют. ххх Срубили бабла - и ладно. То о чем Пит Тауншенд говорил (или пел) большинство восьмидесятников СДЕЛАЛИ.
