Elektra/Rhino Vinyl has set an Oct. 26 release date for Metallica's "Vinyl Box." The set will collect special editions of the veteran hard rock act's first four studio albums, plus the "Garage Days Re-Revisited" EP and the import-only "Creeping Death" picture disc.

The albums "Kill 'Em All," "Ride the Lightning," "Master of Puppets" and "...And Justice for All" have been expanded to double-vinyl sets on 180-gram audiophile vinyl with new gatefold jackets. "Vinyl Box" will be limited to 5,000 numbered copies and will carry a suggested retail price of $99.98.

Metallica wins best band at Kerrang Awards

U.S. heavy metal band Metallica was named best band on the planet at London's Kerrang Awards, BBC Radio One reported Friday.

Some of the world's top rockers gathered Thursday night at the Brewery in Moorgate, London, for the ceremony.

The Darkness won the best live band award and for best British band.

Ash won the classic songwriter award, an honor frontman Tim Wheeler said was overdue.

We've been around for 10 years, we've got a bunch of albums and, y'know, I don't see Slipknot winning this award! This is my second songwriting award and it has been a long time coming. It's only been over the last few years I've got this kind of recognition and it means a hell of a lot, Wheeler said.

Other winners included:

Best British Newcomer -- yourcodenameis:milo;

Best International Newcomer -- Velvet Revolver;

Best Single -- Last Train Home by Lostprophets;

Best Album -- Absolution by Muse; and

Icon Award -- MC5.

METALLICA Want Early 'St. Anger' Tracks To Come Out - Aug. 31, 2004

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield has told Launch Radio Networks that he hopes that some of the early material the band recorded at The Presidio (a rented barrack at an army base) in San Francisco originally meant for the "St. Anger" album will eventually be released: "We were thinking about [putting some of the material out on] a soundtrack — I don't think it's gonna happen. It's... there was a lot of music from [the METALLICA documentary] 'Some Kind of Monster' that was from the Presidio tapes. There's some really great songs. We're not sure what we're gonna do with those, but we've got 'em, and we'd like the rest of the world to hear 'em at some point."

Hetfield said he really wants fans to hear an early "St. Anger" track called "Temptation" that didn't make the final cut.

Metallica rockers Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammett dreaded the moment frontman James Hetfield returned to the band after recovering from alcoholism - because they didn't want to record an album of "rehab songs".

Drummer Ulrich and guitarist Hammett were so worried Hetfield would enforce his new clean lifestyle on recording sessions for the disc that became St Anger they planned to quit.

In the end, Hetfield let his fellow band members do what they wanted.

Ulrich says: "We were thinking what if he comes back from rehab and says, 'OK, I've got an album full of rehab songs, and I'm not gonna let you drink and do what the f*** you wanna do.'

"At which point I would have been, 'OK, nice working with you, I'm outta here.'"

Hammett adds: "We were like, is it going to be like Aerosmith? Where Steven Tyler refuses to have any booze or drugs around him, and everyone on the crew had to p*** in a cup to test what booze and drugs they've had?

"We were wondering about this for literally months."

METALLICA: 'Some Kind Of Monster' DVD Details Revealed - Nov. 6, 2004

According to a posting at METALLICA's official web site, the DVD version of the band's $4.3-million documentary, "Some Kind of Monster", will be jampacked with seven hours of bonus features. The two-DVD set, due on January 25, 2005, will include the following:

* 40 additional scenes
* Exclusive intimate interviews with METALLICA about the film
* Highlights from festivals and premieres
* Two audio commentaries by the band and directors
* Two trailers and a music video

Да, Unforgiven II - хорошая песня!! А как-же такие хиты, как: Fade To Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), To Live is to Die и.т.д.????

Ну еще можно назвать Nothing Else Matter, и еще пару вещей с альбома 1991 года...

Появились новости насчёт долгожданного творения Алексея Глебова, нового издания культовой книги "Fun But True".

Из-за предновогоднего перегруза с работой и посленовогоднего - с выходными, печать книги начнётся только 10 числа, соответственно в продаже появится в последнюю неделю января.

256 страниц, твёрдая обложка.

По словам автора, он хотел оставить обложку в таком варианте (как на картинке) и вообще без названия - типа, "черный альбом", кому надо - поймут... Но потенциальные распространители настояли на указании имени группы и названии книги на обложке. Так что название, наверное, останется прежним - "fun but true", поскольку за последни несколько лет уже стало настоящим брендом

METALLICA включена в список номинантов на музыкальную премию Ирландии 2005 Meteor Ireland Music Awards в разделе "Best Live Performance Visiting Act" (лучший концерт). Другие номинанты в этой категории - Franz Ferdinand, Killers, Madonna, Pixies и Red Hot Chili Peppers.
