On Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 4, U2 played at the Saitama Super Arena.
They stayed in the same hotel EC does and they were seen in company with him.
On Dec. 4th show, Eric, along with Herbie Hancock, Nathan East, architect Tadao Ando et al, showed up.
Eric Clapton was at the final Saitama show on Monday and chatted with Edge and Larry before they went onstage.
As the band was finishing Beautiful Day, Bono sang, "I have finally found a way to live In the Presence of the Lord -- Eric Clapton!"

Eric Clapton and his band wrapped up their 18 date tour of Japan on 9 December. It was also the final concert of 2006.

The set list from the tenth and final show in Tokyo's Budokan Hall naturally included hits like "Wonderful Tonight" and "Cocaine." What was suprising was the number of Derek and The Dominos tracks fans were treated to: "Got To Get Better In A Little While," "Little Wing", "Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad," "Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out," "Anyday" and "Layla." Those lucky enough to be in attendance reported that "Little Wing" was reminiscent of the Dominos' "Live At The Fillmore" version.

The 2006 touring band featured familiar faces and new personnel. Bandmembers were Doyle Bramhall II (guitar), Derek Trucks (guitar), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Tim Carmon (keyboards), Willie Weeks (bass), Steve Jordan (drums), Michelle John (backing vocals), and Sharon White (backing vocals). The first leg of the tour, which took place in Europe between 5 May and 1 August, also included The Kick Horns - Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer and Tim Sanders. The tour started on 5 May in Europe. The band played a total of 79 concerts in 17 countries.

Clapton's World Tour picks up again on 13 January 2007 with a concert in Singapore. From there, the tour moves on to Thailand, China, Korea, New Zealand and Australia before returning to the western United States and Canada through early April.

He was 83.

Eric sat in last night (15 Dec 2006) with the 'No Stiletto Shoes Band' (comprising of Gary Brooker, Dave Bronze, Andy Fairweather-Low and Frank Mead) and played on 4 Songs which were 'Roll with It', 'Driftin' and Driftin', 'Reconsider Baby' and 'Stand by Me'.
About 300 people were present at the club and everybody enjoyed EC's short set.

More news is that Andy Fairweather-Low played 3 songs live on the Paul Jones Show on BBC Radio 2 last Thursday (14 Dec 2006).

Hailed as rock music's first "supergroup" that set new standards of musicianship with their dynamic blend of rock and blues, CREAM --ERIC CLAPTON, JACK BRUCE AND GINGER BAKER-- shot to stardom in 1966 and released four landmark albums before breaking up two short years later in 1968. Now the whole story behind the hugely influential group's formation, the massive success and the break-up is being told in a fully authorized documentary which is released in the U.S. recently (November 21 ; UK release date: 02 October 2006) by Image Entertainment, Inc. and Impact Film Sales Ltd . The two-disc set features new interviews with CLAPTON, BRUCE and BAKER as well as rock contemporaries, journalists and music industry associates, plus rare performance footage and photos. The CREAM: CLASSIC ARTISTS DVD also includes a bonus audio CD with previously unreleased versions of five tracks from a 1967 radio performance in Sweden ("NSU," "Steppin' Out," Traintime," "Toad" and "I'm So Glad").

Associated with different bands in the burgeoning British blues-rock scene, guitarist/vocalist ERIC CLAPTON, bassist/vocalist JACK BRUCE and drummer GINGER BAKER joined forces in 1966, quickly gaining acclaim for smash hits like "I Feel Free," "Sunshine Of Your Love" and "White Room" and their powerful performances where the songs took on a new life with brilliantly extended musical passages. CREAM toured the U.S. and Europe incessantly and released four albums before being driven apart by internal conflict. In this revealing film, the stories of how CLAPTON, BRUCE and BAKER got together, their quick rise to fame and the personality clashes that broke the group are all told by the people who were there.

Beyond the band, interviewees include Atlantic Records' Ahmet Ertegun, Jim Marshall (Marshall Amps), Chris Squire (Yes), Paul Jones (Roosters/Manfred Mann), promoter Harvey Goldsmith and others. The film explores the group members' prior bands and the formation of CREAM, plus their creative process, recording, touring and brief reunion when they performed at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1993. The documentary goes on to explore why, 37 years after they broke up, the groundbreaking band reunited in 2005 for wildly successful performances at London's Royal Albert Hall and at Madison Square Garden in New York City, an event hailed as one of the biggest in the storied venue's history.

CREAM: CLASSIC ARTISTS --the first in a series of "Classic Artists" rockumentary DVDs from Image Entertainment and Impact Film Sales, Ltd--was directed and executive produced by Impact's Jon Brewer. British rock journalist Chris Welch--author of the Cream biography "Strange Brew" and one of the key early writers on the emerging British pop scene of the '60s who interviewed just about every major band for Melody Maker --was interviewed throughout, and conducted many of the interviews himself. Longtime rock scribe and Rolling Stone senior editor David Fricke was also interviewed extensively.
