EMI agrees to pay the Beatles back royalties to the sum of Ј2,832,264.02p. Also, Justice Peter Gibson insists that they have access to review the overseas accounts.
Photographer Dezo Hoffman, who took more pictures of the Beatles during their early years than anyone else, dies following a heart attack he suffered earlier this month. He had been in a coma.
1988
The 20th anniversary reissue of "Lady Madonna" peaks at number 67 in the UK New Musical Express chart.
1990
George, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Tom Petty get together in Los Angeles to begin work on a second Traveling Wilburys album.
In the UK, VCI releases on home video the Beatles' movies "Help!" and "Magical Mystery Tour".

In the US, Beatlefest's 25th anniversary convention opens at the Meadowlands Crowne Plaza Hotel in Secaucus, New Jersey. Special guests include Gordon Waller, Laurence Juber, Tony Barrow, Al Bradox and Lou Harrison. Surprise guest for this evening's events is Sid Bernstein.

In New York City, the Donald and Mary Oenslager Gallery runs in the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, at Lincoln Center. The library exhibition include tour memorabilia, historic film clips, video interviews with musicians, as well as interactive exhibits.
